This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning everyone, It's a chilly 36 degrees this morning, but it's supposed to be mostly sunny again and reach 61 today so should be pretty nice. We are going to get out later and we've decided to explore the other side of the dam & edge of the river from what we did last week. It takes us into a whole new area and town that neither of us have ever been to before. We considered more of a mountain hike, but it will feel much cooler in the woods where we won't have as much sunshine, and though we used to do those cold hikes all the time in ATL, it's been so long, we're not really acclimated to that anymore. Lol. This will get us sunshine and allow us to explore a new area and look for restaurants, grocery shopping spots, etc. I'll pop the corned beef into the crockpot before we leave and let it do it's thing on low while were out and about. I'm really looking forward to doing this again. I'm hoping for some good picture opportunities. Janet - I'm sorry. I would have sworn that a few years ago you were swimming almost every day at a pool during the summer. Maybe it was somebody else. I guess maybe I'm remembering that wrong. I was thinking that you and Rosemary were our swimmers. Oh well. In short, I hope you get a gym opportunity worked out that gets you everything that you're looking for. Okay, I'm about ready for a coffee refill. This morning is Maple Bacon coffee from Aldi. It doesn't taste like either maple or bacon, but does taste very much like the roasted pecan coffee that they've served at our breakfast spot near Stone Mountain in ATL. So, kind of like sipping a sweet memory Have a wonderful day everyone! I'll check back later.

Good morning Lora and ATF. I just caught up on yesterday's posts since I got home too late to check back in here. I had a wonderful day in the city - Glenda Jackson plays King Lear, is 82 years olf (!) and is on stage for most of the 3.5 hours of the play. And there was to be a second performance last night. I was exhausted just sitting through it all - tragedy all the way through but so cathartic and memorable. Dinner after was at a nice place and I had a tuna nicoise salad, hold the potatoes, extra vegetables, and it was made with fresh tuna. Yum. Spending time with DFs was great too although my BFF is going through a hard time at work and when we get to our age, there are fewer options. Hard to see. Yesterday was the St. Patrick's Day parade in the city and it was pretty crazy. I had lots of people dressed in green on my usually sleepy train in to the city, some of whom had clearly already started drinking and were loud. Train was packed and security at the station was impressive. The trip home was less eventful.
Today yoga and food shopping, maybe something on Netflix tonight but I may just want to chill. I'm looking forward to a week with no meals out after last week's extravaganza.
Janet, glad to hear the kitty is better and I hope the car repairs didn't cost an arm and a leg, although it always does.
Lora, your day yesterday sounds fun and so great to be done with all the food shopping. I eat so much produce that I always have to make a second trip during the week. Hiking today?
Susie, I've had the same problem with Lands' End swimsuits with a skirt and have stopped buying them for just the reason you mention. Plus the bottoms always take hours to dry so I feel like I have to change as soon as I get out of the water. I do like their suits though, bought one on sale for Cayman last fall. Hope you can find something you like so you can enjoy the pool in your complex.
Robin, we did have the polar vortex here! Remember those days when it was below zero? It's true we only had a week of it but it was memorable to me. And thanks for the idea of checking out TJ Maxx, haven't been there in ages. I will definitely need clothes for spring and summer.
Have a great day, all.

Ha, we were posting at the same time, Lora. Your planned outing today sounds perfect - anything to maximize the sunshine. I look forward to the pix.

Hi Everyone, Lora, I forgot about the summer place that I usually go swimming at. It is a public pool about ten minutes from me. The gym that I used to go to that had one of the biggest pools in the area had a fire and it has still not reopened. Last night I slept much better and feel less tired. Andi, glad you enjoyed your day out. Lora, I hope you enjoy your hike and exploration in a different area. It reminded me of a different place that I had in mind to explore for our club. Today, the usual shopping and I need to get my prescription filled for my colonoscopy on Friday and fill out the medical form they gave me. Exciting, right? Well, at least after the colonoscopy, I will have the rest of the day off. I have to have more frequently due to family history and having had some polyps removed too, none that were malignant but just to monitor. Susie, did you and your DH enjoy the gym? Andi, it did cost a lot but thankfully where I go I can spread out my payment over a 6 month period if it is over 300.00. I have to drop it off tommorow morning again. They needed a part which they ordered and the technician will put in tommorow morning. I'll be a little late for work because I will have to take public transportation. Luckily one of the buses is practically in front of the place I take my car and it is still within the rush hour so buses are frequent. Have a great day!

Good Morning and Happy St. Patrick's Day... Did I tell you all that my YDD (the one who lives in Boston) is in Ireland this week??? She was supposed to go for a wedding and the wedding was called off, but her and her DBF decided to go ahead and make the trip since it was all planned. Also, If I had known my DGM (loved that woman to pieces and my DGF too - of course, I was their first and favorite grandchild) was Dutch/Irish, I would have spelled my ODD's middle name ERIN instead of ARON. I had decided that the baby was going to be Aaron if a boy and Aron if a girl.
I had another night of sleeping l-o-n-g. I didn't even take any pain meds last night...guess that little surgery took a lot out of me. Anyway, tomorrow I have to be up early again so I will get back on schedule. DH mentioned driving to Williamsburg, VA to an outlet mall, but he had forgotten that we have a concert tonight. Tomorrow he is back to Monday morning neuro-fit and there will be a camera crew there to make a new commercial for the center. He will very possibly be in the video so he wanted to buy a new workout outfit - ha ! He is a walking commercial for Under Armour as it is and has gotten pretty good at buying workout clothes online for me too - yippee.
Lora - now that you mention it, I remember Janet swimming all the time too. Have fun exploring
Andi - Wow.. I am so impressed when I see an "older" person (like Glenda Jackson) able to do so much. Jeesh, the older I get the younger 60s, 70s, 80s, seems - ha! Hope you get time to just "chill" today.
Janet - Yes, DH and I enjoyed the gym... it is so close for him and he can actually get to and USE several of the machines. I will probably go to my regular gym most of the time (only 5 minutes away), but it is a nice alternative. Oh a colonoscopy is just delightful isn't it? With the first one I ever had, the prep was so bad and I got a migraine on top of prepping so I just stayed in the bathroom - ugh. The second one wasn't nearly as bad.
Oh Robin - now you have me wanting to go buy a couple new tops..
OK...off to read or take a walk, whatever...

We had a lovely time at the river. The water is still very high, maybe higher than it was last week. I heard that the dam will continue to spill at max capacity for a good while, as spring comes upon us and snow up river starts to melt and keep the waters high. We found a few pretty shells, some really cool looking rocks, and some kind of oddball looking fossil...we'll have to do so research to figure out what the heck it is. I found one rock that had broken open and may be some type of geode or crystal. It's my favorite find for the day. We then took the long way home and say some beautiful rural areas, and actually passed by one of the houses we had looked at before this one. Glad we didn't move on that one though. Haha When we got home the corned beef was perfectly tender, so I went ahead and chopped and cooked up the cabbage. We've already eaten since neither of us had eaten anything other than coffee this morning and a Perrier in the car. Now I'm full and feeling sleepy Once we got home, we also went back out to fill the gas can for the mower. Starting tomorrow I'm going to try to mow the lawn. It might be a little ambitious, but at least it's a self-propelled and not a push mower. The guy who was doing the yard while we were still in Alabama last fall was charging $70 every time he did it (usually every other week). I told DH that I'd do it this week, and see how it goes, and then we'll make a decision on whether or not we want to bring back Handy Randy. I mean, I'm here anyway. I could use the exercise. It's not too hot yet, so it won't hurt a thing to give it a shot. DH gave me a quick lesson on the mower (I've never used this one before). I also told him that this one is for free, but if I continue to do it, I will charge him the going price of $70.00 per mow. Ha! I'm curious how many hours/days it will take me to finish the whole yard. We have 2 acres, but about a quarter of an acre is the wooded part that goes down the mountain in the back, so I suppose I'd be mowing roughty 1.75 acres. I see lots of steps in my future

Lora the pix of your walk were so beautiful and you're a wonderful photographer. I can't believe you're about to mow almost 2 acres!!! I also can't believe you can live on one meal a day plus coffee and Perrier. Ha.
Janet, ugh, colonoscopies. I'm not due again until I'm 75 and I tried persuading my doctor that I shouldn't have one then either, that I'll be too old. He was unconvinced, but that will definitely be my last one! Not many advantages to getting old but that's a definite plus. Even the prep these days isn't as bad as it was years ago, although not a great way to spend time.
Susie, your recovery from the surgery has been amazing. How lovely your DD is in Ireland this week! I forgot to mention regarding night guards for teeth grinding, I find it immensely helpful - you should check into it if it's a concern of yours.
OK, I packed my lunch, made my breakfast muffins for tomorrow morning and will go to bed now so I can get up at 5 to go see my trainer. I'd really like to meditate beforehand but I suspect I won't be able to fit that in. And I looked at my calendar for the week and I have a dinner out with friends tomorrow night. I can't believe it! So much for my hopes for a quiet week at home this week. These are the friends I was supposed to see 2 Sundays ago when we had a snow storm. But maybe the rest of the week I'll be home every night? We'll see...
Good night and sweet dreams ROs.

Just got back from the awesome concert (Jeff Little/Jeff Little Trio - if you want to check it out on FB). Oh my, it was just him and his son - what talent.
Tomorrow we will be back to our normal schedule...training with neuro-fit, so there will be no sleeping in tomorrow.
Andi - I am so impressed that you will be up at 5 to see your trainer
Lora - I used to mow the lawn at the old house until the self-propelled part of the mower no longer worked - ha - we had a steep hill in the front and that took care of that. That was also about a year or 2 before DH's heart attack. Do it if you like it for the exercise, but don't overdo it or hurt yourself.
Night all...
