Smile more, stress less!!
More on the subject of taking care of ourselves. As we all know, our surroundings have a big effect on our general well being, the way we see ourselves, and our over all health.
Do you see a connection between the clutter in your home & your general well-being?
What about keeping your closet & other belongings straight, or at least in some order, make you feel better about yourself?
When you set down to a meal, do you enjoy your food more if you put it on a pretty plate, maybe even a nice napkin & glassware?
When your clothing is clean & ready to be worn, easy to access when you open your closet, are you more likely to make cheerful choices.
Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror & pick out the positive things about yourself instead of the negative?
Thoughts? Ideas?
FUN: Have you ever hung wallpaper?

Do you see a connection between the clutter in your home & your general well-being? ** Sometimes. I get annoyed when I can't find a spot to put something because other stuff is sitting in the way.
What about keeping your closet & other belongings straight, or at least in some order, make you feel better about yourself? ** Not particularly, unless for some reason it is really a jumbled mess. That doesn't happen very often.
When you set down to a meal, do you enjoy your food more if you put it on a pretty plate, maybe even a nice napkin & glassware? ** I do try to use real dishes for my evening meal. It's not so much that I enjoy my food more, it's just because I don't want to get in the habit of using paper plates all the time. It's just nicer and more normal.
When your clothing is clean & ready to be worn, easy to access when you open your closet, are you more likely to make cheerful choices. ** Not especially. I really don't think much about it unless there is something special I want to wear and it is in the hamper to be washed.
Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror & pick out the positive things about yourself instead of the negative? ** That depends on my mood. If I'm feeling especially happy/content I see things more positively. If I'm having negative feelings or I have to do something I don't really want to do, I see more negatively. Most of the time it is more neutral.
I have hung wallpaper a couple times. Didn't like doing it much.

Everyone who knows me, knows that I am not the neatest person on earth. I do think that I feel better when I don't have to look at a mess.
I have tried in recent years, to keep my things in some better order. I have been trying to de-clutter my house, I try to throw away something small every day, maybe just an old magazine or an old pen that doesn't write. It does help. I got this tip from DH's niece, who is the mother of 4 active kids & has a large house to take care of & a job. She seems to make it all seem effortless.
I do enjoy picking out what I am going to wear from a semi-organized closet. (notice I said semi-organized)
We almost always eat out of real plates at night. I don't like to eat hot foods off paper plates. We even eat breakfast off real plates if we are having eggs, or something hot. I'm not sure if the food is more appetizing or not, I usually just gobble it down whatever it is.
FUN: I have hung quite a lot of wallpaper in my day, in fact my living room & hallway are still papered. I would love to get it down, but is such a huge job. In fact, I think the living room may almost be impossible. It is a big room with high ceilings. Guess I will just have to let the next owners worry about it.

Do you see a connection between the clutter in your home & your general well-being? Yes, because I get frustrated not being able to find something or purchasing it again because I can't find it. A on-going work in progress. What about keeping your closet & other belongings straight, or at least in some order, make you feel better about yourself? I keep my closet in pretty good order. I don't have a big closet, so keeping it neat is important. When you set down to a meal, do you enjoy your food more if you put it on a pretty plate, maybe even a nice napkin & glassware? I always use real plates. I have all the different colors of fiesta ware and enjoy making sure that my food and plate don't clash. Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror & pick out the positive things about yourself instead of the negative? Pretty neutral. Thoughts? Ideas?FUN: Have you ever hung wallpaper? I have hung lots of wall paper. I like doing it and actually would like to redo my hallway. I just haven't found the right wallpaper. I would love to have found the same one as is hanging there but it is no longer in stock.

Do you see a connection between the clutter in your home & your general well-being? Hate to admit it BUT over time it can become invisible to me. That said...when it is neat and tidy and there is no clutter and it is clean it does feel "lighter" somehow.
What about keeping your closet & other belongings straight, or at least in some order, make you feel better about yourself? I have always tended to keep the hidden places in my house tidier than the ones everyone can see. Open my kitchen cupboards and they are neat as a pin. My underwear drawers are even in order by color and style...go figure. Just doesn't carry over into other areas of my life
When you set down to a meal, do you enjoy your food more if you put it on a pretty plate, maybe even a nice napkin & glassware? I enjoy it either way...do enjoy eating at a nice table setting with friends sometimes.
When your clothing is clean & ready to be worn, easy to access when you open your closet, are you more likely to make cheerful choices. Perhaps? If I want to wear something and it is NOT clean then it can be discombobulating...otherwise not a big deal.
Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror & pick out the positive things about yourself instead of the negative? Not frequently BUT when I do look in the mirror while putting lotion on I will sometimes praise myself and love my body parts seen in the mirror even though they are no longer young. FUN: Have you ever hung wallpaper? Never...have visions of it falling all over me or becoming entangled and trapped in it!

Do you see a connection between the clutter in your home & your general well-being? No, not really. The major thought for me is wanting to find (make) time to clean out and donate items that I no longer need. It's a task I put off.
What about keeping your closet & other belongings straight, or at least in some order, make you feel better about yourself? Things are usually in order...at least in a system I understand. What can get things out of order are things like the recent snow melt/thaw. There was some concern that we could get some water in the basement, so I was quickly re-arranging and moving. Now, without the pressure of an emergency, I haven't been in any hurry to get things back into place.
When you set down to a meal, do you enjoy your food more if you put it on a pretty plate, maybe even a nice napkin & glassware? We don't really use pretty plates, ever day corelle type.
When your clothing is clean & ready to be worn, easy to access when you open your closet, are you more likely to make cheerful choices. I do have clothes ready to wear (although there are a couple things waiting for buttons, hem repair kind of things).
Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror & pick out the positive things about yourself instead of the negative? Always seems so easy to see the negative, but at the least, I try to be thankful/grateful about all the good things too.
FUN: Have you ever hung wallpaper? Long ago, when I was a teen or young adult, helping my mom wallpaper walls in my childhood home.

Do you see a connection between the clutter in your home & your general well-being? I don't. I'm in good health and I feel fit and am generally a happy person. I think clearly. And I clutter. A lot. I'm not as bad as my DM was; after she died, I was clearing out the kitchen drawers and must have found a thousand washed and dried plastic bags and pieces of Saran Wrap that had been used and were all ready to be used again...
What about keeping your closet & other belongings straight, or at least in some order, make you feel better about yourself? I organize my clothings because it's easier to find what I want to wear, not to make myself feel better about myself. Again, I don't see a connection IN MY OWN LIFE between these two.
When you set down to a meal, do you enjoy your food more if you put it on a pretty plate, maybe even a nice napkin & glassware? Nope.
When your clothing is clean & ready to be worn, easy to access when you open your closet, are you more likely to make cheerful choices. I don't own clothing I don't like. All my choices, therefore, are good ones.
Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror & pick out the positive things about yourself instead of the negative? Absolutely! I specifically look for certain things: some dresses / skirts hit me in the wrong place (depending on my weight distribution that particular day), so I change into something different, or (like last weekend) accessorize in such a way as to camouflage what I don't want showing (I added a cardigan and belted it a few days ago).
FUN: Have you ever hung wallpaper?
Never. I once helped remove wallpaper, and I once painted the wall from which the wallpaper had been removed, but I myself have never hung any.
