hi and late afternoon, maybe I should say good evening, Ruth I forgot to tell you about the car Nancy and Mike bought in march in mn when they came here.
very clean on the outside. when they got home they could not figure out why they were coughing and got sick .Mike went outside with a flashlight to check the inside. it was dirty. not sure what they found.
the question is how can a car dealer sell something dirty??
knowing Mike he let them know about it.
Delona And I had fun today.by the end of the day she was pretty tired.
there were things she wanted to get done.I told her at panera she did look tried. I had told her at the y let me know when she was tried and
we would call it a day.
well there was stuff she wanted done today. she just had to take the thing back to walmart and return it today.
think she found out she was not over the uri as much as she thought.
I got in the house and got in my jams rights away.well it was almost 4. we had heavy rain this afternoon.more to come tonight. not going anywhere.
yes ruth I have the pink scarf started .have not workedo n it for a few nights. phyl

Good evening! Ruth, so glad you got the new vehicle and it was maintained so very well. I have one comment on the backup cameras....while I do not rely on them for all my information when I back up- they just add one more dimmension of safety to the process and help eliminate a blind spot that automobile mirrors to not reveal. In that light I like back up cameras, they help complete a picture for me. Congrats on getting your Crojo back (love that term!). What did you think of Bluprint as opposed to Craftsy? Seems like you have to take out a membership now, which aint happening for me.....so I will no longer go on that site. Its a shame they used to have some lovely patterns. I too saw the lionbrand sale..Hope you got some good stuff and that it arrives soon!
CJ- I ended up finding that fabric store site just by googling the name and the location and it came right up easily. Thanks for reposting links though. Sorry your glasses were so pricey- yes they sure can be!!! I think Walmart and JC penney runs specials around late summer for kids going back to school. Perhaps you could try there sometime.
Sue-congrats on seeing the crocus- a sure sign of spring!!! Is this the second bloom this year for your Christmas cactus? Mine never blooms at Christmas....it blooms whenever. They are so easy to propogate with cuttings, and are pretty easy to care for. (Amazing that I have not killed mine!)
Phyl- sorry you had a bad day sewing yesterday. We all have days like that, where things just do not work out. Sorry that Delona is not feeliing herself, yes those urinary tract infections can really make you feel miserable. Glad you are in your jammies...think I will be in mine soon also!!
Lets see- babysat this am (for the granddaughters while DD took DGS to the doctor- he has strep). Then got a lot of housecleaning done today. I am a bit sore from lugging bags of mulch (which I spread this afternoon). Hope that I can get some quilting time in later on. For a week off, I have not put any machine time in at all. Ginny

Phyl, well at least I knew mine was dirty. It was dirty at the dealer but then they said they could take an additional $250 off if I declined the detailing so I did that. I'd rather have the money. I'm sorry to hear that Delona is still feeling the effects of her illness. I hope she's gets some rest and feels better soon. I spend a lot of time in my jammies
Ginny, I never relied on the mirrors either. I always had to turn to look but yes those backup cameras do definitely show a lot of things that you can't see just by looking either by turning or by using the mirrors. I'll get used to them. And yes it does sound like your week off is a very busy one. It's not time for mulch here yet. The weather is nice right now and is to get to 72 tomorrow but I'm sure it won't last. Your dear little grandson should feel better fast now that he has antibiotics for his strep.I thought you might have had time to work with your new gadgets but guess not.
Got an email today saying that I have to change phones. I use tracfone because I just don't talk on phones unless I really have to and I don't do internet or "apps" on it either so I just have a basic flip phone. Now Tracfone is eliminating that network and the new one won't accept my phone. They included phones in that email that supposedly are discounted for their "valuable" customers. They do have one flip phone but it's an Alcatel and we had one a couple years ago and didn't like it at all so I may end up with a smart phone after all.I have to decide.I'm not going to go for an expensive one because...well I wouldn't use it.
Been sitting around all day making hotpads...the one they call the magic one worked for me the other day so I made some of those. Yesterday I wasted a lot of time because I couldn't decide what to work on so today decided just to have those hotpads in progress so that I can pick them up anytime I'm at loose ends
Hi also to Meg, CJ and Betty and Sue

Ruth, glad you got the hang of those magic hotpads...once you find directions that work for you they are pretty easy. Great yarn busters too- for getting rid of small quantities of yarn. Well that stinks that you have to change phones....I hope that you are able to find a phone that is not too pricey and one you like. Seems like a lot of things are going that way- that the manufacturer no longer supports what you own and it forces an expensive upgrade. It sure stinks for the customer!!! Yup - been in my jammies for a couple of hours now.
Going to read awhile and then get some sleep. Night all Ginny

Ginny, I ended up making some kind of mistake on one of them and didn't realize until I got a lot of it done that it wasn't going to meet in the middle like it's supposed to. So I started over and am hoping that I don't find the same problem.I made it twice the size of the first one because I want to make sets of these with at least a couple sizes in each set.
It's a fairly nice day here but I don't think it's going to get to over 70 as they predicted.
I made yet another list of what projects need to be done and in what order. My yarn for the two afgans is supposed to be here Monday so I'd like to get the two things I'm working on right now done before then and I can start on those and work on the smaller things in between when I get tired of working on the same afgan all day. Besides those two things I want to finish this large hotpad and want to do that today and then spend the weekend working on the other two. I'm thinking that I need to do a one day a week project...probably Fridays...and take one of the many baby blankets I already have done except for edging and border each Friday and put those borders on. I think I have probably six blankets so after six weeks the should all be completely finished. Then I can start on finishing the other baby blankets I've started and haven't even finished the main part yet.One of those each week too although it will take more than one week for each one since none of them are that far along yet.
I hope you are all having a good day and have been and/or will be able to do some things you enjoy

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's a sunny, warm (80s) day here, but we're supposed to get some rain on Friday and Saturday. Hope your weather is nice. I took care of my errands and shopping on Tuesday and Wednesday, so now I don't need to go out over the holiday weekend. It's nice to avoid the traffic and people. I haven't had much energy the last few days, so I've mostly been reading. Hopefully I'll get to some crafting over the weekend. Do any of you have any plans for the holiday weekend? I'm staying home and this year I didn't plan any special meal, I'll just make something that I already have in the house. Hope you all get to spend time with family and especially any little children you get to see. It's so fun to enjoy a holiday through their eyes Take care everyone!

Good evening! Well, Ruth, I hope that you got the hang of the potholders so that they become effortless for you and easy to accomplish. I really remember nothing of the directions other than that even I was able to make them- which is a major accomplishment. Your list of items to crochet is impressive. I think it sounds like the afghan for Ds and DDIL is in the shipment from Lion Brand, am I right on that? Who is the other afghan for? I think its a great idea to plan to work on one UFO a week- it gives a good feeling of accomplishment and also makes room for more yarn. CJ- well hope that the rain is not too much and does not cause flooding. I hear its supposed to be heavy at times, but a fast moving system. Congrats on getting those errands done. Now you can relax and avoid the loonies on the road. With nicer weather and a holiday, well they all seem to come out, donโt they? I think we also have a full moon...Well I think you deserve a breather with all the straightening up you have been doing. I can imagine that there were days where you really had to force yourself to finish working on the decluttering. Now its time to rest and regroup. You have earned this time off. Hopefully in a day or so you will be inspired to work on that table runner that you spoke about- or another project waiting for completion. Hope that whatever you do decide to make this weekend is special for you and something that you enjoy. This am we went back to Lowes- I got 3 more bags of mulch (and am DONE with that now), plus some bird seed. Dh got more supplies for the mini bathroom rennovation that he is working on. He does beautiful work, but at times is such a perfectionist that these projects seem to take forever. This one is no exception. The bathroom will look nice and needed updating. We did not buy the best cabinets when he installed them around 25 years ago....and well they needed to be replaced. Its really just a new paintjob and cabinets, plus some crown molding that Dh will install to cover up a crummy sheet rock job by the builder. With the amount of work that Dh is putting into a small bathroom like this, I hope it lasts! Wasted about an hour and a half getting the order in for the wedding favors- they had a change in price which is not reflected on their web site. I attempted to order at the old price (which we have printed out from their web page) and then hit a snag when I realized they were attempting to charge a lot more. So I told them to cancel the order.....and lo and behold they gave me the lower price. But it took about 90 minutes to get that resolved. Yuck. I am so done with mulch....wish I could say the same about gardening. Got about 5 minutes of machine time in and some ironing for the BOM while I was on hold for the bridal favors. Hi to Phyl, Becky, Meg and Sue....and I hope I did not miss anyone else. Ginny

I started a message earlier and poof into cyberspace it went again.
CJ, I'm glad you got your errands done so you don't have to go out on the busy weekend. We aren't going out either until Monday or Tues..prob Monday. And we aren't having anything special for EAster dinner either. Since we went to dd's house this past weekend we'll stay home on this one. And I can understand why you don't have energy. Not only have you been working very hard on decluttering and organizing which is physically exhausting but when going thru family things like that it's also very emotional draining. I hope you get some rest. And yes, working on something with nice spring colors may help some
Ginny, it's going to be really nice to have an updated bathroom. My dh is the same in that he doesn't do well in things like that because he's also too much of a perfectionist and is always worrying that things aren't going to turn out perfect. He gets very stressed when doing those type things. So even though my bathrooms need updating I doubt that's going to happen. I may get to taking of the wallcovering...which comes off easily then sanding and painting.I'm sure dh will insist on helping but I'd rather do it myself
Sorry you had such a hard time with the ordering of wedding favors. I'm glad that they did give you that online price though and that you were able to do other things while waiting on hold on the phone. I really want to get some kind of phone that I can use and still be able to do other things while waiting or talking. I never was good at holding a phone between my ear and shoulder.
We had an interesting day. First dh went out to start the truck we just got and it wouldn't start. He was very stressedf about that. Finally discovered there was no gas in the tank. So when the woman brought it the other day she must have used the very last drop. The last preowned car we bought was filled with gas before we took it home but at another dealer. Then the glove box was jammed so that it wouldn't open more than about 3 inches so I finally was able to get my arm in there and push what was jamming it out of the way.Turned out it was the wiring and some gizmo for the sound system the prev owner had installed so dh moved it and taped it out of the way so it wouldn't fall in there again. THEN dh wanted to know some info from the sales papers and I couldn't find them anywhere. I searched and searched while praying and praying and after a long time went down to the bedroom and felt as though I should look on the floor near the rocking chair and there was the envelope. How it ever got there I will never know. I sure don't remember taking it down there and dh didn't take it down there either. We don't spend much time down there when it's warm like it's been.So all those things took up a lot of time so I didn't get much of anything else done today.I think I failed in magic potholder crochet. Got this really large one to the point where the edges were supposed to meet and they didn't. I'll leave it though and use it myself. It will fit together well enough for me to use. I'll try those again another time and meanwhile stick to my tried and true thermal stitch.
Oh and the full moon, yes after I finally found the car paperwork I was sitting at my window and the moon was rising over the mountain. It was huge and was beautiful.WAtching it and the proghorn antelope that were out there was very relaxing
Then I got a wonderful email from a dear friend I hadn't heard from in awhile so I was happy about that too so the day is ending on a very positive note.

Good morning! I opened a window on n the bedroom last night! What a treat! The outside air is so clear and wonderful. I look forward to opening all the windows soon! Last night I took the dogs on a walk around the backyard to check on progress of the bulbs.
Quilting was great fun yesterday. This member lives in what used to be considered the country and is being surround by new housing developments. Sometimes progress isn't so pretty!
J going to be able to work two late afternoon shifts. Three cheers! He was sure the agency wouldn't be interested in keeping him with such limited availability. I'm not surprised. The owners are smart and thinking about longer term possibilities. J is such a rare find.
After quilting I went to Costco' mainly to pick up a new phone (landline). Lots of other things jumped into my cart though! I gave the phone box to hb which turned out to be a big big mistake. He didn't want any help but couldn't set things up. Frustrating experience for both of us. I will go downstairs later and finish the last step. Last night I charged the other four phones. It's especially sad to see his inability to do what would have been so easy for him, even as his cognitive abilities in other areas were going. The electrical engineer in him remained long after other skills left. What was interesting was that he was trying to troubleshoot the old phone system instead of putting together the new system. He said it's our phone line, not the phones and was trying to use the new phone with the old base phone. Not finished yet, but I suspect that the only thing remaining to be done is plug it n the new base.
I'm staying home today and will be working on things for my sister's estate. For fun, I will be outside with the dogs and will starting some weeding and clearing of flower beds.
Yesterday I finished another inch on a short infinity scarf that is blue, to aqua ith varying shades.

HI, Today we will go to good Friday services. we like they are doing it at one pm. .some churches wait till 2-3 and some services can be so long.
our church is having where you can come and go between noon and 3. the veneration will be at 2. our priest will be long.so we will go to the church I like going to when Don doesn't usher
I have not done any crafting since last week.think I he read 3-4 books in the last month. I really enjoyed the book half finished by Lauraine Snelling.it is about 2 women that walk together.the one tells the other how tried she is of all her yarn stash and not projects done.
so they get the idea to start a guild of friends who don't have project done. the idea grows and more guilds are sprang up. the story goes on how these ladies become come closer together.
even men join.it can be any craft thing. one dgd is trying to lean to crochet, then knit, not having much luck. how ever she is a great cookie baker.this is a light read.phyl

Phyl, that sounds like my kind of book. I'll have to look into that
Yes it's a very sad day when we think of what Jesus went thru on this day so many years ago. He was beaten and tortured and finally after many hours died. Can you imagine his mother, siblings and friends seeing himall beaten and cut up by whips and hanging on that cross. He himself had to be in tremendous pain physically but also mentally when he, who had led a sinless life, now took on all possible horrible and vile sins so that he could die and pay the death penalty for all of us. The happy part was that just 3 days later he overcame death and rose from the dead just as we can if we truly in our hearts believe that he did this for us and we confess our sins and ask for that forgiveness. God says the wages of sin are death but now we don't have to pay those wages because Jesus did it for us.

Good Friday all.....
Ruth, thanks for the reminder of the events of this dayMy church has services this evening- not sure it I will attend or not. I know I should. Sometimes its tough to attend by myself, especially the extra services. (I know its a very bad excuse!).
Phyl- yes that sounds like a good book- also my kind of book too! Thanks for sharing the book and the author- I will have to check out my library and see if its available and add it to my long list of books. Always nice to have a good book that is not an affront to our senses.
Sue, that is awesome news that J will be able to stay on with you and Dh even for limited hours. I am sure that will mean a lot to Dh- even as his awareness diminishes with time. As a former engineer- he has an eye for detail and logic. It must hurt and frustrate you greatly to see him struggle with things that would have come so easily to him. How much more work do you have to do on your Dsโs estate? Hope you were able to get out - garden a wee bit and spend time with the dogs. Fresh air helps refresh and reenergize.... So glad you got to quilting!!!
Ruth, that is quite some story with the truck. I cannot imagine they delivered it runnng on fumes....but that is what they did. Must have been the full moon.....but I am glad that all the paperwork was found and that despite some speed bumps the story has a happy ending.

Well, I did not mean to end so abruptly- but Dh was on the phone with his brother, and my SIL wanted to chat with me. Without warning, Dh handed me the phone...with no introduction at all. So just had to leave here and chat with my DSIL. It was good to speak with her.
So lets see, I ended up going to the nursery and getting a replacement bush for one that died after we planted it last year. (I had already spoken to the owner about it and he said he would replace it this spring.) With all the rain we are due for in the next few days, I figured putting a new bush in would be a good thing to do. So its in and watered....lets hope that this one takes. Did some laundry this am too and watched a youtube on sewing together triangles in a quilt. (That is where I am on my block). I got a little bit of the block done last night, and am now putting the triangles together. I found a good youtube by Pat Sloane (thanks CJ!) and think she gave me some good tips. I really want this block DONE- before I know it I will be back in class and having to make 2 more blocks. Oh boy, hope I did not take on more than I could chew. Of course if I was not wrapped up in outside stuff, I would have more time to sew. Its the one thing I dislike about this time of year, I am challenged enough to maintain the inside of my house and now have to keep the outside looking decent too.
Ok, time to fold laundry....then we will see if I can sneak in some machine time. Have a good evening. Ginny

Well after listening to everyone talking about gardening I finally did a little but just a little because this nice weather won't last. I also moved the wood I had moved to just outside the back door away from the house again so that little critters and insects didn't decide to make a home in it and then sneak inside my house. Dh got up then and wanted to clean out and wash out the truck so we did that. Only crafting I've done so far was to take apart one of the baby blankets in my stash because it really needed ripping out...not just me this time..it really did need it. It took forever because I made it with Herrschnerr's teddy bear yarn which is fuzzy andd sticks together so is hard to rip. I still have a couple rows that aren't done but I'm not going to do anymore..it goes in the trash. It was a beautiful day today and I bet it did hit 80. Dh thought it was too hot and it was pretty hot in the sun.
Ginny, I'm glad you found some helpful tips on youtube. And yes I was wondering about signing up for a BOM when you have so much yard work to do but at least you don't have to babysit in the summer, right? But then too there's the wedding.
Sue I'm so glad to hear that J will be able to help you out a couple days a week at least. I'm sure your dh will be glad too that he doesn't have to get used to a new person. And yes, it's so sad and it must be very hard on your hubby too if he realizes he's lost some of his abilities. I know it's hard on you to see and deal with it.
CJ, I hope you're having a good day.
I don't know what the weather is supposed to be like for the next couple days but I want to make some taco soup. Dh probably won't eat it but we mostly don't eat the same things anyway.

Happy Saturday all!! Ruth, guess its good that you got outside for a little bit got some yardwork done. Its all stuff that needs doing and moving the wood away from the house is a good idea. It was some good activity for you and probably felt good to be outside a bit. Do not blame you for throwing out that teddy bear yarn - it was only a few rows in and well if the stuff is that awful to work with- you probably will never be happy with the project anyway. (I have thrown out stuff with homespun), 80 sure is hot....your area seems to have large swings in temperature.
Yes, I have wondered about the saniity of a BOM- but you do get pretty decent instructions and its only 7 sessions.....I will have to miss one class right around the wedding and pastors wife can pick up my materials for me Lovely rainy morning this am- birds are chirping and the soft rain is nice to hear. Have a great day all G
