WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Enough snow this morning that they've canceled school which means weekday mass is also canceled. It doesn't really look like much more out there from when I went to bed last night. The temperatures is around freezing. It's supposed to snow all morning but then turn into light rain for an hour around 1 pm. I just caught a glimpse of what's coming down right now. It doesn't look like snow. May be why the schools all closed; not wanting to get the kids there or home in a mixture. They just plowed the road here and the pile across the end of my driveway looks to be about 2 ft deep. Last time this happened Marisol and I had "fun" climbing through it for her walk. She seems to be making a bit of progress on her reaction to people. I think she actually finally recognized the connection between not barking at people and getting the cheese spray treat, I'm using, the other day. We were not very close to anyone in these encounters but, one of the things that was happening, the children were playing hockey around the snow plow piles. Still a problem with other dogs though. For outside she barked at one dog a while ago who was like a football field away. We've probably done something not helpful when she's inside in opening the bottom of the blind so she can see out. She barks at people, dogs, and big trucks (UPS, USPS, FedEx, and plow trucks). Trying to get her to respond to "Quiet" in these situations. Our walks are my only real exercise right now. I'm working on going without the foot boot increasing by an hour each day. Yesterday I had it off too long but today I should go for eight hours. I should be able to get back my money from one of the skating classes but not the other. Food-wise I'm frustrated. The meals I'm eating are ok but I'm still way off on dessert/snack consumption. I've let it get to where my weight is really up. I can't do anything about having the snacks in the house. DM was all upset when I let things get to where there wasn't some of everything (cookies, cake, candy, ice cream) available. I need to plan my snack and/or dessert times more carefully. I do need to get back to meetings also. I've scheduled that in my mind a few times, but haven't made any moves to do it such as scheduling respite care. The time I'm away is right on the borderline of where I like to see DM having someone with her. There was a blessing service and party for the new parish community center yesterday. I would like to have gone but I was unable to get through to the respite care provider Friday because of a phone issue. Ownership has just changed hands and I was getting told a different number, than the one I was dialing, was disconnected or out of service. I called my phone company and the only thing they could tell me is that the original phone number was probably being forwarded to the other one which was also put of service and that's why I was getting that message. Tomorrow I have a long period at the VA hospital and I'm planning on calling the respite care right at eight to try to schedule for that. I hope the phone issue has been resolved. I also have the phone number of the management company they are now with but when I tried that Friday it just stopped ringing and I had dead silence on the line.
6:35 am now and since there's some light out there I can now see what's coming down more clearly. It looks more like snow than it did the last time I checked.
Nancy-I wanted to say something about your mammogram report. Everyone in this group, including those whom it's been a while since we heard from them, is in my daily prayers and I will add this specific intention to that.

Super fast check in this mornjng. I had the best eating day that I’ve had in a long time. It will be more of the same today.
Nancy, thanks for the compliment. I’m a little chunky 😉
Kathy, hooray for your new cycle!

C40. D2. OP. Tracking. Exercising on the stationary bike.
I'm doing fine and planning meals for the week (on the road tonight through Friday night). I have some homemade bean and ham soup, which is quite low in points that I'll pack for a lunch and a dinner. I'll bring some carrots and maybe make up some portioned sizes of AllBran for crunchy snack while traveling this week. I also made some beef jerky - which is delicious! From super lean beef from our farm.
Nancy - happy dance here for making it to C40!! What a sense of accomplishment :-) Great job enjoying the Boston Market in moderation and watching those portions.
Louise - Glad you are starting to see some improvements with Marisol and that she is your reason to get in some exercise! Sorry that it has been hard to get respite care for DM and that her eating habits are such an influence on what you have in your house. I have some of that too, my DM is super skinny and needs higher calorie food to keep his weight up. So I make and buy him cookies that I don't like :-) Like Chips Ahoy (blech).
Jan - I agree with Nancy, you looked GREAT on the FB photos with your team!
Lori - hope you had a good Sunday.
Hi to all who follow!

Weekend went ok, could have been a lot worse – never got to my Mom’s but it was actually very productive. DH and I tackled cleaning out and organizing all the upstairs closets and started sorting thru boxes and boxes of photos…still trying to figure out how to organize the photos (from his Mom/my Mom and my own) – a lot are in frames, albums and loose…any suggestions welcomed!! Also, did the paperwork to get our passports renewed – not that I need it, just they have been expired for a while. Eating over the weekend went well, out to eat twice - all other meals were low points. DH wanted burgers Saturday night, I opted for the Grilled Chicken sandwich minus the bun, a few fries and the salad bar. Sunday we did a little shopping (we bought a new piece of luggage (planning a NC visit in early April and Texas visit in early May) and I got new sneakers) then had an early dinner at Ruby Tuesday. They had a two dinner special – included salad bar, entrée and a shared dessert. My meal choice was the blackened tilapia w/zucchini (only 3SP). We asked for the dessert to go…DH picked the key lime cake. I had my share (about 2 inch square, a whole serving would be 34SP) about 8:30 last night….after that I wanted more and had a chilly cow ice cream (7sp) – then decided it was bedtime (before I got into more trouble…lol) So glad I didn’t have it early…..Today will be a MFP day!
Nancy, Nice how K-closed is working for you! I also average a 12 hr fast (10 to 10) works great! Great job with Boston Market!!
Jan, What a great celebration!! You do look Fabulous!! Awesome, regarding Best eating day!! Feels good, doesn’t it…..
Kathy, You Did it!! Awesome Job and already on D2 of the new cycle…..way to go avoiding the binge!! Regarding attending meetings a few times per year. I would think you can join as a pay as you go member – you would want to check exactly how that would work with a WW receptionist. Too funny regarding the cool whip…I look at it this way…I try to eat as healthy as possible and keep the scale from being a yo-yo…so if having some artificial sweeteners help me, so be it….like they say – everything in moderation. Be Safe on your travels and do the best you can – great that you are brings some Great options!! Just keep thinking about that BEACH!!!
Louise, nice to see your post! Glad you and Marisol enjoyed climbing through the snow. Dogs seem to LOVE the snow!! It’s hard having all the snacks around. Keeping them out of sight might help and making something special for yourself might work…it’s all about finding what works for you in your situation. If you get to a meeting, they may have suggestions for you. Hope you find a good strategy!
Have a good day everyone! Lori
