I do feel fuller when I have the filling foods
5. Avocado * mashed on toast
* in salad * eaten with lemon juice and salt right from the skin OR mashed as a dip
6. Nuts * in salad * sprinkled on a pbj * in hot cereal
7. Greek yogurt I think this is kind of like labne that we have here - yogurt without the whey * on baked potatoes * in place of sour cream or cream cheese * on toast sprinkled with zaatar * spread on top of cream of wheat then topped with a tbsp of jelly or jam
8. Brothy soup I made tomato soup for Wednesday and made lentil/chard/potato soup for lunch today
Lentil Potato Chard Soup
1 liter water in pot 1 cup lentils in water (turn fire on and begin to boil)
Start chopping as above cooks:
2 medium potatoes peeled and diced 1 medium onion, chopped 6 Stalks chard, chopped (stem & Leaf) (add to pot when chopped)
Cook till lentils are tender
Add to the pot:
2 large lemons (juice of the lemons) salt & pepper to taste drizzle of olive oil in each bowl
Can add more lemon if needed or whatever

Most of those foods are filling for me, except perhaps for the brothy soup, but that depends on what else is in it.
I use Greek yogurt in smoothies, along with a little milk to make 8 oz. Then I'll add a tbsp or so of peanut butter, some protein powder, and frozen fruit. Sweet cherries are my favorite.
I like lentil soups. I usually add some ham and other vegetables. Have not tried chard in it.

I'm not a big fan of avocado. DH loves the stuff.
I use a lot of the ff yogurt. I use it in baking in place of other dairy products & use it in place of sour cream.
Not sure what brothy soup is, I eat most any kind of soup.

cathygeha , Thanks for the recipe above, Cathy!
5. LOVE avocado. Will eat it any and every way I can.
6. Nuts: love almonds and am developing a real taste for walnuts, both of which I've been seeing in articles about things people really should concentrate on eating more of... I soak raw almonds in water overnight, drain well, and leave in the refrigerator. Will eat 'em by the handful and/or add to salads (as well as including one with a decadent chocolate cookie...).
7. Greek yogurt: I'm with most of you on this one. Use it in smoothies, in oatmeal, instead of sour cream, instead of mayonnaise (like to hold canned tuna together) and eat straight out of the (small) containers. I stick with plain nonfat. Currently eating Open Nature brand.
8. Brothy soup: haven't used this very much in the past, but I'm liking Cathy's ideas and am copying the recipe above into my recipe files!

Holly, I posted my bean soup recipe in yesterdays 7/7 thread.
I have soaked almonds in the past, although I think the recipe had you do it for 8 hrs, drain and then do it again for 8 hours. Apparently, "sprouted" almonds are much better for you than other forms of almonds (especially the dark chocolate covered ones- my personal fav) as soaking them releases some mineral that absorbs better into your body. Thanks for the reminder.
I use greek yogurt in place of sour cream.
I love just about any soup except for clam chowder. I don't know if a soup that was only broth would be very filling- need some veggies or something to chew.
Love avocados. Wish they were classified as a free fruit/veggie but I can live with the occasional point hit for when I eat them.

I get emails from the Mediterranean Dish and they had this recipe for Roasted Cauliflower Soup. Especially thinking of Holly as they say you can use plant based milks in place of the cream or half/half. Sounds really tasty and the picture on the recipe looks delish. I thought the first 4, in yesterday's post were foods that I find filling - today's, not so much
1. Avocado - I like guacamole, but don't care for plain avocado as much. That said, an idea from a co-worker, I mashed some avocado, with some olive oil and mixed it in a leafy salad, kind of like dressing. That was OK. But, I don't recall that it seemed to be more filling.
2. Nuts - This is a case where I would really need to be mindful. No, wait, that's not going to do it. I'd need to portion and stop, because I would easily eat more nuts than a reasonable portion before I realized I was full.
3. Greek Yogurt - That can be another case where I need to take a portion and stop. On the other hand, plain skim or 1% milk is filling for me. It's something that's handy at work for me, if I'm hungry, don't have time to eat, I know that milk will work.
4. Brothy soup (I think the article was trying to exclude creamy, highly caloric soups) - yes, filling, because if the time it takes to eat soup. I've occasionally been having a mug of warm chicken broth (purchased carton of broth...there are some very low salt varieties). I'm not a tea or coffee fan and hot chocolate can add up in calories/points.
Jan - thanks for the soup recipes.

I do use Greek yogurt. We enjoy strawberry cheesecake dannon light and fit. Our favorite soup is minestrone with kale. Avocado and nuts have to be portioned. I still miss Core when avocados were part of the plan.
No special recipes. Iβm enjoying the ones you all have shared.
