Becky, it was actually a female member of Congress that made the comments. She is one of two Muslim women who got elected to Congress in 2018. Dale says it's freedom of speech but I feel that you can't say what ever you want to say when you are there to represent the people who elected you. Is the back doing any better? SXSW was just starting when we moved to Austin but it wasn't a big deal back then. I can't imagine living there now with all the traffic plus events like this. How's the bronchitis, Chele? Do you have a bit more strength today? Linda, is today your museum day for the week? I hope, since you worked some this weekend, Liz, that things started off more smoothly for the week. Yes, sometimes my Pollyanna tendencies leak out. Do you have a doctor's appointment yet? Kathy, when do you expect your last paycheck and to start receiving the paperwork you need to complete? When's the big dinner with DS and the rest of the family? Is DN on spring break this week? I realized this morning what 7 weeks on the couch plus 2 foot surgeries have done. Yoga was extremely difficult and doing even some of the easy poses was a challenge. Dale reminded me that it's not where you start but where you finish that counts. I also am going to have to relearn balancing on my new feet. When I was going to OsteoStrong, I was able to balance 60 seconds on each foot on the Vibe Plate. This morning I am not able to balance 10 seconds on the right foot (didn't even try the left one) on the wood floor. I'm also pretty sore from working out on the weight machines yesterday, even though I kept the weights extremely light. A couple loads of laundry and a little Instant Pot cooking is all that's on the agenda. Right now I am watching an old movie that I haven't seen in at least 30 years. It's called Goodbye, Charlie and stars Tony Curtis and Debbie Reynolds. It reminds me how much has changed since the mid 60s. The women are all wearing dresses and the men don't go out of the house without wearing a suit and tie. It also has Pat Boone as a rich guy with expensive cars. I wonder how it would be if they were to remake that movie today. Happy Tuesday!

Boy, that movie sure would be different. I think the old Dick and Jane school readers would be too!
Not surprised your yoga experience. I had foot trouble and had not been dong much fir a long while...suddenly I couldn't really do the water fitness class half as well and surely not as fast. Really ached. I need to make that happened the two days they have it in summer in spite of stupid schedule. Miss having all year, six days a week. Pool is outside. they close now end of Sept.through End of May. It still is hot Oct. and April here! Ours is an old Y. Others too far away have pool inside.
By the way, The trench was only six inches deep in soft garden area because rain...not hard. Have not turned it on because rain started later and still is off and on, but that glue really bonds! But years ago if someone had said at age 72 I would have a house and garden in AZ and be doing this stuff, I would have said they were crazy.
speaking of which, I need to get a new shower head at Lowes today before plumber comes tomorrow to put in a new shower “arm” because the threads at the end are crumbling. Also converting the screw type toilet shut off to a flip type because it freezes up. not good. not good if you plan to do flooring there! always something.

Karen, I received some of the paperwork in the mail yesterday, so I've been wading through that today. DN is on spring break and it's his last one as an undergrad. Hard to believe he'll graduate soon. I should get the last paycheck this week, but it will only be for the last 4 days I worked, plus a little bit of PTO earned for the 4 days. I think DM, DS, and I may do a shopping day and lunch for my birthday instead of a dinner. I'm sure it will take some time to get back to where you were and if you still have any swelling that could affect your balance. I have some pictures my dad took of a parade back in the 50s and the women in the crowd were all wearing dresses. You wouldn't see that today, not that I'm complaining.
Chele, I hate the financial stuff too and will be glad once I get through all the paperwork. Yay on the tax refund! I not only have to do mine, but also help DM with hers. Both of ours are pretty simple, so shouldn't be too bad. Glad you're starting to feel a bit better and hope it improves even more today.
Linda, too bad they don't keep the pool open longer while your weather is still warm enough.
Becky, I had dinner with DM last night and we had fresh grouper and stone crab claws. It was a nice treat. Hope your back is feeling better.
Liz, I'm also hoping things started out smoothly this week. Are you counting down to your vacation?

Karen, thanks for the start. The Congresswoman won’t be re-elected if she angers her constituency. I think politicians forget they are supposed to represent all the voters in their precinct. Right now I believe they represent only those who fund their campaigns. It is going to take awhile to get back your strength. It is hard won and easily lost. I am not looking forward to the aftermath of mu first workout.
Kathy, I hope things are progressing on the to do list.
Becky, I hooe the heat on the back helped with the pain.
Linda, my DM did a lot of things in her 70s that amazed me, but she did a lot of walking and lifting her whole life so she had muscles. You must be in pretty good shape to do all the things you do.
Liz, sending you sane and healthy thoughts.
Iggy and I went to Sam’s Club today to stock up on paper products and a couple of other things. I got in over 4000 steps and wasn’t tired, so I think I am on the mend.

Good Afternoon Chicks and thanks for the start Karen,
Stopping in for a quick hello to all. Today was the first day of our Magnet site visit and of course as Murphy would have it; in walks the Dept. of Health with 3 inspectors for a Title 18 survey on patient rights! Weather is cold today due to the wind but temperatures are not too bad. Supposed to hit the 60s by Friday.
Karen - be careful with the "feets" and don't be overdoing! You have had surgery and need to allow your body to fully heal and to do your workouts/exercises as you can do so safely and without pain. Glad to hear that Dale's dietary changes seem to be working so far. The same supervisor that caused issues with the PR went back behind my back again and made another appt. with the VP and my new boss. I am disgusted!!
Chele - 4000 steps is quite a lot of steps for a recovering bronchitis gal! I hope you are feeling truly better and will also take things slowly as it is too easy to relapse!
Linda - you are a whirling dervish of activity that never ceases to amaze me! Happy that the glue was so effective and that you were able to make the needed repair.
Kathy - shopping and lunch sound like fun to me! I know how crazy it seems when the time passes and the youngsters are finishing up what seemed like they just started not so long ago. My DN should be home from Medical School for a break in late April so I am looking forward to seeing him then. I think my DS & DNiece will be leaving for Iceland right before Good Friday.
Becky - how is the back? I know you have some pain pretty regularly from the curvature but has the additional pain diminished? How are the fur babies and Kenneth doing?
I need to get going ladies as I must continue the fight against the forces of major evil. Have a safe and good evening; ciao for now~

Karen Thanks for the start.I agree with you that she is representing the people and shouldn't be saying whatever she wants although lots of people in office do.Dale is very right about it's not where you start. There was a time I could only walk 10-15 min at a time. Now my normal walk is 40 min and I started out with 10 min on the recumbent bike and now do 30 min at a time.Give yourself a break on yoga.It will come.I have never enjoyed yoga myself so it would not be something I would ever be good at.Take it easy with your feet(s).You are still mending.
Kathy I'm glad you enjoyed dinner with DM last night. My upper back feels better but I have already done 30 min on the recumbent bike and a 40 min walk in a stiff south wind and now my back is tired and my scoliosis is bothering me.I'm glad you received some of the paperwork in the mail.
Chele I'm glad you were able to get in so many steps without being tired.
Liz It seems like as far as your work is concerned "when it rains it pours." The additional pain is a lot better but the rest of my back is sore and tired.Kenneth and the fur babies are fine. It's 78 here today and we are expecting rain tonight and into tomorrow.

Linda, I was suprised about the yoga, but maybe I shouldn't have been. I used to do an intensive hour long yoga class twice a week before I retired and, while I wasn't doing the lengthy sessions after I retired, I was usually doing some yoga. How far from your house are the indoor pools that do water classes? When I was doing water aerobics, the pool was about half an hour one way and that was as close as it got. Granted, I didn't have near the traffic you probably have. Might be worth the drive to get what you need. Glad that the trench was only 6 inches and the ground was softish compared to what it could have been. I believe all of us do stuff that we wouldn't have thought we would 5, 10, 20 or more years ago. Good luck with the plumber tomorrow. I need to get our shower head off and run some vinegar through it because it so the jets will behave the way they should.
I'm glad the paperwork has started to arrive, Kathy. That will be a relief when you get it all done. Enjoy your potential shopping and lunch for your birthday. That will be fun. I miss shopping with DM, but the DM of 15 years or so ago. Even a few years before her fall, it was just really difficult. She went to a gym for a while and did weights and had a treadmill at home and was very diligent about getting on it just about every day. Granted, she was walking less than 1.5 mph, but she was still walking. I think that helped keep her from serious injury earlier in her senior years. Your DM seems to do well as long as you keep her off step stools. Last night's dinner sounds wonderful! Especially the crab.
Chele, you're right about the congresswoman perhaps jeopardizing her re-election bid. She's from Minnesota, so I don't see her views being representative of what I think of what I think of that state. You seem to be making good progress, so I know that first post-illness workout is in the near-term. Take it slow and easy and I hope it will go better than you fear. Going to Sam's on a Tuesday was probably a good time. I'll bet it wasn't particularly busy. 4K steps is awesome, given how ill you have been.
What is the deal with this supervisor who has once again back stabbed you, Liz? Also sorry you have a double whammy with agencies going on. Out of curiosity, if you could do anything and maintain your current salary (or close), what would you want to do? I can't believe with everything that goes on that this is your "dream job". More like a nightmare most of the time. I hope your sis and niece enjoy Iceland. I've heard it's really nice. I think I am getting some nerve regeneration in the feet (which hopefully will help with balance). In fact, a little while ago I got up from the couch and it felt like a straight pin was sticking into the top of the incision on the right foot. Very uncomfortable.
Laundry done, beans cooked, and rice will be finished shortly. Both Dale and I will be eating that. I use the Royal Blend rice which has more protein per serving. I had 86 grams of protein yesterday but only 61 so far today. The only way I can hit the higher numbers is with a meal replacement protein shake. When I start back to Osteo next week, I plan to start taking one with me to have after my session. I'll also have one when I have board meeting before master gardener meeting, like I will on Monday evening. It's just been too difficult to have a decent dinner when I have to feed Arya and leave before 5 pm to get to the meeting. So that will make things much easier and up my protein. Don't know why I didn't think of it before.

Karen What brand protein shakes do you drink?
My back isn't hurting anymore from my walk but my body just feels really tired. It's probably the humidity plus it is 79 degrees.Tomorrow won't be quite so warm although in the 70's I think then a cool down for the weekend.

Becky, we must have cross posted. I feel like I get a lot of flexibility from yoga so it's worth it for me, even if it's kind of boring sometimes. Is there a way you can manage your scoliosis without surgery? 40 minutes walking and 30 minutes on the bike is very impressive. I buy Sun Warrior protein powder for my shakes. It's vegan, low sugar/no artificial anything, and I can put fruit, Becky, we must have cross posted. It's vegan, low sugar/no artificial anything, and I can add things to it like fruit, almond or peanut butter, chocolate chips, etc., to change it up. It's primary ingredients are pea protein and hemp seed protein and it has 18 grams of protein per scoop. I mix it with Silk Cashew/Almond milk, which adds another 10 grams of protein per cup. If I add almond butter, that adds another 7 grams of protein, so you can see how it adds up.

Liz, I think of your work place as THE DARK TOWER frim Tolkien's rings.
Got the shower head at Lowe's and almost got Micki's second walk done before the rain came back. Hibernating with cappucino, iPad and library book. Scrouged around and straightened freezer drawer...tonight will be poutine with TJ's frozen fries in the toaster done on air fry, then cheese curds i need to use up melted on that, Have leftover beef gravy.
