WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C97D6, 23 points, no rollovers, 8 water, 1424 calories
Just treadmill today
A bunch of unplanned, unnecessary snacking today 7 points for a toal of 218 calories. And BTW I don't think I mentioned that last night at Canasta I took one of those tiny iced cupcakes (isolated). Company for dinner Sunday night then I better get back on the stick. They're sending us someone new next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If she's great by some miracle, we'll keep her. If not, our regular weekday gal will come back the following Monday. This aide business is great when it works but a real PITA when it doesn't.

24 points 1586 calories 11 APs
DH decided it was time to tackle the mold in our attic, despite my request to wait until fall. According to a family friend who works in this area of expertise, it’s not an emergency. Anyway, I came home from grocery shopping to find the contents of our attic in our living room and Alex’s bedroom. O. M. G. 24 years of life in dirty storage boxes spread everywhere. I spent the next four hours going though boxes and cleaning out. My parents had saved all of my childhood books and record albums. Fun memories, yes. Not something I want to save any longer though. Hamster and guinea pig cages, a small fish tank, old lamps.......Anything to be donated or thrown away is now on our large trailer and Dave will dispose of it all today. I made it through 95% of the boxes. Just didn’t have it in me to go through the couple of remaining boxes with Christmas decorations. The good news is I found a few seasonal things that I enjoy and will use now that I know where they are.
Nancy, medical marijuana is big business. I hope you are able to navigate through it all and take advantage of the benefits. Yes, combining calories and points on this new plan seems to be a game changer. I don’t think I’d lose weight if I was just counting points.
Lori, have a wonderful trip!
Kathy, I hope you had a good, on plan week.

Down 1 lb. I'll take it! Interesting conversation at our meeting about those temptations that lead to off plan eating. What I'm going to try for a while (my idea) is only giving in every other time as a way to break the habit. So, for example, if a spot a little bag of pirate's booty, I'll say to myself "last night I gave in to the rye bread and cream cheese, so I'll skip the Pirate's Booty and wait for the next temptation to which I might acquiesce. Another experiment <g>. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Jan - What a job!! But I bet it feels good now that it's accomplished. Sounds like how we'd been dealing with the garage these many months. It is, finally, pretty much a fait accomplis - except for the closed off front part. A lot of that will go out on June 10th when we have the semi annual bulk pickup.

I thought of another idea. Today, if you spent $10, they gave you a WW "My Journal" for free. I'm going to use it to annotate every instance of off plan eating be it a temptation or otherwise, how I gave in or didn't, and why or why not. I'm thinking that over time maybe I can use these annotations to improve my modus operandi. If you like, I'll share these.
Here's an example using my first notation: 5/4: my plan came later and includes both incidents (1) I had purchased WW smores for the first time and wanted to try one and (2) I was watching TV and wanted to fill the time but also I had only one serving of Enlightened left and barely had room for the container in our freezer.

Nancy, a pound is wonderful! I love your new experiment. If nothing else, it will make you more aware of your temptations and what triggers them.
I got a run in before step class, and the timing was perfect. The rain started shortly after I got back, and really hasn’t let up. I made a quick trip to Costco after class, then did food prep. I made soup with lentils and beans for myself that comes to 0 points. The beauty of tracking calories and points is that I don’t turn it into a free for all. I divided it up into six soup mugs and put it in the refrigerator.

Jan - How do you usually have the soup? When I make cabbage soup into portions like that, I usually have it with a mini Portuguese roll with b&b and a fruit. That can be lunch for me or maybe mini meal 4 on the one day of each week when I don't have a salad for that meal. I'm asking cuz I'm always looking for ideas. I dreamt about Beth last night. Something about playing words with friends with her mother, but I can't remember the details. I still have one of those step thingies and used to use them with exercise tapes by Jane Fonda or Cher. I really should try again one of these days. I enjoyed both of them.
