This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share.
********************************** Mid 40s and sunny here.
I hope Linda and Bob had a safe trip and that Micki is enjoying doggie camp.
I got Iggy out the door, got myself together and then went to Kroger, the bank, got fuel and lottery tickets, had some broccoli salad I got at Kroger and am going to sit for a minute before I do anything else.
I hope your Tuesday is going well.

Chele, thanks for the start. It's in the mid 70s here and sunny, but will be in the mid 80s later today. You've been busy! This is trash Tuesday for me, so I had to get the trash out bright and early. They had an article in the paper last week about expanding the bear territory so people can get the bear proof bins from Seminole County. I'm in Orange though and they don't seem to be moving on it. I decided to go for a walk before it gets too hot. Not the most scenic walk today with trash bins everywhere, but at least they were empty!
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Thanks for the daunting start, Chele. "Terminating Tuesday" sounds somewhat ominous. Your morning was busy like mine. Only my grocery was Aldi and it was the credit union instead of the bank. I did get the winning Powerball ticket. Don't I wish! How was your broccoli salad? I had some leftover Protein Plus pasta with half a package of Capri veggies from Publix, broccoli, kohlrabi, and shiitakes. Very filling. After listening to several presentations from last week's webinar, I upped my veggies (1/2 to 2/3 of lunch and dinner) and seem to be hanging in very nicely on around 1200 calories and under 20% fat. If this doesn't work, I don't know what will. What's it like with Iggy going to work every day instead of working from home? Will he get to do any of that eventually?
Kathy, your weather sounds lovely for a walk. We are low 50s and cloudy and I had drizzle most of the time I was out and about. Sorry your county isn't being as progressive as Seminole County in the bear-proofing efforts. Maybe Orange County will be shamed into it by smaller Seminole. Are you working on anything special this week?
Hope you had a smooth flight, Linda (and Bob), and that Micki is doing well. Is he at the place where you can check in on cameras?
Rash hasn't let up much. Despite it looking like urticaria, I put some eczema cream on it this morning and that seems to help. I also broke down and bought a box of Benadryl just in case but hope I don't have to take it due to the drowsiness. After I post this, I plan to work on greenhouse policy start up info. I have 4 of 5 committee members confirmed, but got a "no thanks" from the person I really wanted on the committee, so I'm on to my second choice, who would also be very good. Arya has finally settled down for her afternoon nap, so that gives me some work time. We probably won't have our first meeting until early May, but I want to give the group some homework so things will go faster as we are trying to put together the policy document.
Waving to Liz and Becky.

Good afternoon Chicks and thanks for the start Chele. Quick stop in for me before handling some emails and answering the internal auditors questions. We are very chilly today and no heat on in the building. I am sitting with a fleece on that is at least 2 sizes too big for me but warm. I took my wrap home a couple weeks ago thinking I wouldn't need it and of course I am wrong. It's sunny and 44 here in the city but feels more like a winter day than spring. Chele - glad you managed to get your chores completed and are resting a bit. How are the allergies today? I have been fighting a sniffling and little sore throat and not sure if it's also allergies or a bit of a cold. How is Iggy doing so far this week with the new job? Kathy - sounds like you will have a nicer afternoon and the walk sounded good albeit a bit "trashy" . Have they provided any recommendations for good bear-proof trash receptacles for the outside? How's the week going so far? Is is sinking in that you're done with the work and now have time for you? Karen - how are the feets doing? Have you received all the foot friendly shoes you ordered? What's the status of the rash? Becky - how are the knees doing? I hope you're able to get your shots sooner than later. Has the recumbent bike been helping? Linda - hoping you and DH get to where you're going safely and that Micki is doing well at doggie camp in your absence. Enjoy the trip! Need to run once again but hope you all have a safe and good day. Ciao for now~

we are here. Got up 3:15. at 4:10 Supershuttle called and said they had no van and were cancelling our ride! We could not get cab companies to answer phones at that time. One did and said they are not going to Tempe! Woke up a nice neighbor who got dressed and took us to the airport..fortunately only 15 miles away.
After that things were fine and we got into our room early and downstairs for lunch. Rain had stopped, but onion soup felt good.

Karen, I had the second half of a bag of the Publix Capri veggies last night and thought they were really good. That was the first time I'd bought them. It was a nice day for a walk. We have a front coming through tomorrow and it's supposed to be rainy, so I'll probably have to do something inside. Hope the rash lets up soon. Good luck with the committee work. Liz, yes, the walk was a bit trashy, but at least Trashy the bear wasn't around. I think we can buy the bear proof bins, but they're around $250. Orange County is only selling them to people in the designated bear territory which is on the other side of the county, so who knows how long it will take them to realize bears are over here too. The state bear population has grown from a few hundred to over 4000 and there are more people too, so not a good combination. The week has been quiet since DM and the sisters and cousin departed. It's starting to sink in that work is over, but I've caught myself having that feeling that the "vacation" is almost over and I'll have to go back. I guess it will take awhile to adjust. Can't believe how chilly you are for this time of year. I don't think we'll see those temps again until late fall or even winter. Hope you're not getting a cold. Glad you had a chance to check in and hope you have a calmer week. Linda, nothing like a little stress right as you're supposed to leave for the airport! I'm glad the neighbor could take you. Glad you made it there and hope you have a wonderful time.
Becky, what are you up to today?

Liz, good to hear from you! Did you get the emails and auditors handled? Keep warm! Guess you will be bringing your wrap back tomorrow with you, unless they got your heat fixed before you left for the day. Feets are doing fairly well. Not much of a limp and I just wore big bandaids on both feet when I went to the gym and didn't have a lot of pain. There weren't any recumbent bikes available so I had to use an upright, which put more pressure on them but it didn't seem to be a problem. The rash is another matter. We think we have the source narrowed down to 2 items: the pillow on the massage bed last Thursday or the heating pad I used here at home when my neck was bothering me after the massage. I have used the heating pad before but only over clothing. So I'm betting the latter is the culprit. I will take some Benadryl before bedtime, which I really hate to do. But maybe it will knock down the itch and the redness, letting it heal up.
What an ordeal getting to the airport, Linda! Pretty bad when Supershuttle has no van. Guess cab drivers there are like a lot of other workers in that they don't really want to work. Sad. What a nice neighbor to get up and take you to the airport. Micki looks adorable in purple. Hope you're having a great time!
Kathy, this is also the first time I have had the Capri veggies and I think I will be buying them regularly. They are also pretty calorie-friendly and I would guess everything in them is zero points on WW. Hope you can get a walk in tomorrow before the front and the rain come through. My second choice turned me down for the committee, so we're on to the next person on the list.

Thanks for the start Chele. You have been a busy bee.
Kathy I hope you enjoyed your walk even with the empty trash cans everywhere.
Karen LOL on already knowing you got the winning PB ticket. You know we are your best buddies right?Good for you staying around 1200 calories. What is the protein plus pasta?I have decided to stick with straight calorie tracking on MFP.I'm tired of the double tracking and really getting tired of the whole points system.I'll see how long that lasts.I don't like the drowsiness of Benadryl either.I noticed my eczema started back up today. It must think spring is here to stay as I usually get it when seasons change but we still have some cooler weather coming.
Liz Oh no on no heat in the building. The knees still hurt but it's off and on with the left one.The recumbent bike doesn't help the hurting but it doesn't hurt while I'm doing the bike just afterwards.
Linda I'm glad you have a nice neighbor who could take you to the airport this morning.Have fun.
Kathy It will take awhile for you to adjust. We made a quick run to HEB this morning to buy a few essentials but are waiting until tomorrow which is our SS payday to buy the bulk of what we need.I took a walk and rode the recumbent bike.
We have a couple of more nice days this week then we will get a cool front and aren't expected to get out of the 60's for the weekend.Even the meteorologists are finally saying we need rain.We aren't in a drought yet but it's been an extremely dry month.

Becky, Barilla Protein Plus is a multigrain pasta that has 17 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber per 2 oz dry serving. I can only eat 1.5 oz at a time because it's really filling. I have seen it in spaghetti, angel hair, penne, and elbows. It's cheaper than some of the other higher protein pastas and tastes the same (to me) as regular pasta. Don't blame you for not wanting to double track. It's a pain. I hope MFP will work well for you. I love that the food database is so huge. Will it automatically upload your exercise from your FitBit? Are you setting a calorie goal and sticking to that or will you make it so you can also eat your exercise calories? Enjoy your HEB trip tomorrow. It's amazing that you had rain just about every day for a while and now you're back to dry again. Typical Cen TX weather.

Karen If I sync my Fitbit to MFP it will only show the calories from the steps so I just add in the exercise I do.I never eat my exercise calories though.I am set for maintenance on MFP and get 1440 calories but I never am able to eat that many unless we eat out I guess.I remember seeing the Barilla spaghetti.I just didn't know if it was a different kind of protein pasta.
