For the weekend, a couple of quotes from the daily motivational e-mails I receive at work -
The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you. ~ B.B. King
You can conquer almost any fear if you will only make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear doesn't exist anywhere except in the mind. ~ Dale Carnegie
Is there a topic or subject you'd like to learn more about? How could you make that happen? How do you face fears?
Any weekend plans or special things going on?

I hope the weekend is starting well for all.
It looks like the weather might not be quite as tough here today as forecast even yesterday. The larger amounts of snow have shifted a bit north. We'll still get some snow (and sleet and rain). Yesterday was a day off school for students and support staff while teachers had meetings, so I took care of errands, grocery shopping, etc yesterday. I am enjoying and appreciating the 3 day weekend.
Quotes:
Learning: Recently, I've been taking time to complete some on-line training for work related topics to keep up certification. Even thought it's required, I do like to stay current and to learn new. Outside of work, always looking to add to knowledge about creative stuff - photography, for example. How to do it - just like most things in life, commit to it and do it. While there are lots of good free content on-line, I subscribe to a site that has a large variety of professionally created videos on creative topics.
Fear: How do I face fear? Not very well - I tend to mix fear and worry. Fear something might happen, worry about it. While a simple quote won't fix it, it did remind me that I can, to at least some degree, control my attitude and thoughts.

In regard to the quote about learning, if you don't use what you learned regularly, you can forget lots of things about it. So I guess a person's own lack of retention can be a factor in remembering what you've learned.
Not much going on for me this weekend, just usual types of household things and perhaps catching up on reading some of the magazines that have come in the mail.

Many years ago, I had a teacher in high school who said "You know what you know, anything you learn is never wasted, no one can take it away from you". I have thought about this a thousand times over the years. She was right. I sure wish I had learned a lot more things when I had the chance. At this point in my life, I guess I don't need to learn anything else, just trying to hang on to the things that I already know. LOL
Fear, I really don't fear a lot of things, I am deadly afraid of snakes & small spaces. Guess those are phobias. My worry is mostly regrets, really dumb, because nobody (even God) can change the past.
No special plans for the weekend, just usual stuff.

We’re celebrating my sister’s birthday with a movie then out to lunch. It’s a new restaurant for us, but we enjoy Mediterranean cuisine and I’ll focus on celebrating and being with family. I think the key will be tracking the best I can and drinking water.
I’ll check back later and answer other questions. Have a great weekend everyone.

Went to Beirut with a friend to pay condolences to another American friend who lost her twin sister then shopped a bit and ate dinner on the return trip. Will talk via Skype to family later today.

DH had hip replacement surgery on Thursday. All went well. He was discharged from the hospital on Friday to come home. The physical therapist came Saturday (and spent more than an hour with him). Today is Sunday; I'm teaching 9 to noon and will return home to see how he's doing. He's in great spirits. This time is much different from 8 years ago when he had the other hip replaced; one example: he's walking so much better so much sooner than last time. I'm pretty close to exhausted. Have been going to bed earlier than usual. Have also given myself treats for the good job I've been doing as his main support person. And yes, the scale is showing the results of my treats. I still have more than half of March left to get back to my "normal" weight before weighing in the first Friday of April...

Holly Gail - I hope your husband continues to heal and progress in his recovery. And I know it is easy to say (and not always easy to do), but do take care of yourself as well.
While it's colder today here, the sun is shining, which is pleasant. We had an ugly mix of rain and snow yesterday, which has now frozen again, so, yet again, there really isn't any good reason to get out and do much. I should try to get to sleep earlier tonight and see if I can help make up for that missing hour!
I hope the second day of the weekend is going well for everyone.

Holly, hope your DH continues to improve. Nothing worse than a sick DH. Taking care of a sick person is exhausting!!
Clear & sunny here today, such a relief after all the rain that we have had lately.
Great Sunday afternoon everyone.
