Hello, Happy Friday and Happy Dr. Seuss Day, which is usually held on March 2nd but with it being a Saturday this year, it was moved to a week day since it celebrates reading. While it doesn't qualify as reading, the latest Grinch (my favorite Seuss book) movie is my favorite adaptation and it will probably be on my list to Santa this year.
Chele, I'm sorry you contracted Iggy's germs. If he is still under the weather, probably for the best that the interviewer had car trouble. Does he have a reschedule date yet? Are sleep patterns at your house stabilizing? How much spaghetti do you have left?
Ruby is gorgeous, Linda! Did you post the painting you did of her? I thought I saw it a few weeks ago. I'm so sorry she lost her mate. They live fairly long lives, don't they? So they both may be/have been quite old, compared to our usual pets. Will you visit her again on your next trip to Vancouver?
Becky, with as active as Kenneth seems to be, I often forget that he had a stroke. I reminded my friend that her husband has survived a lot, so I think he can get through this. As an avid golfer (on the course several times a week, weather permitting), that is no doubt what he is most concerned about. How long was Kenneth in rehab for his? I hope your weather is better today than what you had yesterday. We have more rain and were scheduled for our annual generator maintenance but the guy rescheduled due to the rain. Fingers crossed you will be able to walk outdoors today.
What are you doing on your first official day of retirement, Kathy? Did your body wake up at the normal time and then you realized you didn't have to go to work? I'm not surprised it took you longer than expected to transition out. All of my stuff was on the same campus and it took me about an hour longer than I thought it would. The part I hated most was turning in my badge and parking permit. I caught a spoiler in a Doctor Who episode this morning about the only body of water in a forest being a river.
Liz, you made it to Friday and we haven't heard a peep from you since Monday, which probably indicates how your week has gone. I know you're ready for the weekend. Anything planned beyond the usual stuff?
As I said, we have yet more rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be dry until evening and then it will start up again. Probably what Becky had yesterday. Dale put the truck on charge for about 4 hours this morning and it still won't start. I reminded him that AAA would come out and install a battery but he seems to trust the Auto Zone guys more and it's his truck, so whatever....He was supposed to drive over to NC (using back roads) tomorrow to buy a stand up paddleboard (aka SUP) but it's over 10 ft long so it will have to wait until after the truck is running because he has an 8 ft bed. Can you picture a 10 ft SUP sticking out of the back of the trunk of my Legacy? I don't think it would stay anchored on those winding back roads. If I had a Crosstrek with a roof rack, it might be doable. The left foot still has a ways to go but is slowly improving. I still can't wear even a slipper without pain, but the incision seems to be healing, so there is hope. Next doctor's appointment is a week from Monday. Something weird has been going on with me for the last couple of days in that my BP has been somewhat low and I'm getting light headed every now and then. It started whien I spent more time than I should have in the kitchen on Wednesday. Last night I took my BP and it was 104/63. When I took it just a few minutes ago, however, it was 146/94 (way high for me). The lightheadedness has faded, so that's a good thing, so the BP will hopefully get back to normal. Due to the rain, I have a very inactive dog and I plan to be that way, too. Dale got me Mary Queen of Scots as one of our Netflix DVDs for the week, so I'll be breaking from Doctor Who to watch it this afternoon.
Anybody got weekend plans?

Karen, thanks for the start. I haven't seen the latest Grinch movie yet, but I love the original animated one. So far, this just feels like an off Friday and I've just been doing some normal boring household chores. The family is taking me out to dinner tonight, so that should be fun. DM and I were laughing that we'll be doing our normal grocery shopping tomorrow, but next week we're going to start going on Thursdays. I'm still feeling a bit stressed from getting out of there to tell you the truth, so I'm sure it will take awhile for that to wear off. Hmmm, I wonder who that spoiler on the body of water could be about.
I got a AAA battery once and it was fine and very convenient. I got my last one at the dealer since I was there for service and knew the original one in the car was fading. Hope the lightheadedness is gone for good and maybe take it a little easier while the feet are healing. I know that's hard for you! I didn't know Mary Queen of Scots was out on DVD, so that will be going into my queue. I love seeing the different interpretations of that story. Can't believe how much rain you've had and it seems to just keep coming.
Waving to all. Enjoy your Friday!

Karen, thanks for the start. I am glad the foot feels like it is healing but concerned about fluctuating BP. I am glad you are monitoring it. That is nothing to fool around with. You are getting hammered with rain. We had some some sun this morning after a dusting of snow overnight.
”Chele, I'm sorry you contracted Iggy's germs. If he is still under the weather, probably for the best that the interviewer had car trouble.” True. He asked me before he left how his voice sounded. “ Does he have a reschedule date yet?” Tuesday afternoon.
“Are sleep patterns at your house stabilizing?” Not yet.
“How much spaghetti do you have left?” The Zo makes small batches so we only got 2 meals out of the spaghetti, but Iggy still has sauce and meatballs and can make a sandwich. Neither of us has had much of an appetite these past two days. Very unusual for us.
Waving to the gang. Happy first day of retirement to Kathy.
Favorite Dr.Seuss: I do not like green eggs and ham.

Sorry you got Iggy's germs. yuck.
Karen I hope the feet heal faster! Could bp be low from sitting so much? Then when you do get up, the heart rate wasn't ready to get blood to brain. If you get a high reading, sit for a few minutes and try again. That is what dr does.
DH is disappointed that I cannot do longer plane trips with my back and knees...I am not really! Europe is his thing. I like being there, not getting there and never sleep on planes. But both knees now have some bone on bone and osteo is degenerative with no cure, and feet have degenerated. so I am frustrated with how much I can walk or do stairs. irony here as I exercise and do PT. He sits all day and has no trouble.
Been a week and no call that shots for right knee were approved yet...they will notmake appointments until then but noted good dates for me to get in three before travel, then only be a couple days late in number 4, then five a week later. I had to wait two weeks for the second shot in left last Nov because of Thanksgiving...did not work as well and i read something about being sure not to miss timing in first three. He saud it would not matter.
Micki went to daycare this morning to get him back into it. Last time it was eight days of boarding. We will do this once a week until we board him again end of month. He likes people rather than dogs!
Went out to breakfast, then did a little of what Phyl calks bummin.

Karen Thanks for the start.Kenneth is very active for having had a stroke. He says he was determined it wouldn't get the best of him.Your friend's DH may have a problem if he golfs so frequently.Kenneth was in rehab for a month after being in the hospital for 2 weeks. He could barely write when he first came home and now he writes the checks for the bills. He has come a long way since then.I rode the recumbent bike for 30 min and I did go for a walk.It was 56 and cloudy at the time but it felt good to be outside even if I was bundled up.I hope both the feet heal fast.Does your BP go down when you get up.If so maybe you are getting up too fast.Sometimes I get light headed when I get up too suddenly after sitting for awhile.
Kathy I hope you enjoy dinner with your family.I'm sure it will take some time for retirement to kick in.Maybe Monday when you don't have to get up to go to work.
Chele I hope both you and Iggy feel better soon.
Linda I understand about the knees being bone on bone.My right one is like that and yes unfortunately it won't ever reverse itself for either of us.I hope you get the approval for your knee injections soon.Where will you be traveling to the end of the month?
I cooked chili beans so today was national chili day for us.
