Good Morning to AWF!
The curtains are drawn back and the cafe is open. Grab a cup of something hot, pull up a chair and tell us what's going on in your world.
For myself, I am thrilled to see the scale inching down after only a few days of planning, tracking, measuring and weighing portions. Funny how the program works when you work the program. Now, to stick with it more than a week and add in some meaningful exercise. It is rather chilly out so I am contemplating some yoga followed by riding the exercise bike, or vice versa. Our high temp today is 44, a little low for this Southern girl's comfort after a couple days of 70 degree temps.
I slept for nearly 10 hours last night. Not sure why I was so tired, but I decided to listen to my body and headed to bed early last night. I turned off the alarm this morning and lay in bed a few minutes an went right back to sleep. DH woke me just before 8:00 AM.
Yesterday I had my usual big brunch of eggs, toast, meat (turkey sausage this time) and applesauce. It kept me satisfied so long, it was 4:00 PM before I realized I had not eaten lunch. Since it was so close to dinner, I settled for a snack of carrots, hummus and some cheese. Dinner was pork roast, brown rice, gravy, pickled beets and green beans. DH and I both enjoyed it and there is enough roast left for another meal or two.
It's laundry day and I will need to go into the hospice office and check on things for my supervisor. Her husband is recovering from the stroke, but it will be a while before she is comfortable leaving him home alone, so I will cover for her in the meantime.
Tomorrow is Mardi Gras and there are 2 local family-friendly parades, but I will probably not go and join the 50,000 - 70,000 who attend. Baton Rouge has no parades on Mardi Gras Day, so people either head to NOLA or our way if they prefer a smaller, calmer atmosphere. DH hasn't been in years and my old work pal with a house (and clean bathroom) on the parade route and DD1's friend with the same both moved several years ago. I haven't been to a parade since. The temps will be in the 40's, so being out for so long without a place to warm up is just not appealing, not to mention the condition of the portable potties after a few hours. The first parade passes at 10:00 and the second at 1:00, so it makes for a long day. You have to get to town before 9:00 and the last year I went, it was nearly 6:00 PM before I made it home through all the traffic.
Well, time to get busy. Have a great day!

Hi All,
Snowy Monday. I weep when I hear how your trees are budding, Pam. Wah!! We used to have such nice months of March in Missouri and Arizona and here we sit in MA with a couple months of winter to go. That's a "first world" problem for sure! Okay, now I can stop whining and get on with it.
We had a productive weekend with some fun sprinkled in. DH did a lot of little home projects - fixing leaky faucets, tightening railings on staircases, fixing teapots! Yesterday I went to see a very funny and entertaining play called All Bark, No Bite. The playwright is local and she talked to the audience beforehand. I know we love our pets and doggie friends so I am sure you would all have enjoyed it. It's so cleverly done and the part of two doggies is played by two people who have keen insight and it's hysterical thinking of our pets if they could talk and what they think of us! Afterwards, there was a dinner but I opted out since I had gone with my friend and her group of church friends and my DH was home and we'd planned dinner. We had the shrimp, pesto, peas over orchiette pasta. So good. My weight is not budging again. I need a page out of Pam's book to really stick to the program. I ate a bag of peanut M&Ms at the play. This is what I do at times and it is so counter productive but I shall move on. They were good and I enjoyed them. Not a big bag but I don't need any. Dinner tonight is a meatloaf I made before I came in today. I had time since we were closed until after 10 at work.
I've been extra tired lately - winter does make me weary at times. We had about 14 inches of snow last night so it was a lot of to shovel for DH. He uses the snowblower for the most part. The roads were fine - just wet. That's the good part about a snowstorm here.
I am reading An Anonymous Girl now. It's a little weird but it is holding my attention.
Have a great day all. I hope to go to swim class tomorrow night. TTFN!

Meant to add, Pam, that I enjoyed reading about the Mardi Gras Parade. I would like to go once, but probably not more - I'm not a big crowd person but would enjoy seeing all the sites. Did I ever tell you that one of my dearest and oldest friends has a daughter who lives in NOLA who is a pretty well known intellectual property and entertainment attorney? She works with many musicians in the area, teaches at Tulane and provides a lot of pro bono help to the artists and musicians of NO. Very interesting work. There is just so much history in your area. I agree with you, though, on the Port o' Potty situation! Clean bathrooms are a requirement especially when we are always running to them! :-)
And, Pam, I relate to the getting up early and getting going alarm story. I did that once years ago, but it was the middle of the night! Showered, got ready for work, etc. to find out it was about 3:30 AM. Of course, many days, it is dark when we get up so this was a wintertime story. Yikes! I remember the worst part is that I thought I was late!!

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
I so enjoyed catching up with all of you this afternoon when I got home from school.
Pam ~ Thanks for starting us up for the new week, and for the description of the Mardi Gras parades.
Judy ~ I love productive weekends. I have also been unusually tired and tempted to blame it on the winter weather dragging on and on and on ..... But when I'm tired, I go to bed, too. Last night it was 9 p.m.
We had a great day at school and I had no errands to run afterward so I am home already. I thawed out a batch of chicken breast tenders this morning and plan to grill them this afternoon. Some will be for supper and some for later on. I may also grill some turkey burger patties to have for later.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi girls. I'm really late to the party. I also enjoyed reading all about Mardi Gras parade, Pam. I also share a dislike with Judy to large crowds, so doubt that I'd ever go LOL. Sue I've been dragging lately myself and also blame this weather. We had another 8" of heavy wet snow. TG Carl took care of it. He also does snow blowing for one our our neighbors that is no longer able to do it. I was able to get out a bit and take a walk. It wasn't too cold and the sun did feel nice. Yesterday we went to a 'cook-in' at a neighbors house with a 2 other couples. We had a blast. She made baby back ribs and although I'm not a fan of ribs I must say they tasted really good to me. Everyone brought a dish and we sat around and talked after dinner. It was a nice time. I'm wearing those ribs LOL...oh well, I'll just eat light today and tomorrow and hopefully it will come back off. Judy will look into An Anonymous Girl. Time for me to start getting supper ready. We are having chicken green beans and perhaps rice...not sure. Take care, all

Hi all,
Quick pop in to get my Tuesday off to a good start. I went to my WW this AM. Up a bit. Up/down/up/down...I need to break this cycle. At least I am maintaining for the most part, but that is not my goal. Feeling a little down today.
Tonight is water aerobics so hopefully that will lift my mood! More later. Have a good day all!

(((hugs))) Judy. Give yourself credit and pat yourself on the back for going to your meeting. I know the feeling all too well of the roller coaster up and down with the weight. I'm sure the water aerobics will help lift you up. Should you see Kim, tell her I said hello We had our sectional cleaned today and it came out super. This guy is more $$ but he is worth his weight in gold. He'll be coming back in June to clean our carpets. While we and his helper were here, we took miss LuLa on a very long walk around our retirement community. It was cool, but lots of sunshine and no wind so it was doable. I clocked in over 9000 steps already LOL. Win win in my books. Tomorrow will be another long day as I have ENZO to go to for a well needed cut and color. I've been awake since 4:30 very bug-eyed. Now that all is done, I'm going to relax and take a well needed nap. waving to all and wishing Pam and Sue a great day.

Wow, Ann - 9,000 steps already! You are great!! I think if I had more exercise, I could move out of this sedentary slump. My job is too much sitting all the time. The water class will feel great, and I'll keep an eye out for your friend in case she is swimming. Enjoy the easy chair today. You have earned it.
I am back from Peppercorn's where I had a Taco Tuesday luncheon. Three small tacos - one fish, one chimmichuri and one ground beef but all very small so I counted 10 pts for all. No cheese, no sour cream. The others had pizzas so I resisted that. No dinner until late tonight due to swimming so I might have a bowl of cereal or an egg when I get home. DH is having the leftover meatloaf. He's a saint in that he will eat whatever I serve him and do so happily! (well, except for what he does not like including steak and pork...lol)

Hi all!
We have had a very quiet Mardi Gras Day puttering around. It is sunny, but a cool 46. The news is reporting 3 arrested at the afternoon Lions Club parade over shots fired. No one injured, thank goodness! DH got the crown molding up with my help. I washed sheets, made chicken noodle soup with a rotisserie chicken carcass and made stuffed bell peppers for dinner. We will have sides of "Good Potatoes" (made with a little butter, water and a pack of Lipton Onion Soup mix), pickled beets and sugar snap peas. Lunch was the last of the shrimp and corn soup, a salad and grapes. I am carefully watching portions and hope to post a loss at WI on Friday. I still haven't gotten back on track with exercise, though, so more work ahead.
I had a nice chat with DD3 as she was stuck in traffic on her way back from the pediatrician with Leah, who has an ear infection. At least they caught the infection before it got too bad, thanks to vigilant daycare staff who noticed Leah wasn't her normal cheerful, 17 month old, friend-biting self, lol. We are hoping the biting will stop as she becomes more verbal and can voice her frustrations.
Judy - As long as we don't quit trying, we haven't failed, so keep on, keepin' on, Sister! Your water aerobics will surely help your mood, as it gets the endorphins going.
Ann - I can't remember the last time I got 9000 steps in. You are amazing!!! Your neighborhood cook-in sounded great. We haven't gotten together with neighbors in a long time. I will have to see if we can get something going.
Waving at Sue!
P.S. I forgot to add I walked past King Cake at the office yesterday not once, not twice, but several times without getting a piece. Yay me!!!

Good morning all. I slept very well last night and I think it was due to all that walking and fresh air! I also took a nap after supper I nearly fell over when I saw the number of steps that I ended up with...over 13,000!!!!! When I was working I clocked in that amount or more as I used to walk the downtown area of Worcester before I started my day. Now I'm lucky to get in 6000 to 8000. Things change Pam I used to be a biter as a baby and also child. Hopefully she will grow out of it. Nice that the attentive staff caught it before it turned into a bad infection. I also had to LOL on walking past the King Cake. A dear friend of mine that lived in Pensacola Florida told me all about those cakes. I've never had it and I'm good with that....I don't need any more temptations in the sweets department. Going to Enzo to get beautified. I pray that the traffic will be light. Wishing all a wonderful OP Wednesday....Ash Wednesday to those that observe.

Hi all,
Pam, I am chuckling about your friend-biting DGD - I think you are right that it does pass as they become more verbal. My DGD did not bite but became so frustrated when she could not express herself. It HAS to be hard. I remember my little nephew who is the sweetest grown up was "written up" on an incident report a few times for biting. Glad she has her ear infection in check early.
It's sunny here, but very cold. Ann and Pam, do you get your ashes? Several of my co-workers will go over to St. Peter's across the street for theirs today at a noontime mass.
I had fun at H2O aerobics last night. I have two very funny and sweet Albanian older ladies in my class. They are troopers as they go FOUR nights a week and have to be well into their 70s. They gave me a good pep talk after class about how I should join them 4x a week. I wish I could but it would be just too much with my schedule. I am aiming for two nights. This week it is one night due to my own hair cut and color tomorrow night.
We leave for NJ on Saturday for our DDIL's baby shower on Sunday. I'm taking Monday off. DH wants to drive home late Sunday which makes sense, but I'll need a day to get my act together Monday.
Ann, KUDOS on 13,000+ steps! You are amazing! It was nippy out, too! I am lucky to get half that amount on a good day.
Pam, I am clapping for you for avoiding the King Cake. Like Ann, I am better not being in the know about King Cake! It could be my downfall.
And to all of you, thank you for your continued encouragement of me. I get down sometimes and feel I am fighting a never ending battle that I so want to win but I have not yet found the exact formula to do so. It is really in front of me, but I have not found the way to use it fully. KOKO is right! No quitting allowed - whining acceptable sometimes, but not too much!
