WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C96D1 (new cycle!), 22 points, 5 water, 1314 calories Just a line dancing workshop this evening. Came home at about 8:15 and wanted something. Chose to have a mini caramel (2 pts 70 cal) and ½ cup Kix (1 pt 44 cal) I think I need a change. I’m going to forget about k-closed and forget about calories for a while. I’m going to try straight WW. I’ll plan 19-23 points but be willing to use some weeklies as well. If I gain a couple, so be it. I’ll get really serious, though, if/when home scale hits 140. I’ll make a big effort toward exercise although that will be an issue this week. I’m having a needle biopsy on Wednesday and they said no activity at all for a few days after. Jan – Yes tracking those snacks was a big change for me. I’m trying more and more to get away from perfection and the all or nothing mentality, while remaining under control. The new method (above) will hopefully be a step in the right direction. I know I can’t just “wing it” but counting points and not calories may be a nice compromise. Time will tell <g>. Happy birthday to Jackson. So you have 2 at 19 now? They’re almost twins. What were you thinking? LOL. Lori – I tried cream cheese (whipped) and jelly in a pita pocket for breakfast. It was good and satisfying with a fruit. I think I’ll try the pita with my some of my mushu next time. Have you tried Lay’s White Cheddar Poppables? I think you’ll like them. 14 make a generous 2 pt side with a sandwich instead of potato chips. Sort of like Pirate’s Booty but crunchier.

Good morning. I came home at 3:00 hungry. I had some unplanned trail mix and smoked almonds, but kept everything under control. I kept the Panda Express and ice cream cake to one serving, but later in the evening I found myself in the kitchen for another reason. I ate two more honey walnut shrimp. Fortunately I was busted by DS19 who wanted the rest, lol. Today will be OP with no challenges. Tomorrow is the wrestling banquet. I’m bringing a salad to eat since the catering is roast beef and fried chicken. Again, being a vegetarian works in my WW favor. The challenge will be the cake. We’re getting both a vanilla and a chocolate from Costco. I think none will be a better answer than some, and if I can stick to that I’ll have my cake batter yogurt when I get home.
Lori, I love Chilly Cow ice cream, and the Enlightened ice cream pops as well. The thought of those makes me excited for summer!
Nancy, Nick is 19, Jack will be 18 in April, and Alex will be 18 in October. I had three babies in 18 months. Alex was a surprise and not planned; Nick’s birth mom had another baby and asked the agency if we would take him. It was a crazy few years! I like your new plan to just count points. You’ll know when and if it’s time to add calories and K closed back in. I’m currently not counting at all, and doing well for the most part. I may go back to counting a month before graduation, if not before.

Jan - Now I'm confused. The other day you said "DS turns 19 tomorrow". Was that Nick? I thought Nick was already 19, same age as my Grace. Three babies in 18 months. Yikes. Clearly it would have been hard to refuse the sibling. Well you survived it, obviously, and you look great to boot. I really think the fitness was your secret weapon.

Today was a good weigh in 138.8. Weighing myself Tuesday's and Saturday's has been working really well for me. Just keeps me in check...and lets me know if/what plan I need to follow. I'm so glad I broke the habit of getting on the scale every morning. It's also helping that I am loving actually maintaining my weight (for a change) and not being on the roller coaster...
Nancy, good luck tomorrow with the biopsy - praying for good results. Love how you adjust your plan as needed!! I have heard of the poppables but have not tried them. They might be a good to bring to my next get-together in place of the white cheddar popcorn. Thanks for mentioning them!
Jan, Funny about being busted...lol Good job at the celebration!! Wow, three little ones in 18 months - I thought two, 13 months apart was challenging - Totally worth the craziness!!...Good luck with dealing with the cake today. Nice that you have a healthier option at home... all depends if you think it's worth it - sometimes Yes and sometimes No...

Lori - I still weigh myself every morning. If it's low I'm motivated to keep it down. If it's up I'm motivated to get it down. I've never found weighing in to be a downer. It's just part of my AM routine. Your twice a week has been working great for you, and Jan's non weigh-ins are working for her. To each his own. What's significant is that we all seem to have finally figured out what works for us. It's been quite the journey. My kids were 2-1/2 years apart so 13 months sounds rough to me. It's amazing that we survive at all but somehow we do. Now we get to enjoy the results.

Ok, I’ve lost a long post twice. I guess I’m not meant to tell this story right now.
Yes, we all have different ways of both weighing and eating that work for us. So glad we have this group!
Nancy, I think I referred to Nick as DS19 before his actual birthday. I didn’t mean to confuse you. And we did refuse a third sibling; we just couldn’t do it. Good luck with your biopsy. Ouch.
Lori, isn’t it a relief to be off the roller coaster?

I just enjoyed some kettle corn while I was planning classes. Not what I was planning at all. Oh well, I’ll move on. At least it’s my busy, high calorie workout day.

Jan - Do you think maybe no news is good news. I'm thinking if he failed you'd hear from them pronto. Just some wishful thinking <g>.
