People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.

Good Morning!
Today is my annual Yoga on the Beach in Tarpon Springs. It should be a beautiful day for it and not too hot!
It is also Tax Day, so if you haven't filed...don't forget... or at least file an extension. I filed and paid mine last month.

Sharon, Are you leaving for up north a little later than usual? For some reason I thought you left in late May. I moved to Florida 10 years ago this Father's Day. It will definitely be hot by then.

Good Monday morning. It is much cooler today and should be a lovely day to be outside. It’s sunny and 66 now and should warm to 80s.
Ruth enjoy your yoga day. What fun! Yes we are probably leaving later. No DGK is graduating this spring. Next year the twins graduate high school and possibly there will be a college grad or two. So next year we’ll go back earlier.
I wouldn’t have wanted to be in Illinois yesterday as they had quite a snowfall. It should melt quickly though.
I will be walking 30 minutes or more today.

We did get a lot of snow yesterday but the roads are already clear and with the sun out I'm thinking the snow on the ground will be gone well before lunch!
Last night was interesting. Maybean always sleeps in the back bedroom with the door closed when we have him as he gets into too much stuff if the door is open. We had put a new blanket we bought on our trip on the bed for him as it's like the blanket he has at home and he loved it! Well he started meowing and I felt so bad for him that I went in and laid in the bed and he walked all up and down my body then gave me a nip on my cheek and settled down right next to me and we both went to sleep and I didn't wake up until 6 this morning! Haven't slept that late in forever!
Bridgette chased him when we first brought them all home and she never does that but then Bailey has been very cautious around him and Maybean has pretty much stayed away from them so it'll be interesting how the next 10 days go. With that blanket on the bed Maybean seems to want to just stay there. The top of the blanket is smooth but the underside is like lambs wool and he sucks on that part and kneads it like kittens do to their mother when nursing. He does that with his blanket at home as well and we think it's because he never got weaned before he was either lost or taken away by her as he was found in a tree.

Good morning all.
The rain has ended but still no sun in sight...and it's much cooler than it has been. We're in the mid 30s now and won't get above the mid 40s today.
I'm picking up my DD later this morning and we're going on a little adventure. Neither of us are exactly sure where the hospital is located where I'm having my ablation done so we're going to go find it today. I want to know how long it will take to get there and also if there's any road construction we'll need to detour around. Since I need to be there that morning at 5:30, I thought it would be better to know where we're going instead of stumbling around in the dark. We'll grab some lunch out before we come home.

Ruth thanks for the start. I too am going to SS Yoga this morning. I have bread rising right now and will bake it after yoga. I hope to walk the dog while bread is baking in the oven later this afternoon.
Sharon Fun to be able to plan a long visit with friends and family and escape the extreme heat and humidity.
Sandy cats are unique and have a lot of funny little habits. You are probably right about yours being removed from mom too early. Mine won't come into the house right now because Hubert is there. I guess Hubert is too small and fast to suit her.
Vicki good luck tomorrow. We wemt down into the 30s last ngiht. Yesterday started at 70 or 71 and then dropped a few degrees every house starting in the late afternoon. Today should not get out of the 60s, but that is spring as far as I am concerned.
Got my Roomba yesterday. I have ran it four times already. It is really cleaning up under furniture and beds that I have difficulty reaching. I think I am going to love it.

Good morning, friends. It is good to be home and so great to see Sunny again. He stuck pretty close to me last night.
Enjoy that yoga on the beach, Ruth. Sounds lovely.
It will be in the mid 60s here today. Not as clement as down your way, Floridians, but pretty good for us.
I sleep well when Sunny joins me in bed too, Sandy.
Good idea to find the location before the big day, Vicki. Enjoy your time with your DD.
A Roomba does sound like a good idea as we grow older, Geri.
Nothing much planned today. I have to finish unpacking. But a walk would be terrific.
Few people know how to take a walk. The qualifications are endurance, plain clothes, old shoes, an eye for nature, good humor, vast curiosity, good speech, good silence and nothing too much.

Geri Maybean won't even try to venture out of the house. When he's at home he has a huge cat tree with a bowl at the top he sits in and it's right near a window so he has a good view of all the goings on!

Greetings: Gail, well, maybe getting your crutches back means a visit from DD.
I really do believe in meditation. Years ago I read in some yoga text that one of the purposes of the yoga poses was to relax the body so it could sit for meditation. In my "ideal" day, that's how it works. I come home from exercise and immediately sit for meditation.
A few years ago I found a book, The Joy Diet: 10 Daily Practices for a Happier Life by Martha Beck. I bought it and gave a few copies away. I started it but never got beyond Chapter 1. So, this year I'm taking time to read it. I'm through Chapter 3. Each chapter is one of the daily practices with guidance on how to practice it. I'm working it. My first plan was to do a chapter a week and incorporate what worked for me. But, it's more like a few weeks. I'm going slow. I realized yesterday that I'd gone for several days missing what I was to do. So, I got back to it yesterday. Martha apparently has/had a regular column in "O" magazine. I don't read that magazine so I don't know if she still does.
KC, ah, well, weather does make a difference. At the end of the day I looked to see who won the Masters, and I was flabbergasted to learn that Tiger Woods did! What an amazing come back.
Pets sure keep all entertained.
Sharon, you can do it -- whatever it is you want to do -- if you don't want to snack at night. You can not snack at night. You are that powerful! I'm still trying to remember how I handled this as a new member. I remember the advice of considering foods that I don't want to eat as those I have an allergy to. Since I now do have an allergy to milk, it's easier for me to think, I'm allergic to that ... whatever.
Yoga on the beach. Sigh. My experience is yoga in the park more in summer. Today at exercise we did a few exercises that stemmed from yoga moves. I felt a little rusty doing them.
Vicki, what a wise idea ... to go and find that hospital! I think a lot of people do that very thing when time is critical.
Since I think the midwest is getting our weather, today is warmer with a light layer of clouds. I stayed up to check all the coming temps and all in the 70s except one day in the high 60s.
DGS-8 ill today. I went over to stay with him while DDIL took DGS-5 to school. I think we decided that he hadn't had enough food or water yesterday.
They got a Peoloton (sp) contraption and everyone is exercising more. They also took the TV out of their living room which I think is also good for them. We could never manage with that, but they will do fine.

Have you seen the news? The Notre Dame cathedral in Paris is burning!
Gail I love that quote too. Although it reminds me of sauntering and meandering, different than power walking.
Don and I did get the 30 minute walk in just before it warmed up too much. Then I made a pot of ham, bean veg soup, listed some junk on eBay and did two loads of laundry. I’m going to trivia tonight too. I feel accomplished.
Karen thanks for the pep talk. I did give in and eat a snack last night. I had two Finn Crisp crackers with red pepper hummus. Really you all should look for those crackers. They are made in Finland and are super thin with only a few ingredients. I feel better about those.

Hi everyone!
Such a busy week, as usual. I did have off on Friday since my DGD had a musical performance at school and DD/DSinLaw were off, to attend. It was so sweet! The 3 Toddler rooms consist of 18mo-3 yr olds. My DGD sings every word of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' among a few others. So cute! She loves paint with water and loves using the glue stick! Ha! The teachers say she loves anything to do with art and she is quite attentive!
Anyway, since I was off, I took up the offer from MGM of a free room and headed out for a mini vacation. Good news (drum roll) is that I hit on a slot machine for $1,680. Came home with all of my money plus that windfall! That made for a fun stay!
While there, I got a text asking if I would babysit Saturday night for my two little girls and their 3 cousins visiting from England. They were in the 1st, 4th and 5th grades and just lovely. I came home from the Casino and took a nap since I had been up very late Friday night.
Yesterday I found a Michael Kohrs Cross Body Purse which I had admired at Macy's for $168, now on clearance at Marshalls for $64! Early birthday gift for me.
On Easter sunday, DD, DSinLaw and I will go to a brunch at a local restaurant and then relax.
It's been great to wear my Apple watch in the pool and get to see the stats for that exercise. It's amazing that I logged 17 flights of stairs and burned 500 calories in the hour. I do a lot of jogging, chair sits, squats, etc. so somehow it's adding up!
I'm interested in the AARP challenge, too. Like Jane, my walking may be in the pool on some days, depending on my schedule.
I'm watching the Voice as I pay bills, etc. What talent!
Gail, you seem to be getting around better. How exciting that you have that knee issue behind you!
Vicki, good luck with your procedure. Jane, stay busy it is what keeps me going, too! Ruth, there is Yoga on the Beach and Paddle Board Yoga on my beach every summer. Karen C, how fun that the boys are getting into cooking! Sharon, you must make so many friends camping. I enjoyed camping with my DC years ago. Sandy, glad that you enjoyed the trip, of course, there's no place like home! Hi to Joanne, KC, Karen E, Ann and whomever I've missed!
Just like that it's 10 pm. The evening flew by! Happy Tuesday to all tomorrow!
