WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

I got an email from the guidance counselor that Jackson has slipped below passing in both science and math for the fourth quarter. He needs a passing fourth quarter grade in both classes to pass for the year, as he has struggled all year. This particular science class is a tough one, and the math teacher is terrible. Even our vice principal has said it. I’m so aggravated, even more so when she mentioned that she talked to him about his grades two weeks ago. He is fully capable of doing well; this is just laziness. I thought he was turning things around. He will be able to get the grades up, but I’m not happy that he’s in this situation with 11 days of school left.
On a bright note, the attic is finished and my living room is back in order. Our little town has a new coffee shop. They’ve invested a small fortune into renovating an old, rundown building. They have bubble tea; have you heard of it? Honestly, it sounds disgusting, but everyone is excited about it.
Lori, oh no! RICE was the right thing to do, and will probably significantly reduce your recovery time. How fun about the BMW.
Nancy, Gracie has a busy summer ahead of her. Good for her! I’m happy you had her for a brief visit.

Had a wonderful day yesterday with the whole family together! Having the 4 of us together plus my Mom, hearing the laughter...just priceless! I bought a compression wrap for my ankle and was able to explore Dallas with everyone. The ankle is getting a little better each day. Today we’re headed to explore the Fort Worth area. Making good choices, staying away from sweets but not getting the steps....just enjoying family time!
Nancy, we leave Texas Thursday to head home. Time is going too fast..
Jan, sorry to hear about the school struggles....I’m sure you’ll be happy once this school year is over... Wonderful to have the attic project complete. Never heard of bubble tea, sounds interesting. Wishing the new business lots of luck.

Jan - You don't get a break. What does Jackson have to do in the next 11 days so he can graduate? Sounds like a tall order.
Lori - So tomorrow is your last full day. Enjoy it to the fullest. Glad to hear the ankle is on the mend.
