WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

Kathy - Plates of buttered toastโฆyum!! <g>. And youโre one week into your triple back to back. Keep โm coming.
Jan โ On the other hand, itโs a positive that DS actually cares about graduating. Just getting that fear out in the open has to be helpful. Is he a Junior or Senior? Any chance of DH speaking to DSโs counselor? I kind of doubt it but thought Iโd ask.
Beth โ A tubing track?? Sounds right up your alley. Have fun.
Lori โ Sounds like you did great. My next test will be Red Lobster in a week if DH agrees to go out for his birthday (88). I look forward to the challenge.

Good morning!
Nancy, I really feel like we've had a breakthrough. I haven't told DH about our conversation yet. First, I'm still not speaking to him. Second, he can be very argumentative and accusatory, and I can't open myself up to that right now. He probably would talk to the counselor. We won't see her again for two weeks as I have to work at our usual appointment time next week. 88--wow!
Kathy, I laughed at your toast dream. When I did Atkins many years ago, I would dream of pancakes and syrup. Every. Single. Night.
Lori, isn't being in control a great feeling? I'm hoping I can experience the same thing in Hawaii in a few weeks.
Bet, sounds like a fun weekend!
Cindy??
Edesia, happy long weekend!

Morning, BFF's! Still kind of floundering around with snacking in the evening. I really do feel a build up of anxiety/anger as the day goes on (busy work days plus a constant stream of news about the events in D.C.) and have been wanting sugar more than usual. My weight is stable, so it's not out of control, but still. I will try to preplan some snacks this weekend and week. Frozen grapes sometimes work. Planning out meals right now and will go food shopping in a little while. TTYL
Nancy - Red Lobster is no challenge for a pro like you. : )
Jan - That's great that you were able to have a good conversation with DS. The car is the perfect place. I remember DH and DS having a number of heart to hearts in the car. No one has to look anyone in the eye and it's a captive audience.
Kathy - Now I want toast.

C28. D8. OP. Tracking. Exercising (got in my 40 minutes of stretching and will walk six miles in the warm afternoon sun :-) I averaged 33 points per day this week. 52 APs accumulated. Lost 1.8 pounds. So I've been able to keep off my flu weight loss. In response to my buttered toast dream, I went to the coop and bought a delicious, wholesome loaf of bread and will have buttered toast for breakfast. A planned, tracked treat and I won't feel deprived! Nancy - Hope that DH is up to going out for his birthday. Red Lobster can be easy with all the seafood choices, but those darn cheddar biscuits! I checked the points and for as rich as they are, they are only 5 points each. You keep trucking on this cycle as well Nancy. Beth - Ahhh! A tubing track sounds like great fun. I admire that you fit fun and fitness into so many of your days. I'm using my stretching time as a meditative time - focus on my breathing and try to keep my mind clear of all the to-do lists. It's working for now. Lori - sounds like you and DH had a wonderful time. It's great you work these getaways into your lives. I'm sorry to say it has been years since DH and I 'got away' together. With kids, cows, farm, work, we have put that kind of fun on the back burner. He said yesterday "we'll have to plan for fun for our retirement" and I said, "dang man! If you're not enjoying the life we have right now, then we have to change it! Cuz this pretty much is what the rest of our lives look like - you never really retire from a farm! EDESIA- hope you enjoy a long weekend. It's not a holiday at my work, but my kids are home from school. So that kind of stinks. I would taken a day off, but can't due to work obligations. Cindy? How are you doing? Louise - hope you are doing fine as well. Has anyone seen Jackie in a while? Hi to all who follow and hoping that Jane, Meg, and everyone else has a great, healthy and relaxing Saturday. Kathy

EDESIA - oop! on the toast comment. I actually try to be careful what foods I describe on this board, because sometime I get a craving just reading what other people are eating.
FYI - I've been listening to Beck in my car during my travels again. She talks about making a vacation plan. So I'm starting on mine (we're taking a week at the beach starting the end of March)
VACATION PLAN
- I will get lots of exercise (we're not renting a car, just renting bikes for the whole family and our cabin is on a bike trail). Assuming I stay ON PLAN, my weight will be such that I can start running again without as much strain on my joints. Both DD and I plan to start running while on our vacation.
- Food: Minimal snacking at airport (coffee, heavy vegetable meals). At cabin, eat two meals a day (brunch and supper). That saves calories for me and $$ for our family of five. In the morning we will have light breakfasts of fruit, cottage cheese, etc...
- Make healthy food choices at the restaurants we eat at.
- Keep tracking?? I really want to put away all devices and if I track on my phone, I will be tempted to check emails, voice mails, etc... and get sucked back into work. So maybe I'll stop tracking when we get to our vacation spot and start tracking at the airport on the return trip. That way I can be fully present with my family and just put away to smart phone for the full week. Ok - that is my plan. No tracking for the vacation week.
Will weigh in when I get home and get back to tracking immediately.

p.s. That was more or less my plan when we took vacation last year. I gained 1# on our vacation week. So I think this plan is actually doable.
