Welcome to our 2016 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE! November 1 - December 31
CHRISTMAS DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!
Did you know? 24 days until Thanksgiving, 25 days until Black Friday, 28 days until Cyber Monday, 54 days until Christmas Eve AND 55 days until Christmas Day! HO HO HO!! So make your Christmas dreams come true and get on the AF wagon! You have over 8 weeks to make changes in your life that will bring you into 2017 feeling great!
Ever drink, and still feel lousy? Ever drink, and say, not enough buzz? Ever drink and say one more has got to make it better or at least make me not care? Ever drink and ask yourself, what am I doing? Why do I want to poison myself? How does this possibly help me? The problems will still be there the next day. Then do you find yourself repeating the pattern knowing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting a different result. Ah, but you know better….HAH!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be and if it was easy, there would be no need for this board and this wonderfully supportive group. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine if you need a plan for a detour, not necessarily to take it but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Have the holidays always been a reason to drink? Do you think you can enjoy the holidays without alcohol? Or do you get through the holidays by drinking? During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. There may be holiday dinner you wish to plan an AIM, repeat AIM, detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So if your Christmas Dreams are to be AF and feel physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, please join us for the challenge and make your dreams come true. New friends are welcome to join at any stage of the challenge.

Got the guest room tidied up, although there are still some unpacked boxes in the corner. Put up some more outside lights, did a little work, napped, and watched a Hallmark movie. All in all a good Saturday.

The village sounds amazing.
Jan- Sorry you didn't get your 10#. WTG being determined to get it next week!

Good morning all! Woke up to heavy rain and they are saying it will transition to snow by the afternoon. I don't think they are expecting any accumulation though. I didn't hear from Sue last night but was excited to see the post on FB that her father was a bit better.
Amy - that does sound like a great Saturday! I got the house cleaned up a bit yesterday afternoon and then watched a Christmas movie last night. I was excited that I actually slept in this morning until 6:30! LOL
Cindy - sorry about the cold! That bush would drive me nuts too!
Jan - hope work went well yesterday. Sounds like you have a good plan to avoid the goodies at work.
Carole - I made cookies 2 weeks ago and kept nibbling on them. Thankfully they are gone now and I know I don't need to do that again. My downfall is really any kind of salty carb though. Breads and crackers and chips are my enemy!
I'm going to get ready and go to church this morning but then will stay in the rest of the afternoon unless Sue needs me. I'm still hoping that she will be able to come here but will just stay available for whatever she needs. Hope everyone has a great morning! Murphy

Hi friends, A sunny day off, will see if I can get my walk in when it warms up a bit. Got my steps yesterday, so good start to being back on track. DH and I went to breakfast, I always wonder why we think it sounds like a good idea, $27 for eggs and toast basically. I paid an extra $1 for fruit instead of potatoes, but why so spendy? I know it's everywhere, but I think we'll be cooking at home for the next few months again, then we try somewhere new, usually with the same result Duh. Oh well, no dishes to wash! No big plans for the day. Hope you all enjoy a day of rest and accomplish what you want. Going to watch some Bears/Green Bay football and just stay under the blanket for a while Later.

Hi Everyone, Watching the Patriots game, huddled under blankets and wearing my "lion" hat...a knit hat that looks like a lion that I would not wear out in the world, lol but it keeps my head warm and makes me laugh at myself! Seriously with the wind chill it is 0 outside and the house just can't get really warm though we are pretty well insulated/sealed. Kleenix is by my side. DS clipped some of the branches so they aren't hitting as much. Can take the coughing and sneezing but want the bleary eyes to go away.
Found a recipe for dilled potato gratin which is more calorie friendly then scalloped potatoes. So think that is on the menu for Christmas.
Amy, Sounds like Saturday was a wonderful day! Hope today was too! I need to checkout our Hallmark channel. I've taped a couple of movies but all suspense.
Barb, again, I am so glad you were able to see Sue. I am sure your support meant the world to her. Does she have family with her at the hospital? Did the snow come?
Jan, $27 sounds like it wasn't Denny's! I question costs too, especially now since I am looking at the medical deductible hitting in January.
I need to finish up a few cards tomorrow for people that I really should get a card off to them. Will do a big push in the AM. Or the afternoon...or there is Tuesday......
Hi GG, Liz, Carole and Helen! Hope all is going well and you aren't snowed in!
Be good my be gooders, hugs, Cindy
