diva49, I'm with you and cold weather: I'm OVER it. Temps have warmed a lot in Houston (54 this morning) so I can't complain about that. We'll be warming up a lot over the next few days. I'm on call to pick up DGS10 later this morning if he needs to come home. There is a virus going through his school and he might be getting it too. Just blah feelings, no fever or other sick issues so he may make it through the day. I'll hang around and wait for a text from Mom. I'm glad I'm available to help out. We're eating up leftovers tonight. Hope y'all have a nice day!

I'm in. Hubby made us a nice breakfast (cheese omelet, toast, fruit). I think we'll head to the gym & we have to stop & get more peanuts/seed for the birds. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good morning.
Cold here too---woke up to 3 degrees but now it has zoomed up to a near-tropical 16 degrees. Very sunny now but it will be clouding up soon and a bit of snow is in the forecast. After today it looks like daytime freezing temps will be over for the next week or so, at least according to WeatherBug. So...one more day. Staying home today. Both of us are a little achy and stuffy and cranky---not sure what it is but in no mood to leave the house. DH says he will go to cardiac rehab but that's it.
Made chicken noodle soup the other day and packed it up for freezing. Today is beef barley mushroom vegetable soup. The only soup I had left in the freezer was pumpkin/sweet potato curry soup which I love but it's time for more soups!
Wishing all a peaceful day.

Susi I hope you were able to get Jack back in. lavonm It sounds like your DH will be good to have around now that he is retired. fullmahina How are your girls doing with your freezing temps? Grocery shopping this morning is only thing on the agenda today except for exercise and hopefully a good walk this afternoon without the wind.

I'm going to see the movie "Green Day" today.
I finally got on the scale after putting it off. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but it's not good. I called my doctor yesterday to ask if I could lower the medication I take that may be contributing to my recent overeating. He said yes, but it's just a small reduction. That may even help in other ways, too.
Yesterday I made the 6th Blue Apron WW Freestyle meal. It was good except that I went overboard on the cayenne pepper in the seasoning for the pork chops. I didn't use the seasoning they provided because it contained garlic powder. Hubby is allergic to garlic. I had all of the spices and herbs to create my own. My eyes were watering as the pork cooked.

Hi all, Down 1.2 pound from last week! Tracking, limiting alcohol and snacking actually works We have off tomorrow and my brother and niece are coming in. I really hope this is better than last time they visited when she was so sick! My Rheumatologist put me on Gabapetin yesterday for nerve pain in my feet. I hope it works. My mom is on it and hates it, but I've learned not to listen to her. She's a bit of a drama queen Stay safe and warm everyone

fullmahina How are your girls doing with your freezing temps Becky they are doing fine! They are cold-hardy birds and even the one who decided to start moulting in January is okay. Tiny bit of frostbite on the wattles of one of them but that generally is not an issue---the damaged part falls off and that should be it. Life is much easier with the heated waterer because without it we would be running out every two hours to switch out the waterer (we put a quart container of boiling water inside of it to help it stay unfrozen but with really cold temps that only works for about two hours at a time). Thanks to the longer days we are now getting eggs, up to four per day. Frittata time! I actually prefer the baked egg dish that is exactly like a frittata but done in the oven. No more standing at the stove. I'm going to make the next one with two dozen eggs---I followed the recipe last time and realized after I baked it that it could take a few more eggs (I had used 20). Are your cattle used to the cold? Any babies on the way?

cyndee , sounds like you are having fun with the Blue Apron meals! Yeah, the weight loss struggle continues... hpeterson1951 , congrats on the weight loss. I hope the gabapentin works for you. Even though your Mom hates it we all process meds in different ways and it might be just the thing that helps you. I feel a cooking frenzy coming on, lol. Baking something for DH is on the agenda. I think I'll try experimenting with my biscuit recipe too---I like them but I wish they were more like lovely Southern biscuits. The reason you can't get that "Southern biscuit" thing in the Northeast is because we don't have the soft white flours, like White Lily. Someone told me to substitute cake flour for all-purpose flour as it is more like the soft Southern flour. So I bought some and I have buttermilk and it seems like a good day for it! The thing is, I have to limit myself to one or two...sigh.... So I package them in two-biscuit portions and freeze them. I can do one for breakfast, toasted, with a bit of real butter and some Peach Apricot Cherry jam. Portion control. Beef barley veggie soup is bubbling away on the stove. I also have a big English cucumber that I will slice on the mandolin with carrots and red onions for a quick pickled cuke salad. I harvested my mini-crop of radishes and I think I'll throw them in there too. It's all cloudy now, and the snow flurries have started. Puppy at my feet, watching me cook, waiting for something good to fall. So far she has snagged a piece of onion skin and a celery leaf, both chewed and ultimately rejected. I have about five loads of laundry to do so I'll be multi-tasking! KOKO!

Good Morning Everyone It is not raining so I am on my way to Tuesday Morning and Bargain Party to get items for Easter. For the first time ever I am having the entire family come for an Easter egg hunt and brunch. It is not unusual because we Jews aren't big on celebrating Easter. I was inspired when I was at Walmart and Target yesterday and everyone will be here but the two oldest girls. There will be 13 of us. I am going to do something new or something I have not done for 2-3 years. Tonight is the San Joaquin River Parkway Party. My bid number is 29 and I am going to bid on three parties for the year. One is a tour of the Sun Maid raisin processing plant. Another is a progressive dinner and we know two of the four hosting couples. The third may not be my husband's cup of tea but it is at the home of a really neat man and he has invited a musicologist to talk about the 50s, 60s and 70s in music. It is also a dinner and this man is known for his parties. Each one has a size limit so I hope being #29 is high enough to get what I want or we will be on a waiting list. Believe it or not, it is the only thing on the calendar. DH is staying home with Lily Belle and the cats. It starts at 5:30 and I am giving myself 45 minutes to get there. The weather will hopefully be ok. There are vendors with free food and wine as well as art work for each of the parties. The art can be painting, jewelry or sculpture. I look at everything but won't drink anything but water and will try to limit eating to what really looks fantastic. We are having leftover moussaka, pilaf a salad for dinner. I will let DH have all of the pilaf. We are going out to dinner Friday night and I do not need too many splurge meals in a row. Happy Day Everyone

Happy Thursday! One day closer to Friday!
It's still chilly here (it was about 20 this morning) and we are expected to get snow over night (about 1-3 inches) and maybe some freezing rain. UGH! BUT good news is the temps are supposed to be in the 40-50 degree range next week! MAYBE spring is actually going to happen!
Nothing much new to report! Tracking and trying to get some kind of exercise every day. My progress is slow, but I know slow and steady wins the race!
I hope you all have a GREAT day! Positive energy to all!
