WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

32 points 1880 calories 24+ APs (5 mile run, interval class, half hour step class, plus two senior classes not counted )
I was just so darn hungry yesterday afternoon and evening. I did well, all things considered. I woke up with some muscular pain in the left side of my lower back. Thank goodness I was able to work without too much pain. Getting down onto the mat was my biggest challenge, and I couldn’t stay there seated with my first senior class. I have a lidocaine patch on this morning, and it seems a bit better.
Nancy, what good news! Jeez, the way they wanted to see you right away made it sound like it was serious. Pairing the calories with the points makes a huge difference in what I eat. Zero point foods are much more limited, and I find myself riding out my hunger longer. One of my best friends has lost 80 pounds, twice. She always says that you have to be willing to be hungry if you want to lose weight. She doesn’t mean light headed, ready to pass out hungry, but not eating every time you get a little hungry.
I also don’t eat out much, so when I do, I don’t worry about keeping my points/calories low. That doesn’t mean I order pasta Alfredo, but I splurge on dessert or something with cheese, or fries, etc.
Lori, I hope your first day back was an easy one, both with work and food. Re-entry can be hard!

Crazy busy at work yesterday. Last night I fell asleep before my snack so finished the day at 1000 calories, 11,550 steps, 20 min strength training and Pilates. Very happy with the scale, 138 - so the rest of the week will be freestyle. The way I'm eating and exercising has truly become my lifestyle!! I actually enjoyed every meal while I was away and did not feel deprived at all...I stayed away from dessert but did enjoy some fries, cheese, butter, sauces, pizza etc. I think when you know you'll being eating out alot and have long car rides just keeping away from things that will trigger a binge is hugh!!
Jan, with all your AP's I'm sure your body requires more food - I think it's okay to get to the point of feeling hungry but good that you listen to your body...I hope your back is feeling better (can be so painful) - biofreeze and anti-inflammatory (advil) are my go to's.....
Nancy, Enjoy your Canasta tonight! 2 pts for the WW bar doesn't seem too bad...but 1 point sounded better...lol
Kathy, hope your doing okay with all these Spring - Winter storms....thinking of you!!
Have a good day!!

Jan - Hunger is almost never an issue for me, but I do get the munchies. When I count calories and points, I have to pass up the desire for "a little something" that goes beyond my plan.
Lori - Fabulous WI. You've got these vacations licked. The snack bar is small. It was perfect for one point but I'm not sure it would be worth the 2 points.

I’ll be MIA in the morning; DH has to go for hand surgery and the clinic is 45 minutes away. He has to be there at 6. I plan to drop him off, then come back home and get a quick run in before work. DS17 will pick him up at 10.
Nancy, you’re lucky that hunger isn’t an issue for you, though I think sometimes the munchies can be just as bad. The almond flavor Enlightened bars are 2 points each. They are huge and delicious.
Lori, my back is starting to feel a lot better. What a relief! I ran without pain this morning, though it hurt a bit both before and after. I did quite a bit of foam rolling this morning. Someone gave me some Icy Hot patches. Holy moly. I lasted about 2 hours and had to take it off! Not feeling deprived is always important, but even more so on vacation. It’s a great feeling to indulge but not overdo it.

I forgot to mention: DS19 has less than one semester of science left, and a one semester course in life skills. He’ll be finished with his credits after that!! Now he has to pass the ACT Workkeys tests, three different sections. He’ll take that next Thursday. I’m nervous. We’ll work on the practice tests this weekend.

Jan - I'm definitely going to try the Enlightened bars. The big WW ones are 4 pts. Things sound somewhat promising for Nick. He has to be somewhat motivated to have accomplished this much. Fingers crossed for the tests. I wish I lived nearby. I'd love to do the practice tests with him.
