Good Morning Chicks,
Kathy - hope that heat doesn't continue and overtake any spring temps you might have hoped to have. I actually bought a book What Your Clutter is Trying to Tell You, by Kerri L. Richardson; it is informative and at least had me starting to get some of my de-cluttering started. Small projects completed is a good way to start. How are you feeling at this point? Has the stress from no longer being at the job gone completely? I am not a SF geek but have always enjoyed some of the shows and movies very much. I remember watching Lost In Space as a kid, Star Trek, later I did watch Babylon 5, and Battlestar Galactica. Love Star Trek movies, Star Wars movies and have read quite a few of the Star Wars books.
Chele - how are the allergies doing? Happy you picked up your veggies. St. Crazy was crazier than normal as they rolled out a Room Service program along with autonomous tugs that really was a debacle! Spent 2 days on one of the floors just trouble-shooting trays and trying to keep folks sane. Apparently the powers that be forgot that just because we start a new program doesn't mean the negative impact should become our patient's problems. It was UGLY!! Can't stand when people who think they know everything don't know anywhere near enough!! Any plans for the weekend? We had drizzle and chilly rain yesterday. I got to visit one of our regional hospitals yesterday that is about 20 minutes away from me here at home. When I left there in the early afternoon it was actually sleeting. The good part was getting to leave early and have some me time since my knees were still screaming.
Linda - how is Micki doing? Is he eating more normally now? Any more upset tummy? We've got really high pollen here in the east as well. Allergies have been exceedingly cranky! Lovely avatar. The pups are sneezing from all their sniffing outside and all the pollen which doesn't help Zoe's allergies at all. Have the joints recovered from the trip?
Becky - I hope the cortisone shots give you some relief. I found they helped me somewhat but not as much as the Gel One shots did. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get the approval soon. X-Rays won't really show all that much other than indications of arthritis; most of the time only a CT Scan or MRI will give them the information needed to appropriately treat you. WOW on those temperatures and the crazy fluctuations! Although yesterday we barely made 40 and by Monday we should hit 70. Hope that Kenneth and the fur babies are all doing well!
Karen - congrats on the 25% club! How are the feets feeling? Glad to know that Dale has found something he likes and will be able to work part-time. I'm all too often feeling concerned that I won't be able to retire with the way things are going. Zoe's tail remains a problem and I think I am going to have to call the vet and get serious about what we are going to do. Wally's belly seems to be much better and he is continuing to adjust. DS called me last night and asked me to call SM as she's been telling her she hasn't heard from me; which is true. I'm lucky most of the time to just have the weekends to rest up enough to head back in and do it all again on Monday. I need to get to Sam's Club today for a few bulk items for the house and my normal pet food store run as well. Counting down somewhat that roughly 6 weeks until OBX! Did too much walking and traveling up and down bringing trays this week; the knees are not happy and neither is the bad hip. They wanted volunteers for this weekend but I would have ended up in an ED if I had tried. Did you get all the different foods you wanted from WF and Publix?
Alright dear ladies, I am off to call SM and then do my errands. I hope you all have a nice and relaxing day! Ciao for now!

Liz, sure hope the new program has settled by the time you get back on Monday.
Micki, seems ok, but now I have to wean him off hamburger and rice!
Our pollen is finally easing up...down to 10.2. Last anivrmber we installed electristat AC filters which catch most of it and air scrubbers on the air handlers. That helps a lot, until you step outside with the dog.
meds are working but making me a little sleepy and tired..or constantly getting up at night...Bob has to renew his library card,so he can drive me to pick up a book I reserved,
just remembered I have plants in the back yard I bought Thursday! oops. I better get those in before the mid 90s sudden warm up Sunday. Fortunately that will go away Tuesday. There have been a lot of Aprils where we were already in 100s and boy am I glad it isn't this year.

check anything low sugar supposedly natural, like yogurt. things ending in āolā like this are poisonous to dogs.

Liz, it looks like we're in for more thunderstorms today and the clouds are building up. Even with the clouds, it's 87 already. I guess this is spring or it would be in the 90s! Thanks for the rec on the book. I just downloaded a sample to my Kindle and will check it out. I see that Gretchen Rubin has one out called Outer Order, Inner Calm: Declutter and Organize to Make More Room for Happiness. I think the job stress is mostly gone and I've stopped thinking like I have to go back for the most part. I'm still uneasy over the whole healthcare situation, but it sounds like they're not going to try and touch things until 2021 when the new Congress will come in. Unless the courts overturn the whole ACA and plunge everything into chaos, but that seems unlikely. That's a pretty geeky list of movies for a non SF geek. I think you're in denial and are one of us. I tried looking up autonomous tugs and it came up with articles on tugboats! I assume it's some kind of automated system for delivering the trays? Hope the new system settles down soon. Hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend. Linda, I loved Torchwood too. Capt. Jack appears in a few episodes of Doctor Who as well. Yikes on the xylitol in the peanut butter. I don't think that's good for people either. My idea for lower sugar products is to just put less sugar in them! Waving to Karen, Becky, and Chele.

Thanks for the start, Liz. Just curious as to what it is besides National Siamese Cat Day. You kind of trailed off there on your start. Sorry about the Room Service mess. Who keeps you sane while you're trying to keep other people sane? I know it's a risk at her age, but you may want to consider surgery for Zoe's tail, since it's not healing on its own. Maybe they can keep it on the low side for the anesthesia. Are the knees doing better than they were yesterday? Feet aren't bad today. In fact, I wore new Chacos to kayak today and one of the straps go right over the scars and there wasn't that much pain. When are you going to call SM? I guess her phone is only able to receive calls? Do you have a plan yet on getting the hip fixed and figuring out what might help the knees? I also made a stop at my favorite Ingles on Monday, so that stop plus WF and Publix had everything on my shopping list. Six weeks and counting on OBX! Shouldn't have to worry about an evacuation. They are having beautiful weather this weekend, so I hope they save some of that for your visit. Hope you get your errands done and have plenty of time to put your feet up and rest those knees. Linda, will you start Micki on the Royal Canin as you are weaning him off the hamburger and rice? Good that you can abate most of the indoor allergens, but sorry you're still suffering. Are you still getting some rain? Thanks for posting about the "ol" poisons. Those don't come into our house for any of us. Arya gets plain old ordinary yogurt and all our nut butters are single ingredient. I hope your storms today won't be like what you woke up to yesterday, Kathy. I need to see if I can find Torchwood. I agree with you on less sugar. I hope things will be a little cooler after the storms. I cooked for Arya this morning and baked a butternut squash for her and Tater Tots for Dale. Early afternoon I took the kayak out and you should see the pollen floating on the surface of the lake! YUCK! Kayak had to be washed off before putting it up. There is a fishing tournament this weekend, so I definitely had company out there. Dale pulled a tick off my neck a little while ago, so the pollen isn't our only issue here. I think Arya must have brought it to bed last night and it crawled off her onto me because I wasn't anywhere yesterday that it could have attached directly to me. Guess it's time for her first dose of flea and tick stuff and I need to start using my essential oils whenever I go out. Waving to Chele and Becky.

Liz Thanks for the weekend start. The cortisone shots have been better than nothing but I still need the gel shots.I think he wants the new x-rays to see how much more damage has been done.He knows it's arthritis.Kenneth is fine. The fur babies are fine except Scooter. She has had a traumatic day with the thunder today. With it being cloudy all day it's only 68 here and it feels good.We did get 1" today but tomorrow it's supposed to come back.We need the rain though.I hope the vet can figure out something for Zoe's tail.
They are showing Taylor on the Austin news right now.Main Street is completely flooded. They got around 6" rain today. We did have plans to go to Taylor for a memorial service for a man Kenneth worked with years ago but Kenneth didn't feel good about going with the possible severe weather predicted and I'm so glad we didn't go.Another friend he used to work with yrs ago went to it and they had to pull over in 2 different parking lots before they made it back to Dripping Springs.
Waving to all.

Liz, thanks for the start. I have always loved Siamese cats but my kitties were mixed. Lola had Siamese in her, although she did not look like one. Oh, boy, on the automated trolleys. It seems like that made your life hell. I hope it is better next week. You work enough hours without volunteering on the weekend. I hope the call with SM went well. I have to agree with Karen on the phone working both ways, but my DM would never call me either. She said I was never home and she hated talking to a machine. I wondered how Zoeās allergies and tail were doing. How is Gary doing? I also agree with Kathy on you being a closet SF geek. I am sure you had quite a walk through Samās Club. Those are big places. I hope the knees and hips did okay.
Linda, I hope the meds make you well soon. I am a big Ursula Le Guin fan and Marion Zimmer Bradley as well as Harlan Ellison and Isaac Asimov. I met Asimov at a book signing at the University of Dayton bookstore in 1975 or 1976. He was funny and gracious. Yes, you are definitely a SF geek especially writing fan fiction and a novel and teaching it.
Kathy, I have been concerned about the health insurance as well. It is almost enough to make me a socialist.
Karen, I am glad the Chacos didnāt hurt the scars too much and you are back in the kayak. Yikes on the tick. Yes, you definitely need to take precautions. Thanks for the list of plants. Basil may repel flies but they seem to love parsley. I have used marigolds next to roses to keep the aphids away.
Becky, I hope you are having a good day.
It has been a warm but cloudy day. Iggy is not feeling well today and had been a cranky SOB. I went out just to get out of the house and went to the strip mall where Elder Beerman used to be. There is an At Home store now with home furnishings. It is huge. At the mall across the street there was an empty space where Circuit City used to be and now there is a Burlington. We havenāt had either store in this part of town before. I got a lot of steps in just looking and am proud to say I bought nothing. We are expecting to close to 70Ā° tomorrow but with rain. That will be good for the grass.

Becky, you posted before while I was typing. I am glad you didnāt go to Taylor. That would have been scary. I hope Scooterās nerves are calming down after the storms.

It is āNo Houseworkā Day. I cooked but I didnāt clean. Grumpy is feeling a little better today. It is not a viral or bacterial issue but I wonāt go into what ails him. It is a high of 67Ā° and we are expecting thunderstorms later but not like Texas.
I hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Happy Sunday Chicks, Chele -we have been pretty sunny, breezy and around 60 which is great weather but terrible on the allergies. I managed to get through Sam's but you're right that it did take a bit of a toll on the knees. I managed to get the pups to the park and Wally did pretty well so I was happy. How is the grumpy one this afternoon? I have been resting this afternoon other than the grocery store this morning and the pups out for a walk. Kathy - yeah, maybe I am a closet geek , the autonomous tugs we're using are from Aethon. If you google them, you will see them. Apparently they did do a bit better yesterday so I am glad for our patients. Healthcare is scary for you who are retired and even for those of us working. I need to figure out how to get the other hip done and potentially at least one knee and not have a negative impact on my job. I can't stand that after all these years of working an paying in, I need the coverage and I have to worry about the butt heads I work for! How has the weekend been for you? Becky - glad you didn't go to Taylor with that incredible amount of rainfall! I hope there won't be too much more damage from the arthritis but I completely understand. I am a walking Osteo human. Good to know the fur babies are well and Zoe is much like Scooter and does NOT like thunder at all. You really have been up and down with the temps lately. Linda - I had read about the peanut butter thing awhile ago. I only keep natural peanut butter in the house for me and the dogs! How are you feeling today? Karen - I guess I didn't really present the history fact too well. It was about the gent who first came out with the flexible camera film from Eastman. Very happy to hear that the feets did well on the kayaking adventure. I did speak to SM and she is going to my cousins house for the Saturday before Easter to do baking and then back again for Easter Sunday. I told her we were going to stop and see Gary's mom and then her but she wanted to go to my cousins' house so I did not disagree. Traveling on Easter Sunday is just too taxing and frustrating on the turnpike so it was going to be Saturday or nothing. Just tired and trying to keep the knees going. They really did get put through too much being on my feet all day Wed. through Frid. I was surprised I even did 11K+ steps yesterday. I hope you all have a nice and safe evening ladies. Be well and ciao for now~

Becky, I don't blame you for staying off the roads yesterday. The roads in Cen TX don't seem to drain right. I'll bet there weren't many people braving the memorial service in those conditions. Poor Scooter! I hope things are back to normal for her today. The dog we had before Phoebe (Kira) was not fond of thunder, but it never bothered Phoebe (who was an outdoor dog before she adopted us) and so far so good with Arya, but she is scared of just about everything but.
Sorry to hear Iggy is under the weather, Chele. I hope he's feeling better and doesn't have to go to work tomorrow not feeling well. WOW! on no purchases and just getting steps. No housework is a good thing. What did you cook? The skies are clouding up and I think we will have some rain later on and tomorrow is 80% chance.
Kathy, have you gotten storms? How humid is it? Have you been reading all about getting organized? I read several books but nothing ever stuck.
Did you get your plants into the ground, Linda? I hope being outside didn't aggravate your allergies too terribly. How's Micki doing with the food transition?
Liz, did you get your errands run yesterday? Has the office left you alone this weekend? Don't blame you for not wanting to travel on the turnpike on Easter Sunday. If she would rather see your cousin, so be it. Do I remember that DS will be out of town for Easter? I hate you work for such a-holes that you have to worry about doing surgery that if you don't have it done could adversely affect your future health. It's just not right.
I spent a chunk of the morning developing a yoga routine for tomorrow, so no more doing the same routine and being tied to starting at a certain time of the morning. This afternoon I transplanted some of the seedlings. The squash and beans are doing amazingly well and the kale and mixed greens are doing ok. The tomatoes and herbs aren't coming along as quickly so I will wait a week or two to transplant them. The former tick location is kind of swollen but I have been putting tea tree and lavender essential oils on it quite frequently and it's not itching at the moment. I don't think it was attached long enough to cause any diseases. I put Arya's flea and tick stuff on before bedtime and she was not happy. It's pretty strong. She kept trying to get away from the smell and every place she went, she could still smell it. I'm not sure she still knows it's on her. The thing I wish it didn't do is stain her fur where I put it kind of light orangish. So she has this stripe down her back. I covered all exposed skin with lavender essential oil and will continue doing that just in case, so I need to stop at Earth Fare on Thursday to pick up a big bottle.

Karen, we had some more rain this morning, but no big storms. We need the rain, so not complaining. It's looked like we're going to get more rain all day, but I don't think we've gotten much more. Interesting chart on the plants and I may have to get some peppermint since those are the pests we have most around here. Yikes on the tick! There is a series premiering on BBCA tonight called A Discovery of Witches. Alex Kingston is in it, so I think I'll check it out.
Chele, I think they could improve our healthcare system a lot without us becoming socialists, but getting enough people in Congress to agree on something seems impossible. We have an At Home nearby and I keep meaning to check it out. A Home Goods store also opened up. Good job on not buying anything! Glad that Grumpy is improving.
Becky, glad the shots are helping a bit and hope they don't take too long to approve the gel shots. Glad you didn't get caught in all that rain. That looked scary.
Liz, I looked up the tugs and that's about what I was picturing. I'm glad they were doing a bit better today and hope things go smoothly this week. It's not right that you've paid in to healthcare all these years and now are worried about using it when you need it. I'm still amazed that your employer isn't more supportive since you're in the healthcare industry. The weekend has been pretty quiet and I've been working on my taxes. I just filed them and they were accepted, so I'm done with that for now.
Linda, hope those 100s stay away for now. We're getting awfully close to 90 and I remember some years when we got into the upper 90s in late April. Hope that doesn't happen this year.
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday evening.
