Looks like the Keystone pipeline protesters are finally being forced to leave after they set fire to their camp. About time! Now we can start making some progress toward energy independence.

Friday vent There is a bill at our statehouse to not have any sanctuary cities in Idaho. Sounds safe and great to me.
But we have some fools that don't want to pass it because of dairy farming. OK I will go that it is not the best job in the world but it is a job. Maybe people would do those jobs if everything's wasn't handed to them. Complain that there is no type of work visa for year around workers, just seasonal. That is a lot of dunk also. How do state departments and big companies bring in people that are from different countries. Worked for the state and we had a lot of employees that worked year round.
To be honest I don't really give a crap about that. I want to live in a state where I am safe. Do they think that the working illegals will be the only ones to come? No the killers will come because they know that the law means nothing. The people up there have their heads up their asses. We already have gang problems two towns over so let's invite them in.
The law is the law! If they want to keep the illegals they have get their work visa and call it a day.

Eleanor, I have been saying for years that they need a workers program so that ranchers & farmers and who ever needs temporary seasonal labor can go and legally bring people from other countries to harvest their crops. Then when the harvest season is over the temp workers have to go back to their own countries. Other countries have programs like that.

I have been hiding posts on Facebook from liberal friends. There are a few that I may have to totally delete since they are so extreme in their views. I try not to reply to postings since I don't want to stir things up but once in a while I can't help myself!

My brother-in-law is one of the most extreme liberals I know. He put me into one of his Facebook groups without asking my permission and I was appalled at all the extreme hatred I saw against President Trump and conservatives in general. I immediately left the group he put me in. I rarely respond to his posts on FB they are so extreme, but he is family and we get along ok as long as politics doesn't come up.

Gary, it must be difficult having to deal with someone like that. I have never lived close enough to my family if I did there would probably be someone to push my buttons though my DBs and I were usually pretty much on the same page.

Hi Eleanor, so how is retirement going? How did it feel not having to go to work this morning? We will listen to you any day you want to join us. Hi. Thanks for asking. I am just trying to get into the swing of no alarm. Funny thing is I didn't find I am sleeping in as long as I thought I would. Am still working on appointments, so have had to venture out. I have one on Monday then will end the ones related to retirement. Like Ranger's day class. I do have one more Dr appointment near the end of March. But other than that it is the getting into new routine type stuff. Eleanor

Then when the harvest season is over the temp workers have to go back to their own countries. Other countries have programs like that. Hi Meg, From what they are saying there is something for seasonal workers but not for year round. That is why I think that is cr$$, we have people from foreign counties that work year around. In fact one of them had to go back to China (?) to redo his visa. Something about that he has to go back every so often. He was there when the ban went into effect so he had to wait maybe a week to get his paperwork, to come back. Surprise he was in that and he didn't totally panic, he was in touch with his boss to let us know what was going on. He was more concerned about his job as he has only been with us a few months. When he came back he was glad to be home, but I never heard him or of him saying anything negative about the ban. He is one of those I love seeing here, he works, and wants to be a part of this county. He joins the other guys after work, doing what ever they do. Doesn't expect special treatment from his job because he is not a citizen. Eleanor

My gf says I should never retire because I would get so complacent I would never get anything done. Case in point: I took this week off to clean up my office, get my taxes ready, etc. Well, I got distracted by also looking for carpet for my screened in porch and I have an appointment Monday for them to come out and repair some carpet and put some baseboards down, things that needed to be done but distracted from my office clean up. I have made progress though. I shredded old papers and filled 4 kitchen garbage bags and I still have more to go. I finally found the bottom of 4 boxes that I had stacked up in the office, so progress is being made.
After the death of Alan Combs I came to the conclusion that there is a difference between the extreme liberals and the so-called "lovable" liberals. Alan Combs was as liberal as they come but he wasn't so much "in your face" and had a sense of humor. Geraldo Rivera and Bob Beckel are also among the "liberal light". The ones that insist that Trump is the next Hitler and the like are the ones who truly disgust me.

I agree Gary except for the Bob Beckel part. I just don't like him and think he is a bit nasty and crazy.
On another subject, and maybe one of you has the answer. Why the foot draging on getting the SC justice confirmed. It just feels like to me they need to get that done asap.

Happy Saturday everyone,
Eleanor, American citizens who live abroad have to return to the US every few years to retain their US citizenship. Also foreign nationals who live here for an extended period of time would have to have a green card and report in once a year. I think that was the requirement when I first came to live in the US. I got my US citizenship faster than most because my DH was in the military and we were scheduled to go to Germany. That was in 1961 and things were not going well with the Soviets at that time. The problem has been over the years the laws were not kept and people did what they wanted. We need to enforce the laws we already have. People come here as visitors and overstay their allotted time in this country. Some never leave.
Gary, Alan Combs was apparently a much loved person however when he was on with Hannity he did have some off the wall liberal ideas. May he R.I. P. Bob Beckel I don't care for much. Geraldo, I think he swings depending what the issue is, I think he was supportive of Trump and may have voted for him but he is a liberal.
Susie, I wish they would get on with confirming the SC justice and all the other confirmations that need to be made.

A busy week, not much down time. Gary....someone once said to me: The more time you have, the more time you waste! That is SO TRUE! How many times have I said to myself...well, I have today off, so I'll just take more time having my coffee and watching the morning news and check my email....and suddenly it is 10 a.m.!! Eleanor, I remember reading somewhere (readers digest, ladies home journal..redbook maybe...) that someone asked a recently retired phys ed teacher how she liked retirement and not getting up to the alarm clock. She responded: I set my alarm every evening for 5 a.m., when it goes off, I stick my tongue out and shut it off and go right back to sleep. I tucked that into my brain for future use. And what about Perez now leading the DNC with Ellison as his second in command? Wow wee, the republicans/conservatives could not have asked for a greater gift. Perez, from what I have been able to glean from open source, has dedicated his life to Civil Rights, lawsuits and all that. Ellison is a jew hater, although he has been trying to deny all that. Sorry, the internet is forever Mr. Ellison. I really don't think the "lifetime democrats", i.e. unions, will appreciate this. I know many union people that are still angry at things .... they know what I speak of. So.....oh yeah, keep it coming Dems and Libs.... To all those so upset that some were shut out of the "gaggle" for media at CPAC....do your research....Obama had many, many, MANY closed door sessions with liberal news media and their columnists. Especially the NYT....so funny that they should be crying about this....look it up, they were invited to the Obama office many times when many others were shut out. Thank you PRESIDENT TRUMP for calling out the liberal news media for what they are!!!! I am SO HAPPY he won in spite of all of the negative crap that was broadcasted night after night on CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and more. Sorry liberal media, your Hillary did not win in spite of the fact you put her in such a positive light, even though in your heart you knew you were just blowing smoke.

I agree the more extreme the liberals get the more out of touch with average Americans they will become and the more elections they will lose. Keep your collective heads in the sand Democrats and put up your most extreme leaders!

Eleanor, congrats on your retirement. I retired last May, I can't believe it has been that long ago. It seems like last week. Honestly, I keep pretty busy. When I get tired of doing one thing, I do another. I have knitting and reading for my resting activities. My house is cleaner, and I am cooking and preparing healthier foods. I don't think I realized how tired I was getting at work. I retired at age 66. It was nice to double dip for a few months. I planned to work until Dec, but just decided I couldn't do it anymore.
Yeah, I hope the dems keep on doing what they are doing. While I don't think they will be easy to beat, at least they are helping us all they can.
