Good Saturday Morning Chicks, Linda - safe travels to you and DH. I'm sure Micki will be thrilled to have you home! The buildings were very much like the city and surprised me to see that. Sounds like you had a nice trip filled with interesting places and a great deal of walking. Chele - hope your allergies and headache have subsided. We are supposed to be close to 70 today after a very damp and overcast day yesterday. Body aches were my nemesis yesterday, I think every joint I have hurt. I didn't leave work early but I managed to leave pretty much on time. Any plans for you and Iggy today? I have the normal dog food store and some errands. I'm hoping to relax and chill out after my chores. Becky - Congrats on the loss and I'm sure you will do just great on maintaining as you have continued to do. I'm still not tracking which is why my weight is crazy but I will get there sooner than later. Need to get my head in the game and the body will follow. Kathy - any plans for you for the weekend? Has the weather improved from the rain? I was just happy to be able to turn off the alarm and sleep in until 6:am. Wally decided I would be a good pillow at that point and laid right on top of me . I've had the pups out for a walk and they're fed. Now to make my to-do list and try to get my tush in gear. Karen - that was a long and late meeting for you. You're awfully busy for a retired gal . I need to make the time to get my blood work done and schedule the PT early next week. I think the pups went back upstairs to snuggle with Gary for a bit. I'm still tired and in a bit of a funk but this too shall pass. Have a great day and congrats on finding a new salad dressing recipe that you like! Ciao for now dear ladies~

Thanks for the start, Liz. I was listening this morning to a webinar with Dr. Michael Roizen at Cleveland Clinic has done research that links stress to weight gain and stress management can lead to weight loss. Made me think about your weight struggles and wondered if there was a relationship for you, given the amount of work stress you're under. How are you feeling today? You seem to get dog food weekly. Are you feeding them one of the fresh foods or something that has a short shelf life? I hope you'll be able to get a bit of rest this weekend and that your aches and pains will subside. Warm weather is good for that. We are currently at 71 and I'm in shorts, short sleeves, and my 1st pair of Birkies with the perfect cut out for my healing feet.
Linda, I hope you had a smooth trip home. Did you get there early enough to pick up your boy? I know, even though you love to travel, you also enjoy getting home.
What did you do with Iggy today, Chele? How soon will you be able to go to your farmers markets?
Kathy, does DM have the travelers staying with her or did they go home already? Does she recover from trips quickly?
Is Scooter wanting to be outside today, Becky? We have wind so I'll bet you had it yesterday. Did you go to HEB/WM today? If not, was the weather nice enough for an outdoor walk?
New way of eating must be working. I lost 1.6 lbs this week. I had some organic russet potatoes that needed to be eaten soon, so I put them cut up on parchment, sprayed them with apple cider vinegar, mixed in garlic and red onion, and sprinkled them with Italian herbs and smoked chiptole and roasted them in the oven. The house smells so good! I had a few for lunch and they also taste good.

Liz, thanks for the early start. My aunts are still in town, so I'll probably head over to DM's for a visit tomorrow. I'm glad you at least got to turn off the alarm, although hard to get much rest when a beagle decides you're a pillow! Hope you have some good R&R time in between taking care of the to-do list items. Karen, congrats on the loss! Those potatoes sound delicious. 71 is considered a bit chilly here, but I'm sure it feels good to break out the shorts after the weather you've been having. The aunts are still with DM and I think they're staying through Wednesday. She recovers pretty quickly from trips, but I'm sure she'll need a day or two to herself. They tend to stay up late when they're together, so she'll probably need to catch up on her sleep. I was watching some of the clips from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction last night and noticed that The Cure had "Bad Wolf" painted on some of their equipment. No signs of Rose though. Stevie Nicks was also inducted this year. I wish they would televise the full event the way they used to, but now I think an edited version will air on HBO next month. Waving to all. Have a great day!

Thanks for the start Liz.Also thanks for the compliment.I found calorie tracking to be more cumbersome than tracking points and I was having trouble getting my 30 points in following SP on ITB so I have decided to go back to an online subscription for FS for 3 months to see if I maintain using it.I know people who can so at the end of that time I will reevaluate.I will just weigh and measure everything and not double track and see how that goes.I know I'm getting enough calories from the double tracking without going over.I don't just eat 0 point foods so it won't be an adjustment.I hope you can rest some this weekend.
Karen It's been cloudy and really windy all day today once our cool front came in.Scooter spent the warm night outside last night but she is staying inside this afternoon.I did all the shopping for the weekend yesterday.Kenneth has been wanting to go to the Cattle Auction in Lexington to eat at their little diner for about a month because one of their specials is always Chicken fried steak. The last time they had BBQ sausage as their other special which wasn't too far off points wise so I was hoping they would have it again. They had fried catfish as the other special and it's been a really long time since I have eaten anything fried and it didn't even sound appealing so I asked for a menu.Surprisingly they actually had a grilled chicken salad so I ordered that with regular Italian dressing on the side.It was actually the best grilled chicken salad I have eaten. The next time he wants to go I won't be so hesitant. No walking today with this high wind. It's actually only 61 degrees and with the clouds and wind I'm not walking. It has been windy here for the whole week but not this much wind and it won't be any better tomorrow and the low will be high 40's to low 50's and not get out of the 50's tomorrow.I think we are even expecting lows in the upper 30's a couple of nights next week.So our false spring is gone for a few days.Congrats on your loss. What are you doing differently?
Kathy Enjoy visit with your aunts tomorrow.

Kathy, that's too funny about Bad Wolf. I haven't seen that in any episodes since Tennant left. Or have I just not been paying attention? Good that DM recovers rather quickly. I certainly do not and she's somewhat older than I. I didn't see the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction last night but wish I had. Why was I thinking it was in June? Anyway, I'm glad Stevie made it there on her own this time, especially when Lindsey hasn't. Of course the broadcast would be on HBO, which we no longer get. Curse you AT&T/DirecTV!
You'll be home soon, Linda. Did you get to see the dam or were you too high up?
Becky, that's great that you have something to eat at the diner that you will look forward to. Fried catfish wouldn't do it for me either. I am meeting 3 GFs for lunch on Monday and we are meeting at a homestyle cooking place so I looked at the menu today and I think I will have their house salad without cheese or croutons and will take my own dressing. They have trout on the menu and that was tempting until I realized that it's battered and deep fried. I am doing a vegan plan right now with what they call no SOS (salt, oil, sugar). There is another plan that I have thought about called no SOFAS where you avoid salt, oil, flour, alcohol, and sugar. I do use a very little bit of agave nectar or maple syrup but only occasionally have something with flour, like bread, and don't drink alcohol more than about once a year. As a result, I'm kinda doing that. So you are going back to WW for 3 months? Whatever works is the best thing to do. I didn't like WW primarily because their database was very lame for the kind of foods I eat and I was having to spend so much time entering things to calculate points. The database on MFP works a lot better for me because there must be more vegans than on WW. I think we will be getting your cold front tomorrow as it's supposed to be upper 20s Monday morning.

Karen, did you watch The Day of the Doctor yet? It's the one with Tennant and Smith. I was watching clips of the Hall of Fame induction on YouTube, but it hasn't been broadcast anywhere. HBO isn't showing it until April which was my complaint. That and I don't even have HBO! How long has it been since you used WW? I think their database has expanded quite a bit, but I don't know how good it is for vegans. Becky, I quickly got tired of tracking the free foods and rejoined WW for 3 months yesterday. You probably got the same deal I did. I do like to track on MFP sometimes to check calories and nutrients. Glad you found something good on the menu and that it was so good. I know what you mean about not wanting to walk in the wind. I just checked our weather forecast since you and Karen will be getting colder weather again. We're heading to 86 tomorrow and then getting some rain and a couple of nights with lows in the 50s. Then it zooms back up to 86, so I guess that's all the cool down we're getting.

Congrats on great loss, Karen.

Linda, I hope you, Bob and Micki are all tucked up in bed resting from your trips.
Karen, congrats on the loss. You are very disciplined with your food plan. I haven’t been in a long time. The potatoes sounded delicious.
Liz, I hope you got through your errands quickly and were able to put your feets up. How did your joints do yesterday? I am sure all the stress doesn’t help the inflammation decrease. We had rain off and on all day yesterday so the allergies were better.
Kathy, I hope you have a good visit with DM and the aunts. I heard on the radio that Stevie Nicks had been inducted on her own and was happy to hear it. I don’t have HBO either.
Becky, if WW tracking works for you then why not go for it. Eating out can be a challenge for weight maintenance, loss, vegans and vegetarians. I don’t like to eat out a lot because of the sodium in the food. It takes two days for me to lose the water weight.
Iggy and I went to Spectrum and AT&T yesterday. He was concerned that we would not be happy with Direct TV’s service and the internet, so we went to Spectrum to see what kind of deal we could get. It is more expensive than ATT but if service wasn’t good, all I would hear is complaining so I went along with it. Then we went to ATT to cancel installation and to fix wifi calling on his phone. Somehow they had disabled it. I didn’t even tell him about Kathy’s DM and her ATT issues.
We went to the Middle Eastern deli yesterday and they had chili powder at a good price. I have always had the American style chili powder which is a blend of chiles and other spices. This stuff is made in India and is pure red chili powder. Iggy tasted it and said I would need to adjust the dosage down on all my recipes. It is hot, hot, hot 🥵.
We had some heavy rain and wind last night and the temperatures have dropped. We have the cool front today. We won’t even reach 40 today but should warm up as the week goes by.
Iggy is already cooking this morning. He has beef tongue bubbling away. Smells awful. He is also stuffing zucchini with rice, onion and pine nuts and will cook in a tomato sauce.
Have a good Sunday all.

Kathy, The Day of the Doctor happens to be on the next disc in the Matt Smith collection I've been watching. It's possible that the HBO hall of fame special will be available on YouTube. That's how we have been able to watch John Oliver since we got cut off. I had been on the original WW program way back when you were forced to eat liver once a week. I came back when they introduced Points Plus, which I think was about 2010. PP worked for a couple of months and I was losing about a lb a week and then the losses just stopped. I did give it about 3 more months and nothing was still happening, so I moved on and eventually found MFP. The only issue I have with it is that it lumps all sugars together and, with the amount of fruit I eat, I am always over their calculation on how much sugar I should have. Enjoy your 86 today. We are at 45 right now and have a freeze predicted for tonight and then back into the 70s, like we were yesterday, by the end of the week.
I try to be disciplined, Chele, but sometimes it's not easy. I think the best thing I did for my digestive system was give up dairy. Making sure to eat more fiber rich foods also helped quite a bit and there are some days that I double what MFP calculates as my desired fiber intake for the day. Did you see me turn up my nose when I read "beef tongue" in your post? The zucchini sounds good though. My kitchen may also not smell too good shortly. Dale likes the Mexican yellow rice and back when I was healing a stomach ulcer, it actually used to make me sick to smell it. He usually cooks it when I'm not home but he forgot so I will hold my nose, turn the exhaust fan on high and cook it for him. Beans are in the Instant Pot doing natural release. He also bought a box of cornbread yesterday so I will make that for him as well. I hope Iggy will err on the side of caution with that Indian chili powder. You can always add if it needs a bit more, but you can't take it away once it's in there. Did you have lunch at the Middle Eastern deli or was it just a shopping trip? I had to buy a rather large container of Korean chili powder in order to make the kimchi but haven't tried it on anything yet, but it smells pretty strong. I guess if your sinuses are giving you fits, just open your Indian chili powder and take a whiff. I hope you will be happy with Spectrum and it will be worth the extra you have to pay.
Liz, I hope you had a restful day yesterday after doing your errands.
I'll bet you are sleeping late, Linda. I know Micki was thrilled to see you, even though he seems to enjoy being at "camp". I hope the food switch will go smoothly.
Becky, how cold was it this morning at your house? Given that we have a freeze coming, I would guess it might be pretty cold there right now. You said you had wildflowers but not bluebonnets. What kinds do you have? I have started seeing some wild mustard around here and we had a bunch of dead nettle in the front yard this year, which is new for us. I wish it would squeeze out the Johnson grass that comes later in the year. The dandelions are also starting to pop up and I love them--especially on salads.
Dale went for a run in the mountains so Arya and I will be doing some cooking while he's gone and then I have a washer load of workout clothes to do when he gets home. Dale informed me this morning that he plans to do a trail 50K race in November, which is equivalent to a marathon plus almost a 10K. It's called the Upchuck 50K, so I hope he doesn't.
Happy Sunday, Chicks!

Karen, I am thinking about hurling just at the thought of 50k. We went to the gourmet store and got sushi for lunch and just went to the deli for pita and olive oil.
We couldn’t maintain our Mediterranean credentials without olive oil. I use it much more sparingly than does Iggy. His DM has some land and has grown olives all his life, so they and an abundant supply of olives and olive oil. She sells the excess. His DS will probably take over the olive business when DM gives it up. She is 85 and going strong but osteoarthritis is starting to slow her down some.
I hope your yellow rice stench clears out quickly. The tongue is in the fridge and now it stinks. That will keep me out of there, I can tell you. Yuck!

Linda, hope you had a good trip back home. I'm sure Micki was thrilled to see you and Bob. I think Becky was talking about WW's current program which is called Freestyle or FS for short. Chele, ewwwww on the beef tongue! My dad used to cook that sometimes and I hated the smell. The stuffed zuchini sounds good and will hopefully cancel out the smell. DM is considering going back to Spectrum which is what she had before AT&T. AT&T did a big push to get people to switch when they added fiber optics here and some people seem happy with it, but others have had issues. I use the American style chili powder and cayenne when I make chili. The cayenne sounds similar to your Indian chili powder since it's a pure and very hot pepper. I use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of the cayenne vs. 1 or 2 tablespoons of the chili powder to give you an idea of the difference in heat. Karen, I think you'd find that most of your foods are on WW now. They've really expanded the database since you were last using it. You're doing so well on MFP that I don't think you have any reason to switch. I hope MFP can separate the sugars at some point. That would be a great addition. I wonder what's in the yellow rice that you don't like. Maybe the saffron? I don't remember it having a different smell than regular rice, but haven't had it for awhile. I was impressed that Dale did the marathon, but 50K sounds like it deserves its name! Chele, DM has a salad almost every day for lunch and uses EVOO on it. I was talking to DS yesterday and we agreed that if we ate exactly what she does our extra weight would disappear. I would say she eats something close to the Mediterranean diet. I saw that Stevie Nicks was the first woman to get into the Hall of Fame with a group and by herself. I'll have to see if there's a way to watch the program on YouTube as Karen suggested.
Enjoy your Sunday!

Good to be in our own beds. You can bet Micki stayed close...and was happy to get his usual walk this morning. I am happy to lie here next to him with coffee.
Two things to do...mow our little lawn and head to the grocery store. We really need to deal with the weight we have put on this last year. Just remembered I need to get new food to start converting him.

Karen I hope you enjoy lunch with your 3 GF's tomorrow.Your plan would be too restrictive for me.I like a little more freedom in what I eat. However we all need to do what works best for us.Yes I'm doing WW digital for 3 months to see if I continue to maintain with freestyle. While the WW database isn't as extensive as MFP it has expanded it's food database since freestyle.
Kathy I don't know if you received another email from WW today but for the next 2 days their special is about $10 cheaper. If I had waited one day I should have known they would come up with a new special once yesterdays ended.LOL.I ended up walking in the wind this afternoon. The sun had come out but didn't last long and by time I walked outside it was 52 and 12 MPH wind.I would love to have your 86 degrees today.
Linda I hope you have gotten some rest today.
Chele I didn't notice much sodium in the salad but last night we had the last of the chili beans. It wasn't a very big serving for either of us and both of us could taste the sodium I guess because it was the last of it.I have been surprised but I have weighed the exact same weight for 5 days in a row now. That has never happened before.I hope you will be happy with Spectrum even if it costs more.Elgin gets Spectrum but it doesn't come out here.ATT internet doesn't even reach us but a little way from us they can get ATT internet.Beef tongue doesn't even sound appealing so I'm sure it doesn't smell good either.
