WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

24 points 1698 calories 19 APs (4.5 mile run and step class)
Itās kind of a pain tracking the zero point foods, but Iāll do it for a few weeks and then just track points. I still havenāt figure out how to see macros. I thought it was an option, but perhaps itās something theyāre planning for a future update. Combining calories with points is eye opening. I can really see why some people struggle to lose on Freestyle. I didnāt measure the zero point foods, just estimated.
Nancy, great step count yesterday. Do you find that your Fitbit doesnāt register steps when youāre pushing a shopping cart? I still push with one hand, even with an Apple Watch. Do you have a calorie count for the MuShu?

I forgot to mention my TurboTax headache. I went on to finalize our taxes, and it wasnāt able to open the 2018 file. Somehow, my taxes were sitting in the 2017 file. Combine this with the fact that my laptop is 9 years old and very slow, and I was frustrated. I called tech support, and she was basically accusing me of not following instructions because of my slow processing speed. She was able to get into my computer, and did indeed verify that my 2018 file was blank and said my taxes needed to be redone. I closed the file, reopened it, and downloaded the most recent updates. Suddenly, out of nowhere, my taxes were back in the 2018 file! Unfortunately, we still owe a bundle of money. Everything has been printed for our records and efiled. Iām glad to be done. Every year itās such a hassle.

Hi BFFs, It was such a nice warm day yesterday. I was out and about from 8 am to 8 pm. Visited family and went for a nice nature walk with 7 yr old niece and had a picnic. I enjoyed a grilled chicken salad with crasins and sliced almonds for lunch and dinner was a Healthy Choice chicken and broccoli w/ Alfredo sauce (3sp). Not bad for frozen food. Dessert was chilly cow ice cream w/ sf syrup, cool whip and sprinkles, nice treat!
Jan, counting calories and sodium was an eye opener! Itās good for me to track one or two days, Thatās long enough...lol my mushu version w/ edamame and stir fry sauce comes to 142 cal, 11.5 protein, 3 fat. Best to enter recipe the way you make it and how many servings you get out of it. Glad your taxes are complete but what a pain....so frustrating...
Nancy, Great job getting right back on track!
Today will be getting ready for trip....fingers crossed weāll be able to go...

Jan - Yes tracking points and calories is eye opening. It certainly explained why I wasn't losing weight on freestyle. Hmmm I never thought about the shopping cart and steps. I'll check it out next Saturday. I count each portion of mushu as 1 point and 90 calories.

It was snowy, wet 8 miles this morning. It was breezy and snowing, yet I saw 3 robins with worms in their mouths. There are signs of spring every day. I took a new route, and the time went fast.
I figured out how to see my macros on iTrackbites. Itās kind of clunky, and I would recommend a change to the app. Instead of giving the % of calories for each macro (like 30% fat, 30% protein, 60% carbs), it gives your % of each that youāve met. (Like 110% carbs, etc.). I did the math, and will monitor it for a few days. I had 30% protein, 54% carbs, and 36% fat. Iād like to increase my protein and reduce my fat and possibly carbs.
Lori, what a nice Saturday you had. I hope you get to go on your trip. I bet they wrap up the jury by Tuesday.
Nancy, Iām thinking there will be changes to the WW plan in December. I can see where people who are eating nothing but crap will lose, but people who already eat a fairly healthy diet seem to struggle on Freestyle. Theyāve shifted the focus from HOW to lose weight to WHY weāre overweight and the emotions behind it. Both need to be addressed, IMO.

Jan - "I can see where people who are eating nothing but crap will lose, but people who already eat a fairly healthy diet seem to struggle on Freestyle". I'm not sure I understand why you're saying that. I'm definitely most successful when counting 1200 calories. I'll probably get back to that before long. Still sticking to just points at the moment. Our leader stresses mindset a lot. She also wants to get us away from perfectionism. That's my biggest challenge. Try as I may, I still tend toward the on again off again mentality. Thus my recent binge. I don't know where I fit on the healthy/crap spectrum. I do like my treats but also get in my fair share of fruits, veggies and proteins. Portion control is my greatest strength I think. The one thing I know is that I can't wing it.

Nancy, I put you into the healthy eating category. Itās been my experience that people eating a lot of processed foods with chemicals, as well as people who eat out frequently, do much better when they switch to a whole foods diet that requires minimal to no counting. I include Freestyle in this, as thereās much less counting than in previous plans. I watched it happen just recently during our fitness/weight loss challenge at work. Looking back on my statement, maybe it was confusing. What I meant to say was āpeople who used to eat only crapā.
One of my new go-to snacks is celery with Laughing Cow cheese. I forgot how good that is!

I won't be able to open the thread as I'm going to sleep early so I can get up in time for early Dr's appt. So here are my stats:
C96D3, 19 points, 4 rollovers, 8 water, 11,117 steps
3 x around mall with friend this morning, treadmill after pool with another friend this evening.
Jan - I think we're in agreement. So people who have been eating junk with no accountability will do well on Freestyle as they would do well on any program. But people who have already been eating a healthy diet won't notice meaningful weight loss from freestyle. Is that what you're saying?
