It was rainy most of yesterday and dark. There was some sunshine today but now it is windy and has clouded over. I had hoped to go out and walk BUT don't think I will unless the sunshine returns.
I made babaganouj with tomato, onion and green pepper, red beans, tomato sauce and ranch dressing yesterday then enjoyed the various foods in different ways. Also made a tasty soup that had pureed veggies and whole corn. Healthy food but definitely LARGER portions than normal sized ones would be.
CHERRY: I hope the drive to town was easy and that you enjoyed the latte on the way home.
BEVERLY: I am sorry they called you in to pinch-hit at church...too bad there are not some younger people that would like to do the task. I wonder if the church has asked the local schools if any students need hours for community service to make their college applications look better? There are a lot of colleges that look at service in the community as a plus or even a requirement to get in the doors. By getting in younger people you could teach them but then turn it over to them...maybe? I have never made pot roast...how do you turn it into stew?
LYNN: It sounds like a restful relaxing weekend! What kind of stores do they have in Newport that they don't have back home?
PAM: I am glad you had a relaxing day. It is nippy in the house today...not sure why but perhaps a few days without sunshine and the current wind are causing the cooler indoor temperature. The forecast is for sunshine after today so am looking forward to the future

Cathy, they have Aldi, TJ Maxx, and a dollar store that I don't have easy access to at home. I go to the dollar store for all of my cleaning products and it was time to stock up. Aldi does have low point foods that I can't get at home at such a good price. I also have to hit the commissary on the way home today.
It is a lovely day here, but a little chillier. Time to pack up our stuff and head home.
Have a lovely Sunday all!

Happy St. Patty's Sunday everyone!
Clear & cool here this morning, supposed to be up to 60 today!
This may be the day that I can't put off cleaning the front porch any longer. The front porch is small, so not too big of a deal. I have new cushions for the 2 chairs that stay out there. I also have a new doormat with flowers on it. The porch is carpeted with that indoor, outdoor carpeting. so I will vacuum it. Not that big of a job, now the back porch is a whole different story. It is much larger, has a lot more chairs on it (I have splurged & bought new cushions for all). Getting that cleaned & re-arranged will be quite a job. At least, maybe I can get the front done today.
Lynn, Newport sounds just lovely. I have visions of the port with sailboats all around. It will really be beautiful when the weather warms.
Cathy, I laughed when I read your suggestion about the college student helping with church. Last Thanksgiving, I was helping with the big dinner that is hosted there every year. The woman who works in the church office asked me if a student, trying to get college credit, could help with the dinner. I said "of course, we need all the help we can get". The girl showed up, about an hour late, she did help for a couple of hours, then she said that she had to go pick up her mother. She left & I have never seen her again. LOL. I don't know if she got the credit or not. Our church is relatively small, we do have a few teens that help with yard work, moving furniture around for different events, etc.
Pam & Cherry, Waving a big hello!!!
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. I am so glad it is finally warming up. The overnight lows have been above zero and the days are in the high 30s and 40s. I'm cautiously thinking spring.
This week I have to get things gathered up and organized for income taxes. I have an appointment on Wed. to get them done. I have most everything in a special folder, but I still have to go through a box of receipts etc. to see that I didn't miss anything. That will be one of the things I'll be working on today.
My son won't be able to come here this weekend so I'll be by myself. Last weekend he had a funeral. Hopefully next week he will be able to get here. I have a small list of some things for him to do that is difficult for me to manage. Like changing a couple light bulbs. It's nice to have someone around to do those little things.
Have a nice day, beaches.
