Good morning.
This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning everyone.
Janet what a nightmare you had with the car. Is it fixed now?
Andi I am dealing with budget this year and it is the first time I have had to deal with it for this job so I understand feeling inadequate during financial meetings. I got my enhanced driver's license in October of last year. I think if you take your passport, it covers a bunch of the items on the list (or in VA it did). They rolled out the new driver's license in VA on my birthday and I had to renew so I got my license on my birthday to go ahead and get the new one.
I am feeling super tired today. I keep saying I need to do something (go to the gym, figure out some sort of food plan) but I keep putting it off...........
I will probably be in the office alone most of the day today - yay!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Hi Everyone, I am home now to start the prepping for the colonoscopy. I went into work this morning for about 2 hours. I figured one that I really wasnt going to eat anything breakfast wise at home and I was slightly short of two full days for pto time. I have to be at the surgery center at 7:30. They said that I have the second part of the prep done by 4:30 so the lady I spoke with said by 3:00 I should start. Ugh! I hope that they did the car right. I dont know if I really should have taken it to work but I would have been late to work and then would have had to leave early again to get it. They asked me in a survey and I explaibed what happen. They asked if I would like someone to contact me and I said yes. If they had ordered the part why did the technician then say they had to run up to the auto part store to get it. It seems like it should have been there by Monday according to them. This one guy said he was the one who ordered it and actually called the technician close to Lora's favorite word for her supervisor)(slacker!). One of the guys gave me a card for a free oil change for being inconvenienced. But it annoys me with the lack of communication about the status as well as people not communicating within the company itself. Jana, hope u get the motivation to go back to doing the gym. Have a good day.

Hi everyone - Oh Janet sorry you're doing that prep - hope everything goes well for you. Jana wavign to you - excited about DH new opportunity. Finishing up a busy week here - we've had 3 director candidates here this week on top of doing some staff interviews. I have enjoyed riding around campus on the golf cart for the tours - that has been an adventure. Here is the beef and broccoli recipe: www.averiecooks.com/15-minute-sheet-pan-beef-broccoli/#It was good! The beef was a little more done than I would have liked but that's okay. I just know for next time. Also I bought a big bag (32 oz i think) of broccoli florets so I put this in the oven on two separate sheet pans. It was tasty. Happy THURSDAY!

Hi ROs...pretty bad night for me and DH...he said he never slept more than an hour at a time and I was awake and up again, and again, and again. I think I realize what some of you go through on a nightly basis now. Anyway, I went to my morning gym class in the pouring rain (only 3 people showed up so I am glad I went). I thought the rain would deter some people going to the Andrew Jackson lecture at LLI, but no such luck...jeesh those retired people are crazy... guess I am one of the crazy ones - lol - DH couldn't even get a handicapped spot. After getting a copy of last weeks Spanish hw (remember I missed because of my hand surgery), I came home...did it and then headed back for Spanish class. In the meantime, DH picked up DSon and went to Buffalo Wild Wings to start watching March Madness games. DH just likes to get out...it is really nice when he can do things with DS (and it will give me some quiet time for a few hours).
Jana - you are right...it is soooo important for DS to get some kind of exercise...after DH had been in the hospital for 40 days and they transferred him to a rehab place, they checked his strength and it was almost non-existent. For every day you are down, it takes something like a week to recover I think. From the time DH was admitted until he came home was 4 months (July 15-Nov 15). Sure hope DH gets good news about the possible new job. Yeah for having a (hopefully) quiet day in the office.
Janet - I agree, the car fiasco was ridiculous! If you don't want to go on Saturday, tell your club that you just had the colonoscopy and you need a day to recover...which will probably be true anyway.
Amanda - whoo hoo for riding around campus in the golf cart - ha - I am going to check out the recipe.
Lora - hope all goes well with the closing - yippee
Robin - I just had a bone density test...can't wait to hear how yours goes...you have had one before...right?

Janet, that is one of the other things I have to schedule. I really didn't even think the prep was as bad as people say it is.
Amanda, fun to be showing around the director candidates. What is your job title? I couldn't ever really figure that out. That recipe looks great. There wasn't a way to save it to Pinterest, but I signed up for her newsletter, so will remember. There were other recipes on there that also sounded like my DH would like them. He is much more of an Asian and Italian food eater than anything Mexican or Middle Eastern.
Susie, could you figure out what was keeping you both up? I can understand that about the lack of handicapped parking. When it comes to seniors, sometimes it seems that they all have a handicapped tag. In NY they give you something to hang from your rear view mirror. They should really have specific spots for people like your DH.
Jana, sometimes I think the bad weather makes me sleepy. Of course the fact that I don't sleep well at night doesn't help.
I know some of you are readers. Have any of you read Where the Crawdads Sing? There was a great interview with the author on CBS that someone else posted on line.

I have a hard time drinking the solution no matter how it is disguised. I cheated a bit tonight because I dont want to get sick on it like I usually have. I tasted little bits of orange jello in between sips. That seeemed to help a little bit. I have to repeat it early this morning. 😣 Cassie is in time out. She kept jumping on the counter. The camp outing is with a bunch of my friend friend's rather my club. I will play it by ear and see how I feel after tommorow. I think I have one of the lady's numbers. I have to check tonight to be sure. Since I was home earlier today I called the company that my gym was associated with to ask about whether the fee that I paid could be prorated. They said it couldnt because although that gym membership was cancelled she said it was transferred to one of the other clubs. I said the other clubs are not convenient for me to go to but as long as no additional money has been taken out then I am okay even tho it would have been nice to get a bit back but it wasnt that much to begin with. 25.00 and I had gone at least a few times I think. Oh well! That is one of the downfalls of joining a gym. I have had about three different gyms close. The one I am considering joining has been there for a long time but so had the other gyms too. Have a good night. I will probably be seeing the bathroom a bit too much tonight.

Good evening all. I'm back from the city, just made myself a mug of tea to settle in for the night. Miserable weather out, cold and rainy, all day. At least not torrential rain so I didn't get soaked, which is lucky because I managed to leave my cell phone at home this morning and had to go back home to get it thereby missing my train. Drove to another station closer to the city that has more frequent train service but it involved a long walk from the parking lot. In the rain. And I climbed so many stairs today, trains, subways, etc. I'm bushed. Feeling a bit of a hypochondriac these days because of my DF with lymphoma. Her first symptoms were fatigue and I'm imagining that that's my problem too. I find myself saying "I'm tired" a lot of the time. My SIL's sister also has lymphoma, seems really popular these days. Ugh. Need to get a grip on this.
Jana, thanks for the sympathy about reading the financials. Also, forgot to say how happy I am that DH may have a good job prospect on the horizon. Also, to get the new license in NY I need to bring with me my old license, my social security card, and a copy of my bank statement with my address on it (!!!). Pretty crazy. I have to have an eye test too - we'll see how that works out. I know that my distance vision isn't as good as it used to be. Nothing is. Hope you had an undisturbed day at work. I'm finding the personal training is really helping me get to work out - I paid for all these sessions and there's no way I'm going to blow them off.
Good luck tonight with the prep, Janet.
Robin I haven't read that book. I should check it out, or maybe I'll wait until you read it and let me know if I'd like it.
Susie, I've experienced the same thing with the retirees at the operas I go to. They're always there in huge numbers, get there early, and some even come in a van from local assisted living places. Impressive, actually, but sorry DH couldn't find a handicapped spot. A lot of people have them and I swear it would be better for some of them if they walked a bit. Harsh, I know.
Amanda, I love riding around in golf carts. There was one place we stayed in the Caribbean where that was the only way to get around. So fun.
I plan to go to bed early tonight. Susie, I have so much sympathy for you and DH with the sleepless night. Happens to me way too often. I got to sleep last night at 10 but for some unknown reason was up at 4:30 and I didn't even have to get up early this morning. Aggravating. Hope tonight is better. I have training tomorrow morning so it will be an intentionally early one for me.
Have a good evening all.

Andi, I was thinking of you in the city today, with the rain. I will say, it is tiring running around the city no matter what, especially because you probably started out stressed out because of forgetting your phone, then the up and down the subway stairs, more running around than you are used to in a day.
I read Where the Crawdads Sing a few months ago, I loved it. It has been on the NY Times Best Seller list for a while now.
Janet, my doctors use a different method, not the liquid that everyone hates. You drink Miralax mixed with Gatorade, plus a few pills.

I have had the way you mentioned too with the miralax and gatorade. Either way I got sick. My dad had polyps and I have had some before so that is why I need the procedure more frequently. The color that was written on my directions said no red or purple. Heck,I figure everything was going to go thru anyway so if a little bit helped me get it down then that was what was going to happen. I still got a little sick on the stuff this morning. I had a light breakfast, napped a bit on the sofa, wrote some observations and am now working on some online trainings. Made a call that I normally wouldnt be able to do at work. Maybe I will take a short rest but really dont want to sleep too long. Bbl.
