I have completed 10 days of Oprah’s and Deepak Chopra’s meditation. Day 1 the cat kept meowing for food Day 3 the dog decided to lick my legs Day 4 my husband came home talking to me not knowing what I was doing Day. 8 daughter came with the baby So yesterday day 10 I realized my best 20 minutes of quiet was in the car. Day 9 I listened as I drove on less traveled surface streets downtown NO I did not close my eyes but instead focused on the beauty of nature as I repeated the mantra. Day 10 I listened as I was driving on less traveled streets to a meeting. Today’s mantra is namaste

jamescat1, your meditation practice sounds like mine too. That is why I enjoy my yoga class; it's about the only time I can focus.

jamescat1Seems like while trying to execute medication you learned just how disruptive the home environment can be. The car sounds like a great place to meditate.

Sometimes I just close my eyes and think good thoughts when the time seems right. That might be while I am holding a puppy or a chicken, or even raking out the chicken run.
I think if I attempted organized meditation I would be like the Princess and the Pea. Every little thing would intrude and bother me. But there are times when I am outside, looking at our little stream, watching hawks fly above, that I achieve a lovely level of peace. My methods wouldn't sell books but they work for me.
Best of luck with your meditation attempts, Audrey!

I have done a lot of meditation guided and in classes but I’ve never developed a daily practice because things always get in the way.My newfound listening to Deepak when driving is actually very relaxing because his voice is so soothingUnlike the cat’s meows.

I have done many of their 21 day meditations. I am so lucky to have a cat who sleeps all day and only one other person in the house (who is also doing the meditations). Glad you are still gleaning something from it. Namaste - Meaning: The divine light in me sees and honors the divine light in you

We end our weekly Yoga classes saying, "Shanti, shanti, shanti" which means peace for yourself, to the people surrounding you and to the world. (that's what our teacher says)
Dr. Google says: In Buddhist and Hindu traditions you chant shanti three times to represent peace in body, speech, and mind.

It has over 10,000 mediations and music. One of the songs I listen to is Om Shanti Om Om=the sound of the universe. On iTunes one of the songs I purchased Is Om Shanti by Robert Gass. It's all so very soothing and centering.

That sounds like a great idea. Where do you get his audio materials?

NatureLover , https://chopracentermeditation.com They are already well into the current 21 days, but you can always jump in. You can sign up through email or facebook. They are free for 27 days after starting (there is always a bonus 22nd day) and then each one is available for five days after the initial time. I have purchased several that I want to keep. They are about $40 dollars, but worth it to me.
