Sue - thanks for sharing the Peanut Brittle recipe and how easy to make. What a difference it must be to use the microwave - it's got to be so much easier than trying to mix all that on stove top - I remember how sticky and tough to stir it could get but your way sounds so much easier. Made me laugh 'don't use Splenda - doesn't work' comment at the end Wow to your DSB and his family! What a dilemma! and how disappointing to uproot your family to be near her folks only to discover they didn't have the time to spend with them despite it all. Here's hoping their IN home sells fast. Good for Pat to have family with her Glad you guys are all okay with Mike buying the house - no backlash from your sibs I hope? I was reading back on your post about DD Sarah and all she's dealing with - yes, very glad her doctor nipped it and encouraging her to deal with it now! Glad you could see it for what it is and help let Sarah know 'it's okay' she's going through this...that there is help and she doesn't have to feel like this! So hard... Wow to all your Holiday prepping~~ hope you have time to decorate the Tree - I am so thankful we did ours early as I've really been relaxing in front of ours - even ColbyGirl seems to nap best in front of the lit tree LOL

Yesterday was a bit rougher than I anticipated - the exercises prescribed REALLY hurt! I thought I was pretty tough but oh boy, just trying to bend this knee is really painful - I'll keep trying though as I need to be mobile!! I did take it easy - after I took a shower - which by the way can be exhausting when trying to hobble around, clean the wound, re-wrap, then find clothes to fit over the swollen knee - Sue, you know exactly what I mean...lol...I was ready for a nap! I must have taken 3 short naps throughout the day. By evening I was done. Not sure if I was bored or just plain uncomfortable and irritable, so I just went up to bed at 7:30 pm to read and relax in quiet - DH was channel surfing on the tv (loud) and my lovely DDs had friends over (which is FINE, really!) but they were loud and silly and DH kept turning his tv up louder ...ugh. Too much. My nerves were shot... I woke up my usual 4:45 am today feeling better and ready to try this again

Lisa - I really hope today's family gathering is nice for you. Sorry for the downer from grown kids about what you are serving - too bad! I would say as it's really all about their Grandfather NOT them! Hope the turkey works out but geesh, I feel your stress. Did the weather calm down? We had rain last night to help melt some of this snow but now I think it's going to freeze making it an icy mess. Gabrielle - wow that was a scary night with heavy rains! Glad your boys were safe and YOU got home safe. Saw your pic on FB of you and Ed at the play fundraiser - glad it was a hit! How are the boys doing this week? Is DS22 done with online courses or did he take a semester off? DD20 Carly sees that more and more with her friends and peers - some just need to take time off to recoup. We've been talking to Carly a lot about being realistic for after she graduates (next year) that if she doesn't get into the Graduate School of choice it would be 'okay' to take a gap year, live at home, work full time, and try for Grad school another year... Nadine - eager to hear how the Dog Trainer did with you Friday night - anything offered you didn't already know? I had to smile at your Christmas shopping for DS19 - hey, if they didn't mention any ideas then they get what YOU think they might like, right? DD20 keeps asking for sweaters but honestly that girl has more than enough! So I bought her sweatshirts, workout clothes, books, and a few tops - and a sweater (not to ignore her wishes) but I figured she can buy her own clothes during the great sales after Christmas. Shelly - do not feel guilty having to let the young employee 'go' especially if she was not reliable. You can't keep scheduling her wondering if she was going to show or not! That's crazy...hey btw, NICE bonus Hope that helps with the property tax and other stresses you were worried about

Carole - what did you end up doing yesterday? How cute Eden asked for your oatmeal! Hope you had time to wrap some gifts (on my agenda today) and feel organized for next weekend's Christmas Day That is crazy how much time Amanda gets to take off from work - I wonder if she is telling them she can work from home?? Or is that time off with no pay? lol Ha! I still need the Snow Village set up here - and more cookies baked as we inhaled the ones we baked Thursday lol (the Girls and friends took care of eating them all, but that's what they are for!)... Enjoy MONDAY's sick day!! love it!! My neighbor (a wannabe Martha Stewart type) hosts their family's Christmas gathering each year. Today is their celebration and they have a huge Italian family. She already told my girls to join them and bring back extra pasta/stuffed shells/meatballs for me so I don't have to cook for a few days. S-W-E-E-T.... Jenny - glad you got to attend the Christmas Party after all and how wonderful the prizes, plaques, and BONUS money!!!! WOW!! Your owner does it right! DH works for a family owned car dealership - all he got was a lot of criticism for taking Friday off to be with me for my surgery LOL - wth?? The owner told Gary he 'should have made other arrangements' as they MIGHT have had customers waiting to buy cars (in the blizzard...ohkay)...whatever....I know others' do have similar work conditions so it's always so nice to hear some one being appreciated!!! Oh - how did Audrey do at home alone for her first time? Sounds like she was fine... Jo - what day are you leaving for Pittsburgh and how long are you staying this year?? I know that's been your tradition for years and I hope DH is not giving you grief over it! Thanks for the tips about HSM - I did enjoy her podcasts. I have been using MFP and was actually surprised to see how well I might do once I am exercising again...that's the plan so far.

Ugghhhh, Honey - sorry your household is so loud and you just aren't up for it all... but I GET IT! Hoping today is a smooooother day for you {{{{hugs}}}}

Sue: I remember last year you did the individual treats for your party... good plan!!
HSM is only 41.00 the first month (or it was when I joined) so you have time to check it out and decide if you want to keep it or not... I am trying to make time for the 200+ hours of recorded webinars that she has built in for members... I WISH I could make myself "attend" the weekly meeting... LIVE... instead of trying to catch up later... but for now, it's not happening!!
Thanks... I enjoy my visits with Karen - just need her perspective/validation maybe.. yes my walk-a-bouts are helping with my mindset if nothing else! LOL
Ugghh, I do NOT get how ANYONE can take SO MUCH TIME OFF in any given year... other than being salaried - no one watching - being "young" and have no work ethic... although she is in her early 30s so she's not "that young"... her DH is the worker and never takes time to help out with the kids... not sure that's his work ethic, or the fact she needs the control of being the one home...meanwhile I grew up with her MOm and Dad, and THEY certainly grew up knowing what work was like - they are still reliable workers... her DD has been with the same company for probably 30 years...
I don't know... I don't "get" people these days!!
Then again I wonder when I got so OLD and CROTCHETY and so CYNICAL...
Oh I bet everyone had a good cry with your new ornaments ♥ such a treasured gift for all.

Good morning!
I only have a minute - as DH has already asked me why I have barricaded myself in the bedroom. DH, Sidney and I all got up at the same time which means no ME time...makes for a cranky momma when I have to justify taking a few minutes for myself.
So, no time to catch up today. First session with the trainer went well, she gave us some good suggestions. We need to be consistent and keep working with him and she said it will be work. Sigh. I just wanted a big old lazy dog.
Carole, if you can, listen to Heather's video from Friday (it is pinned at the top of the FB page) -- it talks about changing the story in your head about how people think about you. It has a lot of good points.
Ok, Sorry I don't have time to catch up. One thing I JUST noticed about these boards is that there are a LOT of people here...and to add photos, you have to have them on some kind of a hosted sight, like photbucket or images from the web, but you can't just add them from your computer.
I'll try to come back later!

OH Sue - thanks... but no... the weather turned and we went to the movie :-) I have to say even though I did NOT enjoy the movie - I DID enjoy the fact that 2 of my kiddos, and DDIL went with us, as did DH... it was OK ♥
Meanwhile it FELT like a Sunday - having DH home all day (I guess) and knowing I didn't have to go to work today was an awesome feeling! LOL Today IS Sunday and once again I can come home knowing I have tomorrow too!!
I think I just NEED the time!!
Which brings me to a question for ALL OF YOU... HOW do you keep up with "little things" like de-cluttering, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping...just general CLEANING through the week???
I feel like I am DROWNING in the "mess" around here!!!
I didn't get my cookies baked yesterday - but it's OK... Eden went outside to help Grampa shovel... he gets do little time with her, I was OK with giving up some of mine ♥
Ohhhhhhhhhh, burger and onion rings... I can almost taste it myself... YAY!!!
WHEW! I was so hoping that the kids were still working with the budget... and yes, I do believe it will take "time" to get a full budget under control in a young household... I wish I had someone like you to "guide" us when we were younger...
I think I would be more open to online shopping if I just made the time to browse...I actually ordered another thing last night - next year I need to just drop everything into my "cart" and buy it all at once, might save some shipping costs?
I refuse to pay for Amazon Prime!
LOL Yes, Eden is always telling us that "Gramma is a good oatmeal cooker"... yes I use the 100% natural oats, and make with milk, then add brown sugar and pure maple syrup... I let her help add the B Sugar and syrup...LOL "They" use "natural" "Organic" "gluten free"... but it IS pre-packaged, and has "flavorings" rather than the fresh - PURE - Maple syrup... might be the difference...
Jenny: YAY for leaving Audrey home alone and for everything turning out OK! HOLY BONUS!! Makes the crap during the year worth it?!? YAY for it being such a nice night!
Hope you were able to party with Momma last night...

Sue: WOW! For a family to move to be close to family and then NOT BE... huge "learning curve" there!! How SWEET that it will all work uot for them and Pat, and ALL! Shelly: AWESOME BONUS for you too... we do NOT get good holiday bonus' but we get "profit sharing" in the Spring... with the sale of a building (at a huge profit) we should see good things in those checks! LOL NOWHERE near $2-3k, but we get enough to "do" a few things... Still nothing from DH former employers... still crossing fingers they come through with something!! Ohhhh, Sue! That's awful... so sorry your trip wasn't worth it - BUT - fun family dinner OUT... that's OK, got your family time AND home early to keep things on schedule! OH Sue... how long a drive is it when you head North? I know you only come into MA to Auburn, but roughly how far a drive... and how would you like a visitor (or three) on Sunday April 2, 2017?! I am printing this recipe - see if we can "swing" it...

Good Morning! OK Smooth Sunday it is! DH woke me up at 7am....grrrr. he was just made because all of the dogs were in the bedroom with me and he couldn't sleep so was up early. He has several things he can do to help alleviate this but won't so I do not feel sorry for him. I made my 2nd batch of Buckeyes yesterday and will have to put them in a container so they don't get eaten like the first batch. The first couple came out picture perfect then they got, well, kind of rough looking. They will taste good just not perfect round little buckeyes. Didn't get around to making the cut out cookies, thats for today. its cold, rainy, thunder storming kind of day I just want to stay in my pjs all day. And I just might.
Several of the girls on the HSM website offered to send a link to get a free box from Blue Apron. I got on and my box with 2 meals came Friday. We had White Cheddar burgers with sweet potato wedges. It was really good! Last night I made the other but I was the only one to eat it. I made something else for the family. It was Seared chicken with cipolini onions and kumquats. I have never had a kumquat and had no idea what it was. It was really good. It was made with some kind of pasta. Rounds little pasta. So I have a bunch left over. IT was Chicken thighs, boneless. I prefer the breast but it was still good. Can't decide if I will get another or not will have to cancel if I don't want it. You can pickyour meals too so I will have to see what they have and if everyone will like it.
We ran to a new store yesterday, twice, the Dollar Tree, to get stocking stuffers and little treats for the other adults. We do a grab bag and then buy little stuff for the rest. We got two little bottles of different kinds of liquor in a little gift bag and then I bought truffles one for each person. They loved the booze the last time I got that!

Hey Christine... how's the knee this morning?? Sorry the exercising is difficult... keep it up though... LOL No wrapping... yet... took time last night to put all gifts on the bed - figure out what I got for who - and how much $$ was spent... today is ALL ABOUT FINISHING! Overshot one family budget, but will tack a BD card on it too, so the car seat is part of Eden's Third BD gift in February... they will "get it"...
LOL NO - no working from home for Amanda... for one thing it just can't happen with the different programs and such, but when she was our supervisor (before) she would at least reply to emails from home, now? NOPE... she sends one email early morning - telling us she'll be out and not in her email all day!!
She has "someone" wrapped around HER little finger - somehow - somewhere... I just have to SMH :-( and not focus on it every day!
YAY for the party next door and the leftovers! LOL LOVE IT!
YIKES for DH "boss" being critical of him attending your surgery! HOLY WOW!! THAT my dear TAKES THE CAKE!!!
Nadine: OK Cranky Mamma... give 'em Hell... LOL SOMEDAY Sid WILL be a big old lazy dog...you'll get there! Thanks - will check out the FB video from Heather...
Ahhh, thanks for the tip about photos... not thinking I will try to dive into that right now!!!

Jo: I LOVE Buckeyes... might have to ask my sister if she is making them again this year...:-) I got that offer for free meals too, but not interested in signing up for something that I have to cancel before I get sucked in... glad you ejoyed yours!
Enjoy your cookie baking today... good thing to do ona cold rainy yucky day... but here I go - to get ready to go OUT in it! LOL Lightening in some areas around here... just weird!!!
OK Must get moving... so will try to CBL... going to be a difficult day - lots of activity but not much good eating... need to be back in town around 4 for the Open House for DH former employers... need to get a gift while out today! LOL
Then home (kinda early) to re-group and enjoy NOT having to be ready to go to work tomorrow!
♥hugs♥ hope you all have the smooth Sunday, as we gear up for the upcoming Holiday WEEK ahead!!! ♥
