7. Get a dog. You know what takes a lot of energy? Puppies! If you can’t motivate to exercise for yourself, at least do it for Fluff Fluff.
8. Caffeine charge. Sometimes a long day can make an evening workout seem impossibly difficult. At times like these, caffeine is your friend. After about half an hour you’ll need to workout to burn off that extra energy.
For those of you that have dogs, does it help to walk the dog and do you enjoy it? Does caffeine give you extra energy?
I don't have a dog but my daughters take their dogs for walks. Caffeine doesn't seem to affect me, nor give me extra energy. It doesn't affect my sleep either. I do enjoy that cup of coffee in the morning though. It seems to wake me up.

Dogs - We have 3 dogs and at times, yes, walking with the dogs is good exercise. But, like humans, weather conditions can be an issue for outdoor activity (cold, ice in winter. Heat and insects in summer). But, even if not directly related to workout type activity or long walks, a person is getting up and moving, taking them outside, feeding, grooming, and playing. I used to have summers off (district started to offer free summer meals for children about 7 years ago, so now job is year around) and really enjoyed walking in early mornings.
Caffeine - Unfortunately, I like carbonated caffeine and it seems more and more info is pointing to diet pop being a bad thing. (working on that - the carbonation is part of the appeal as well, so the bubbly waters are good too!). I honestly don't feel that caffeine really makes a difference for me.

Dogs - my sister walks hers daily...sometimes twice daily. I have thought about a dog BUT hubby refuses to have animals inside so...no dog for me.
Caffeine - I have found it keeps me awake late at night if I have it in the afternoon (or it used to) but doesn't seem to pep me up in the morning and sometimes wonder if it is just habit to have it.
What DOES give me energy is...exercising. I seem to have more when I walk or lift weights and am OP...when not OP and not exercising I have less energy...go figure.

I have a dog, like the rest of the family, he is overweight. I usually try to walk him everyday. He goes in the fenced in back yard to do his business, but I walk him for a little exercise for the both of us. I am trying to get back into the swing of it, after having foot surgery in Jan. Sometimes I take him to the local dog park. He enjoys playing with the other dogs, I get a little walk in & enjoy visiting with the other pet owners there.
Love my coffee, not sure it gives me energy or not.

No dogs here... And my body has a terrible reaction to caffeine. Once upon a time, I drank a cup of Sanka (remember Sanka? 97% caffeine-free) around 11:30 am and at 10:something that night (I was still going strong!), my friend asked me (nicely) to go home since he had to go to bed (his work day the following morning and every Monday through Friday morning in the office began at 6am) so he could get up the following morning... I drink herbal tea, zero caffeine. I don't eat the chocolate after-dinner mint After8 because it too keeps me awake... A boyfriend once gave me truffles for Valentine's Day and at 2 in the morning he asked me if I'd eaten a Kahlua truffle during the day; of course I had (it was delicious!) and was still talking a mile a minute... No, I stay as far away from caffeine as I possibly can.
And I love the flavor of coffee; I even go out of my way sometimes just to smell it... I miss having coffee in my life...

Don't have a dog anymore since Libby. However, my morning walking partner has a dog and that is why we go everyday day. We got for around an hour. Starting next Sunday, I am house sitting starting next Sunday for 10 days and there are 3 dogs that I will be taking in the morning with me to walk and then again in the evening (since it is still light out when I get off work).
Caffeine doesn't seem to affect me one way or another. I drink regular tea right before I go to bed and am asleep whenmy head hits the pillow.
Holly, I know you like tea- have you tried Yogi brand, honey Chai Tumeric Vitality tea? caffeine free and really good. I have a cup to drink this afternoon.

We have a dog, but I don’t walk her. She chases the frisbee in the back yard and visits her friends. Dh says he wants to start walking with her. She does love riding in the car.
I know I have to have caffeine in the morning.
Have a great day everyone.

jan , <<Yogi brand, honey Chai Tumeric Vitality tea>> No, I don't know this one. I think I've seen the Yogi brand so will look for this one next time I'm at one of the local "healthy food"-type stores (like Whole Foods, although I don't shop at the actual Whole Foods store). There are two interesting markets in my neighborhood that specialize in what I consider "healthy food" (like the stuff Whole Foods sells; I think Whole Foods is national, isn't it? For sure, Windmill Farms is local and I suspect Sprouts maybe less local but not national). Thank you, Jan, for the recommendation.

Holly, I think I actually found it at Albertsons. If you can't find it, email me your address and I will be happy to send you some in the mail.
