Let the past propel you forward, not hold you back.
What are your plans for the weekend? Do you enjoy quiet weekends at home, or are you more of a party person? Now that we are all retired, do you find that you still do more fun things on the weekends? Or do you have more outings on weekdays? Do you try to sleep later on the weekends?
Ideas? Thoughts? Plans?
FUN: Have you ever made homemade ice cream?

What are your plans for the weekend?
Nothing special
Do you enjoy quiet weekends at home, or are you more of a party person? Quiet weekends at home
Now that we are all retired, do you find that you still do more fun things on the weekends? Or do you have more outings on weekdays? One on Wednesdays but not much any other day of the week
Do you try to sleep later on the weekends? Nope...just like any other day. I sleep later (if I can) on nights I stay up later
Ideas? Thoughts? Plans? Nothing in particular...
FUN: Have you ever made homemade ice cream? Yes...with ice and hand cranked ice cream maker, with an electric maker and ice, with a Donvier that has the part you put into the freezer with a hand crank on top AND in a loaf pan in the freezer without cranking at all.

I especially like the quote today. Looking at the past to provide motivation for positive change (rather than regret or negative feelings) is a better way to frame things.
What are your plans for the weekend? Volunteering, errands, regular household stuff - nothing out of the ordinary
Do you enjoy quiet weekends at home, or are you more of a party person? Home! I'm the total opposite of a party person!
Now that we are all retired, do you find that you still do more fun things on the weekends? Or do you have more outings on weekdays? Not quite retired yet, but this past week was spring break, so I had a full week off. I'm not sure how life will go when I do retire. Do you try to sleep later on the weekends? Yes, do sleep later on weekends.
Homemade ice cream - Yes, but not since I was a young child - on the farm when we had a cow. The ice cream maker was one with a hand crank, wood bucket & ice.

What are your plans for the weekend? ** Nothing special except for Mass this evening in town. Do you enjoy quiet weekends at home, or are you more of a party person? ** I'm mostly at home. When DH was alive we used to go camping quite a bit on weekends.
Now that we are all retired, do you find that you still do more fun things on the weekends? Or do you have more outings on weekdays? ** Usually now when I go any place it is during the week. Do you try to sleep later on the weekends? ** No, I'm usually up around the same time.
When I was a child we had friends who lived across the river from us and we would visit back and forth. Several Sundays during the summer my dad would cross the river in a row boat and bring them over here for dinner, Mom would mix up a batch, and my dad and his friend would make ice cream in the wooden crank freezer. Their daughter and I would usually take a turn at the crank. It was always the best ice cream. In later years I would make up some occasionally. I now have one of the electric ice cream makers that you freeze the inside churn before making the ice cream. I haven't made it in a long time. Usually I make it with yogurt rather than cream.

I have no real weekend plans, as usual. Just the usual church service & relaxing.
I used to be active on the weekends when the kids were at home, they always had something going on, ballgame, etc. etc. Now that there is just the 2 of us, we usually don't do anything.
Sorry, ladies who still have to work, LOL. I forget that everyone in the world is not retired!!! You guys impress me with your volunteering on the weekends after a hard week at work.
We do usually schedule our shopping trips, etc. during the week, simply because it is less crowded.
I am a terrible sleeper, so I don't sleep a lot any time.
Ice cream, When I was a child, we often cranked ice cream in the summer. It was a real treat. One of my late aunts, gave me her ice cream machine (crank type). It is like brand new. It has been resting in my attic since she gave it to me, (probably 30 yrs ago), it has never been used. I do have one of those freezer things like Cherry described, but I haven't used it since my youngest son moved out. When he was here, we often concocted something to put in it.

Quiet weekend here. Weβll go to church in the morning and probably run a few errands. Relaxing and reading will also take place.
When we went to camp for kids with cancer, one of the cabin activities as making ice cream. The liquids were in a container which was placed inside a slightly larger full of ice. The kids then rolled the container back and forth and finally ice cream resulted which the kids enjoyed as their afternoon snack.
I will start up a sign up for the next round. Canβt believe 6 weeks has gone by. Please be sure to sign up.
