Happy Day All!
Lin - have a safe trip today. It took me a while after we moved to FL, but I love oysters! Gotta have them on a cracker with cocktail sauce. Or baked. Funny, but I don't like them fried.
Mar - So very sorry about the termites! You did NOT need that! What kind of shampoo did you get? Eucerin? I may try it.
There sure weren't many Owls last night! Hope everyone is okay or just tired from too much fun.
Emily - hope the soccer game goes well for the boys today. Do they know they have all these other folks rooting for them!
Betty - sure feel for you with all the doctor and rehab appointments. Glad you have Ozzie, even if he is a leaf magnet!
Dayle - glad you enjoyed your birthday dinner - twice!
Connie - love, love, love the "peep" show at the hardware store. What a great idea. None of that is big cities! We have the stinkbugs this year, too. Irritating for sure!
Phyl - the guy who sold the donkeys to my friend told her not to get a male one - they can be nasty. So glad you are back to being you! Stay there, please!
Sue - are you out there? Hope all is okay.
Very frustrating – my internet went out in the middle of my post. I’ve about had it with Windstream, but it’s the only one available up here.
Charlie had run off yesterday, but was back by the time I got out there to whistle for him. And, his collar wasn’t bad, DH had forgotten to put it on him! One less thing to worry about!
Got a lot done yesterday, including a trip to the donkeys. What loves they are. I’m so happy for my friend, as she’s really missed her horse. She also soaks up all the affection these little ones have to offer – which is a lot!
Today DH said he’s taking me out to breakfast, and I think we’re going to ride up a dirt road called Windy Gap. It’s a dirt, mountain road not very far from here that winds up around a gap in the mountains – no houses. The red tips are out in full force and it’s always gorgeous up there. We’ll go again when the dogwoods start, and again with the mountain laurel. With the laurel also come the oakleaf hydrangeas. They literally line the road and go deep into the woods. Hope it’s not too cloudy today – expecting rain tonight. I need to make a grocery trip, but it may wait until tomorrow.
Need to work on updating our emergency information file. I keep a record of all our regular bills and how they’re paid, contacts, passwords (coded), etc. Try to update it every January, or whenever there’s a significant change, but this year am a bit behind for some odd reason. HA!
Have a good Saturday, everyone.
Cheers!

Good Morning All
Penny - So glad you're enjoying the donkeys.
Dayle - To answer your question - New AC inside and outside. Ducts are the old ones. Big change. Much quieter. Digital thermostat with motion sensor so easier to read.
As usual, no weekend plans. Just go with the flow.
Everyone have a Sensational Saturday.

Morning All!
Penny that road sounds like an enchanted place, a great way to unwind and get back to what you love. Enjoy your trip. You didn’t say how you travel that dirt road. Is it by car, or by motor bike? I think you said your husband rides – do you? That would fulfill my fantasy of Penny Arnett, nature woman, biking granny…..
Peggy Sue good luck with your new A/C, may it run smoothly, and quietly for a long time. A bonus is the lower energy bills that come with it.
Lately I have been barraged with family members remembering slights inflicted by other family members growing up – things omitted etc. Does anyone else get those kind of things from their relatives? My sister is preparing the guest list for her son’s wedding, next September. She left out my niece’s boys because 18 years ago my niece left her son off her guest list. 18 years ago, my niece got married at home and the house was filled to the rafters. My nephew was the only child in the family at that time and I think I would have been grateful that I was being left home, not slighted.
Then yesterday my niece, the one that works on my doll house was over to visit. She was born deaf and her parents want her to get a cochlear implant that is a “trending” surgery right now and she doesn’t want it. A few friends have had the surgery and the complications and benefits for a profoundly deaf person make it an “iffy” procedure. They are constantly arguing about it. She broke down and told me how hard it’s been for her all these years when she attends family gatherings and we are all laughing and talking and she can’t follow the conversation and understand anything we’re saying. She resents the fact that none of us have learned sign language and that we expected her to adapt to our “normal”. Well this one is a bit heavy. We were told when she was diagnosed that we should speak to her like a normal hearing child so that she could learn to read lips and eventually be able to live in the hearing world. Apparently from her point of view, we didn’t care enough to come down to her level. I’ve watched her sign to her friends and I don’t know how they pick up the nuances conveyed in speech. Apparently signing is “their” normal. When we speak one on one, she and I understand each other very well. I can understand from body language what she understood and what she didn’t and will re-say it so I get the message across. But the hurt runs deep in her. Now she says its hard for her to understand her parents because they are getting up there and my brother’s dentures drop from time to time when speaking (we laughed about that one) and my SIL doesn’t remember to face her or speak clearly. She is convinced my SIL is doing it on purpose so that the surgery comes up more and more in the conversation. It’s a rough one. I know there is little I can do about this, but it still bothers me that they carry these “things” around with them.
Anyway, that’s some of the stuff going on around in my head these days. I try to stay busy so this crazy stuff doesn’t get stuck in there, but some still weigh me down. By the way my second birthday dinner (the lobster roll for dinner the soup for lunch) was delicious! Expensive but delicious. I will definitely treat myself from time to time. Cousin showed up last night for his last working ski weekend and brought me an acorn squash, a baby delacotta squash and a huge Kabocha squash for my birthday present. I’m going to roast them all up tonight – so a third birthday dinner in in the works.
Sorry to have rambled on a bit about the family angst, but find it hard to get rid of things if I don’t voice or vent them.
Hope everyone enjoys their day, and thanks again for just being here. I hope you all know how much you do help in my day to day.
Dayle

Good morning, Not a fan of oysters. When I was little my dad would give me a nickel for each oyster I ate. Pretty much turned me off oysters.
Totally forgot to start the owls thread last night. Not feeling so good and had some family issues that were on my mind.
No plans for the day. DD stopped for a few minutes last night. They had just gotten home from their trip to Jamaica.
Lin, are you on your way home or to another destination? bettyj

good morning, Dayle in our chair yoga class there is a lady with one of those implants.she seems to get along ok with it. I do not know her so have no idea on the pros and cons.
when they first came out years ago insurance would not pay for them. don't know about now days.
I was told by the hearing aid rep then I probably would not like it.don't remember why.
he did say remember once they take parts out of your ear there is no putting them back if you don't like it.
sounds to me like your niece loves you very much and you are the one who will listen to her.keep being there for her.
sounds like sis is playing the revenge/get even game.sad.
another good night of sleep. yippee.
still need to finish up delona's bday present. might just order her something from bonworth. phyl

Good morning everyone
Penny- the shampoo is wonderful. Used it yesterday and NO itching since then. Slept all night. My hair is so soft. Getting the matching conditioner today. I got it at Ulta. Bought the small bottle to try it out.

Dayle, I am so sorry that is happening. I am not sure why people hold on to so many hurt feelings.
The hearing problem with family is a different thing and kind of don't blame her but funny that she never asked her family to learn to sign. And they decided for her. Or why they didn't ask her about it. I know hearing problems were treated differently years ago. My DSIL's Daughter by first marriage has been deaf since a little girl, she never learned signing and hated her hearing aids. finally in HighSchool when they were doing the cochlear My DSIL and my DD jumped on helping with the money involved. She is 25 now and has no problems at all. Biggest thing is hearing her alarm to get up for work. She works midnights and sleeps very soundly. Sorry that your niece has only heard about the people that had problems. I agree we have to get these things off our minds or they keep us up at night!!!
I was having problems with computer this morning and did a "cleaning" and also rebooting. Seems to be better now. With all the wind and rain it might just be a local problem with internet.
Penny, I love the idea of the ride to see Nature. My DH and I used to do that on his motorcycle and I loved it. So yes we want to know,, on the bike?? our mountain laurel etc is a sight to see. It is our state flower and protected. In some of our areas it is just thick with it. Too early for it yet as it is still too early for most things Spring. I am still watching for my daffodils to get at least one flower on there. no crocus either.
