Good morning all. It's to be even warmer today but it's breezy. Monday, chance of snow showers but basically all next week with the exception of Monday is to be nice and three days of over 70 there too.My sister gets here three weeks from today so I hope the weather is decent.Tomorrow is not going to be very warm either.
Forgot to mentioned that the other day when trying to start the car dh flipped the lever that opens the hood and it broke off. Sure glad it wasn't me. It was only made of plastic...the connecting part too and since the vehicle is old the plastic must have become brittle. He was able though to jerryrig it so that it can be opened.
Well Ginny, if you enjoy doing the BOM I'm glad you signed up. It will be something fun to do with your friend and get you out of the house for awhile and also produce something creative and beautiful. And you're already putting your own personal touches into it with getting a different fabric because you didn't care for their choice of colors or how the colors went together.
I do love the teddy bear yarn because it works up so soft and it's easy to work with unlike homespun but like homespun it's hard when you have to rip any out. Some I had to cut to get it apart so I have a lot of small balls of it now. I'm thinking that I can use two strands together to make little animals. I'll probably use it to make a lovey. The two large balls should do the trick for the blanket part and the small ones for whatever little stuffed animal I do...but that's for later.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sounds like everyone has been very busy, but I'm glad you've still been getting in some crafting too. It was a nice day here today, sunny and in the 70s with a breeze. I have some of the windows open, since the house was getting a bit hot. I cleaned out my sewing machine yesterday, I can't believe how much lint was in it! I need to remember to do that more often. And I put in a new needle. I also basted the small triangle quilt and I'm going to hand quilt around each triangle about 1/4 inch inside the seem - so it will echo the triangle. I also cut the strips for my Warm Wishes quilt and hope to get the strip sets sewn soon. Take care everyone!

CJ, I think that may be what happened to some of the sewing machines I've had in the past because I never knew how to clean them.Guess I could have looked it up in the book at came with them. My dh always tells me I'm more like a man in that respect. Everyone says men don't read directions and that is sure me. I'm glad to hear that you have your quilting mode back because your quilts sound beautiful. The hand quilting inside the triangles is going to be great. I can picture that in my mind.
It was pretty warm here today but I don't know that it got up to what they forecast. It was a nice day for Easter egg hunts for the children of our city.
I did work on my hippo today and got the muzzle, snout or nose whatever you want to call it on but not without a lot of work. I thought I had it centered and sewed it on and tied nice knots only to find that it wasn't centered at all so had to get the knots untied and it taken back off. Guess I shouldn't have listened to the pattern designer and put those eyes on first. Since it's for an adult I used the safety eyes. So after I finally got the nostrils sewed on and the muzzle on I crocheted the ears and was going to start the arms but dh got up so then I was able to work in the kitchen andcleaned it up and threw in a load of laundry, sorted thru my linen closet which I've been going to do all week and of course visited with dh before I started the SAturday housework and also on breaks. Now I want to make him a carrot cake. We're not going to have any kind of special dinner so at least he'll have a nice dessert that he likes. So after I get the arms done and the arms and the ears sewn on it will be done. I hope that's today but I might finish it tomorrow. Then I'm not sure what I'm going to start next because none of my other projects need to be done until at least end of August. I might make the water balloons next since I want to send them in the early summer

Good evening! Ruth, sounds like you had a busy day....glad you got to work on the hippo, even if it gave you a struggle. I am glad you perservered and got it right- getting the nostrils sewn on and the ears crochetted. It must be an awfully adorable pattern. Gee you got some laundry in too- along with sorting through the linen closet? Congrats to you- you had a very productive day indeed. Do you have much work to get ready for when your Ds visits you in a few weeks? And that is funny about the car and the hood latch breaking off- funny only because we had the same thing happen in January with our 1986 car. (It was too cold for Dh to modify it then....but he has it working somehow now.) For us it was a big deal cause it was in the middle of winter and the battery died. Anyway, glad your Dh was able to get it to work somehow. He has earned that carrott cake for sure!
CJ- bet the breeze in your house felt so good! 70 is pleasant... Hey do you have the vacuum attachments to clean out your machine? Joanns sells tiny vacuum attachments that fit a normal vacuum hose to help get the lint from the machine. Yes, quilting makes for a LOT of lint. Bet the machine works better now with being cleaned and a new needle! Congrats on getting the warm wishes quilt cut. Bet you cannot wait to start piecing that!
Sewed my first block today. Its got a lot of “issues”- this is the first quilt I have sewn with triangular pieces, so its a challenge for me. I started cutting the second block and hope to get it done before the end of the week. My next BOM meeting is in a little under two weeks. Right now I am a bit nervous- this is a bit nerve wracking working with the fabric and things are going ok- but surely not perfect. Keep your fingers crossed that I can get the hang of this.
See ya’all tomorrow Ginny

And I thought my Ford Ranger (that I gave to the neighbor's friend in Sept) was old. It was a 94 but you got me beat. I'm glad you got to do the sewing and finished the first block. I don't think that triangles would be easy. So ok, I have the fingers crossed. WEll I'm sure as it gets closer to the time she will arrive I'll be getting nervous about the cleaning. I keep telling myself that she's coming to visit us not to inspect all the little nooks and cranies in the house. Of course I'll do all the obvious things but maybe won't clean the insides of the cupboards except those that will be used...not the ones that I never look in except once a year when I look in those to think about how I should get rid of all that stuff I never use and move it around to wash the shelves. I do need to clean the oven and will do that on whatever day next week that is warm enough to open doors etc to air out the fumes. Here's the hippo link, It's not as large as it looks in the picture and I even used a larger hook than they advised www.graceandyarn.com/2018/12/amigurumi-hippopotamus-free-crochet.html?showComment=1555172743638#c7219275194701333443

Hi crafty people.
Haven't done much of anything crafty lately. Been working on some crocheted baby hats but seem to only get anything done on those when DH is at rehab.
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday. We're going to DD for a late dinner. I'm making the dessert. Do you remember the WW recipe where you mix an angel food cake mix and a can of crushed pineapple and bake it in a 9X13 pan. Thought that would be something DH could eat. His blood sugars have been good but his weight had been going up. He's doing too much snacking and mostly salty things. Not good for CHF.
Think I'm doing a lot of babbling. Have a great Easter.

Betty, it's good to see you and always good to see the picture of your little dog...Ozzie, isn't it? Sometimes we can only crochet in times like that. . Little minues here and there when waiting at doctor offices or something. I'm very blessed with having a lot of time and I don't make good use of it sometimes. Have a blessed Easter.
Yes weather did change a lot from the last two days. It's colder and it's raining. It doesn't rain much here so it's a good thing but I still would rather have sunshine. And April showers will not bring May flowers here. Most of the time the months of May are cold. And it's funny isn't it that during the long cold winter a day where the temp is 47, which is what it is now, seems warm but after two days of high 70's it seems cold. Well there's a purpose for all weather.

Happy Easter!!!!
Oh my gosh, Ruth, the hippo is adorable!!!! What color are you making yours? And in my silliness, I goofed on the age of the Honda. Its a 96- with only 77,000 miles on it. So your ford has me beat for sure. No your sister is not coming to see your house, but to spend time with YOU. But I do understand- and know that I will be cleaning like a wild woman as the wedding draws close when all kinds of people will be in and out of our home.
Betty, great to see you here! Yes, I remember that recipe very well and its a real winner. I have also substituted blueberry pie filling for the pineappe with the same great results. Super easy to make, super yummy.
Finished cutting block #2 this am. Hope that maybe.....ha ha ha....I will be able to start sewing it later today. Doubt that’s gonna happen though.
Serving Easter dinner in 90 minutes...gotta go. Have a blessed Easter to all who celebrate. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all enjoying your Easter (holiday) today and having nice weather Ruth - Thanks for sharing that link to the website. The hippo is so cute and the other animal patterns she has are adorable. I want the horse and the donkey Ginny - Hope you can get that block to work out, good luck. Betty - Hope you enjoy the meal with family today. I've made that angel food cake-crushed pineapple cake a few times, it's pretty good. Phyl, Sue and Meg - Hope you are all doing well. Some crafty thing hit me last night and I finished sewing the binding on the table runner, started working on a Sashiko pillow top stitchery, finished cutting out all the blocks for the Warm Wishes quilt and then today I pieced all the blocks into rows and started sewing the rows together - but then I kind of burned out so I stepped away and will see if I can go back and work on them later. There are about 10 or 11 rows to this quilt. But with 9 blocks in each row I have to pin the rows together carefully to match the seams. I kind of think the cutting directions for this quilt are not quite right. The strip set seem to need to be about a 1/2 inch larger. I've had to pull on the fabric to get the edges to match. The colors on this quilt are all very muted, so it's going to be a "quiet" quilt, but the pastel colors are pretty together. I just hope I'll be able to see the pattern of the quilt once it's all together. I'll be glad to finish this quilt, I've had it on my mind for a long time. I want to work on those pillows made from my father's old shirts next and get them done - another project that's been on my mind for awhile. Then I have 3-4 crochet projects in progress that I'd also love to finish. I'd just love to get all these unfinished things done so I could start on some others. Just have to take it one project at a time Take care everyone!

Ginny, on your old car you had less mileage than I had on the 2000 Ford I just gave to my dd. It has 88,000 and I thought that was good. Still ds owned it first and did a lot of driving over in Germany. I also have driven it constantly since I got it from hin in 2004 driving it back and forth to Arkansas for 5 years and to visit them in Ky and Indiana. I'm glad you got time to do some crafting work before your day started. Have a great dinner. Is your whole family going to be there?
CJ, that's what we both have to do is take one thing at a time and work down our lists. It's also ok to change the order on our lists. It sounds like you really got a LOT done last night. After all that I'm sure you do need a little break.
Every Easter I think about my dh's stepmother. Her first husband was Polish and she learned to make and buy all the ethnic foods of Poland so on Easter she had amazing meals with authentic Polish sausage, Pierogi, Polish pastries...yumm.And she always gave up good chocolate that she bought from a local chocolate shop. Besides that she was just a wonderul woman. I miss her. She was the best person in his family

Hi everyone, Janet is now back at her care home and is walking very well. So now I wont have to go and see her so much. They were very good to her at rehab. I hope she will be able to go back to her day program soon. She spent 3 months sitting in a wheel chair. Many of the patients where she was were elderly and permanent patients. I would chat to them and I will miss some of them.
I have some some crafting but have slowed down and I am still working on the afghan for Janet but it is almost finished. I haven't worked on a baby blanket for ages and I am thinking about stopping and I would like to make some afghans for the people at Janet's care home.
Today I am having a quiet day. I will probably watch TV this evening and perhaps work on Janet's afghan. Devin has gone off for the day with his mother to a Easter egg hunt with friends.
I hope you all have had a wonderful Easter if you celebrate the day. It will probably take me awhile to catch up with all that you are doing.

evening,
hope you all had a nice Easter.ours was quiet. church and red lobster for lunch. late in the afternoon jeana and carey and dog walked up with a bouquet of flower for me.long walk they live 7 houses from us.
betty nice to see you here. I know you also were not feeling the greatest.
one thing about cleaning machine is to clean the racer not just the bobbin area. the racer is where your bobbin holder sits in.your book should have that information in it. depending on how old your machine is.
this is important do not blow in your machine or use can air.steve (shop owner) has talked at our guild a couple of times.
steve says blowing in them causes humidity and can rust parts. I will have to look up my list he gave us..
the newer machines we don't have to oil them.remember when we did? the first time years back he came to our guild, steve said do not use cooking oil in your machine ,.we burst out laughing.
he said yep I have had to clean machines where someone has used cooking oil.
I was in my playpen for awhile. think I will forget about this ribbon block and do it another time.
how are you cutting the triangles? that might be part of the problem. I have problems with them also..
my dsil theresa and friend mary jo use thangles.they are paper thin sheets with triangles printed on them. they say they come out right then. I have them but have not tried them yet.
go to youtube type in quilting with thangles. watch the video with the man he does a good
directions and the man say to cut your piEces a half inch bigger.you will see why. ''theresa and mary jo say they don't and they come out.ok. you can buy these at joann's and just about any quilt store. phyl

Meg!!!! It's so great to see you. I'm glad that Janet is doing well and walking well and was able to go back to her care home. Yes I think that making afgans for the ohters in the care home is a great idea. Lots of people make baby blankets but few make things for adults. I hope you can get rested up now that you don't have to attend to Janet quite as much
Phyl, for sure I never cleaned the racer. I didn't even know what that was and most of my problems were from the bobbin.Thank you for the info and I'll definitely be looking at my book to see how to do all those things now that you and CJ have mentioned it. The machine I have now hasn't been used much but I have had it for about 5 years so I'll check it and see what needs to be done.
My hubby likes the hippo. I still have to sew the head and body together and add the arms. I did get the ears on. I always put off doing things I'm not sure will turn out well but the ears turned out great...not perfect I'm sure but still great. OK I'm going to force myself to do the body and head joining. See you later although I'm going to watch the program Forged in Fire with dh and there are several recorded so I may not get back but if I don't I'll see you all tomorrow
