WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

My heart is heavy this mornjng. I’m so sad. I looked into the Workkeys test that he needs to take and did a couple of sample questions. It’s not an easy test. I’m waiting to hear from the guidance counselor, but I imagine he’ll take it the first week of April. I found study guides online and can help him prepare. This will be on top of his regular credits that he needs to finish. He can do it, but he needs to apply himself and stay home and work instead of spending most of the hanging out with friends. Not to mention that he will hopefully pick up landscaping work in a few week and that will take away from study time. A confident, driven student would have no problem with this. That does not describe my son, though. He also needs to have proof that he worked or volunteered 120 hours. His birth mom will help with that; she and her husband own a used car dealership and he’s done work for them.
I just want this nightmare to be over. On a positive note, the wrestling banquet went great. It was the distraction I needed. The coach spent a few minutes saying something meaningful about each boy. He spoke about Alex’s character and work ethic, and his ability to keep the mood light before tough and important meets. I’m proud of him.
I took a large salad and was very satisfied. I did NOT have any cake. I came home and had a banana and whipped peanut butter in a low carb wrap. I was hungry just before bed so I also had a bowl of cereal.

Jan, I am so very sorry...my heart goes out to you. Sending (((hugs))) It is so hard when there is nothing we can do..Praying your son finds the motivation he needs... I'm so glad you had a good distraction and wonderful to hear coaches comments regarding Alex...makes a Momma proud! Excellent job in the food department..
Nancy, praying for good results. It was so nice to hear what a wonderful team you had taken care of you... just wanted to mention the Bolthouse dressings are in the produce section. If you like cucumber and you like ranch flavor, I think you'll really like the dressing.
I've been following freestyle and staying at the low end of my point range this week and increased my activity (48,000 steps since Monday, 1 Strength training and 1 pilates) since tonight, I'm meeting with DSIL's for dinner at an Italian restaurant. I'm planning on having 1/2 eggplant parm dinner over angel hair. It was great to know ahead of time where we were going so I could plan accordingly...I am so looking forward to it!! The rest of the day is mostly zero foods - hard boiled egg w/roasted veggies(2 pt), mushu (2 pts) for lunch, fruit and yogurt for snack. I looked up Eggplant Parm at Olive Garden 35pts - I know it's just an estimate but not bad since I only eat 1/2...DH already called leftovers...lol

Jan - Any chance he'll reconsider having a tutor now that it's crunch time? I give you tons of credit for skipping the cake. Under the circumstances, you would have had such a good excuse for giving in. What a nice commentary on Alex. Do his brothers attend these functions? What about Dave?
Lori - Thanks for the clarification. I really hope I'll like the dressing. It's awesome that DH will take care of the leftovers. That way you don't have to deal with high points 2 days in a row.

Lori, I love eggplant parm. The Bolthouse dressings are good, aren’t they? I hope you have fun tonight!
Nancy, I doubt he would allow a tutor. I think he finished geography today. I’m playing the waiting game with the guidance counselor again. I emailed her last night with questions about Nick’s requirements. I also left a message this afternoon. This is time sensitive because spring break is next week and the school will be closed. I’ll bug her again tomorrow. You’ll like the cucumber ranch dressing. Dave goes to the sports banquets but the brothers do not. How do you feel after tour biopsy yesterday?
I’ve been sad all day, but have kept my eating in check. Small miracles.

Jan - I'm feeling great thanks. They sent me home with all sorts of instructions for pain - tylenol, cold packs... I needed nothing. No pain, no bruising. I give credit to the doctor. I stayed home all day but played Canasta tonight. Same thing tomorrow until manicure appt. Saturday I'll be back in business - WW and grocery shopping. Now I just wait for the results. It makes me sad when you're sad especially when I look at that beautiful smile on your avatar. At least you're keeping your eating in check. I couldn't be more impressed.
