People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

Good Morning!
This has been a tough week. I have been socializing all week and my weight was going up .2 to .4 at a time but last night we went to a friends and had veggie lasagna, salad, wine and a crustless strawberry cheesecake and I lost .6. I did eat very low points throughout the day, but I knew the menu and had expected to gain. We will be in the car for the next 2 days going to SC so I plan to walk with the group today and Monday. That should help.
Day 29 - March High knees 50 REPS + Sleep 7 Hours
I know I will not get my sleep tonight. We plan to leave tomorrow at 6 a.m.

Enjoy your trip Ruth. I hope Sandy is enjoying hers.
Well I will just stay here and keep working in the garage. I have shelves all around the garage which is because we had so much stuff and I can't reach the top two so am trying to get things on lower shelves as well as get rid of things. I have a pick up here tomorrow for the furniture so that is ready to go. On my list today besides the garage is to get my April calendar ready and I need to get to Costco to get my hearing aid fixed, play bridge from 1-3, and attend the free concert from our chorus from 7-8. I did get almost 7000 steps yesterday and never left the house.
I keep thinking about tomorrow being our 17th anniversary and how we were in Las Vegas and I was walking with pain and using a cane. About 3 months after that I had both knees done. And I forgot that I have to get tomorrow's line dance class planned--that will take an hour of my day.

Good morning friends. Feeling a lot better today. I slept over 5 hours, the most in a while. I had a good talk with my best friend from work (one of those mentioned below) and am making an appointment to see a therapist next week.
A wonderful friend from WW who moved to FL is up and I will be meeting her for coffee. Then she is driving me into Boston, where I am meeting for dinner with two dear ex-colleagues. All of this is great for the soul. You are right, Jane. I do have good friends. It is time to do more with them. I have spent too much time alone lately.
“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” – Marcel Proust
You have your usual busy day planned, Jane. Anniversaries are tough. Feeling for you.
Before meeting up for coffee, I am going to Chico's and J Jill. I have birthday discounts this month and could use a couple of new pairs of pants and maybe a top or two. It is supposed to be in the 50s today with off and on rain. I'll take it. Spring is definitely in the air. YAY.
Safe travels, Ruth.
I'll try to BBL.
Have a good one, everyone.
Gail

Jane I don't go on my trip until April 8th. Haven't been posting as everything is just too overwhelming at the moment and I'm struggling to deal with all of it. My trust in family and the justice system is gone. Thanks to the courts being so easy on Jeff and my DIL being so deceptive and now worrying if we'll ever get our loan of money back. I told Fred if we don't have the money back by the time we go to Virginia for Morgan's high school graduation I will tell Mike what happened and do it in front of Cindy so she will have to be truthful finally and will have no wiggle room as it will be done face to face.
So my weight is creeping up and I think I care enough to be more careful on my eating but then realize I really don't care about it anymore.

Good morning. Ruth enjoy that quick trip and be safe.
Jane I think Sandy doesn’t leave for their trip until early April. The 9th sticks in my head. But don’t rely on my head.
Oh Gail I’m so glad you are feeling up today. Enjoy your time.
I am doing a couple loads of laundry this morning and then we will go to lunch with the couple we will be taking to Gainesville next month. Don will drive their car so he will drive it today.
My snowbird friends are dwindling and our thoughts return to going north to camperland. That won’t be until June though.

Good morning ladies.
I had trouble logging on here earlier but it seems to be fixed now.
Jane, you sure are a busy lady! Hugs to you for your 17th Anniversary tomorrow. It will be a hard day for you.
Sharon, enjoy your lunch outing with your friends.
Gail, you have quite a busy day ahead of you but it sure sounds like fun. Friends are good for the soul. Enjoy!
Ruth, enjoy your trip!
Sandy, I'm so sorry you're dealing with all of this mess right now. Hopefully all will be resolved soon. You need your upcoming trip!
Not much going on here today so I plan on just staying home and getting a few small chores done around the house. I'm headed back home for the day (2 hr drive) tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing my sister and some former church friends. We're getting together for lunch. I was planning on stopping by to see my sister in law but she called this morning to tell me that her 90 yr old sister was taken to the hospital yesterday and she may not be home. She'll know more tomorrow and will text me.
I had a nice loss at WW yesterday...down 1.6#. That made me pretty happy!

Vicki Congrats on the loss
Sandy--sorry that things are so tough right now. Loans are hard to not give when family asks for one. I will never see that $700 I gave Don's DD. I am working on being forgiving to his whole family but that is for my own heart and I don't need to tell them anything or ever be in touch but forgiving is tough. I am a work in progress. They really don't deserve my forgiveness but I deserve being able to forgive.
I found the hearing aid battery under the fridge so Kelcy didn't swallow it but only part of the hearing aid. I think the hearing aid is OK and will get a new piece that they replace anyway for free.
So I have an hour left to get things done and then I will be off for the whole afternoon playing bridge and fighting the Costco crowd.

Greetings: Just saying hi ... need to change and go to Costco so I can come back and shower and wash my hair. We go out to friends for a game night. I like game night.
Had the boys yesterday. It's spring break and mom has had them all week. She wanted a break. Years and years ago my DM talked about how it was okay to take a break from one's blessings now and then. I didn't have family to help, but I did feel okay getting a baby sitter now and then and I had a part-time job for awhile so I considered that a break as well. Anyway, with her line of work she just never was okay with a baby sitter. Since we've been here DS says they've had more time away from the boys than ever before. And the boys have fun here. Anyway, we had planned on taking them to the Art Museum and the kids' programs which are all open for spring break week, but they wanted a PJ day here. So, that's what we did. But by evening I was exhausted!
Today back at at the exercise class. Did I tell about my ortho surg appmt? I'll have to go back and look. I might not have as I've not been on for a couple of days. Now that I understand my knee better, and gave it a good talking to, I felt better today. I even ran a little bit and discovered if I land on my toes rather than my full foot that it doesn't give me that sharp zing!
the kids are going skiing for the last couple of days. It'll be quiet here, but we'll manage! Must drink the coffee and dress. DH is ready to go!
I wanted to ask... if anyone is diabetic or pre-diabetic, what fruits do you find work best? I'll look around on the internet, but it seems most are carby and I'd like to reduce DH's carbs a bit. I should go back and copy KC's list of low carb snacks, too.
Okay. Drink coffee. Dress. Go to Costco.

Karen Don watches carbs and he said any of the berries are good and plums and melons. I need to remember to buy melon.
Vicki congratulations on your weight loss.
Jane if I were allowed I would get rid of most things in the garage storage closets. DH keeps it all and never uses it or else can’t find it when he wants it.
Lunch out was nice. I had 2 fish tacos and a side salad.
Sandy hugs to you. I want you to dwell on the enjoyment time of your upcoming trip. Think of happy thoughts.

Our Great Grandsons (TWINS) were born this morning by C-section about 3 weeks early. William V (#5) was born at 9:34 and Wyatt followed at 9:36 a.m. William weighed 5 lbs,15 oz and Wyatt weighed 4 lbs, 9 oz. They are doing well, but Jesikah is having some bleeding problems and they may have to do surgery on her uterus. WE are praying that this will resolve without surgery.

Good afternoon
I am now on my 2nd week with this cold. Yesterday my left eye was read and bloodshot and it looked like my face was weird so I called my dr. and said I'm not sure if I had a stroke or not, she said to go to the ER, well off I go, thank goodness my sister was able to leave work early, once I got to the ER and told them how I was feeling, I had nurses and the dr. right by my side doing all kinds of test, blood work, temp, ekg, ct scan and they ruled out that I didn't have a ct scan and as far as my eye the dr. said it was peri orbital and she prescribed me two antibiotics, so between what my dr. gave me on Monday for my cold, Tylenol/codeine and an inhaler plus Robitussin I'm all drowsy. I haven't been able to do anything and of course I have to eat with these meds and then I feel nauseous, so I'm hoping that I will soon get better
