WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

I’ve had a sore throat all week. I think it’s allergies, which is what I was hoping for on Monday. So far it hasn’t turned into anything else, and Tylenol helps quite a bit. I’m hoarse this morning, so my four classes today will be interesting.
Lori, you’ve done everything right with your ankle. I’m glad it’s on the mend. Have a wonderful last day!
Nancy, he finished a science project yesterday that was probably overdue, and he has a big test today in science. I think he can retake a couple of tests and was asking for help in math. There is very little instruction in math; they sit in groups and it’s mainly self-taught. This is the new trend in math, and I don’t know anyone who agrees with it.
Amy, welcome! I think maybe you’ve posted here before. Good for you for starting now, as opposed to Friday. I’ve been enjoying lentil bean soup all week. Filling and very healthy.

Welcome Amy, take one day at a time! Food prepared and going to a meeting...Your off to a great start! Look forward to reading your post.
Jan, hope you make it thru your 4 classes and still have your voice.... Yesterday, spent the day with everyone walking around the Fort Worth zoo - did about 7,000 steps. Ankle felt fine but very swollen by the end of the day. Today will be low key, just hanging out so I’ll be able to rest it.
Food wise, yesterday was delicious but not the best choices, meal one - half a big lemon/blueberry pancake, egg whites, turkey sausage one slice multi toast, meal two (celebration dinner) filet mignon wrapped in bacon, salad and skillet potatoes (worst choice but delicious and only ate half) then 6 of us shared 2 slices of warm pecan pie.....I can’t remember the last time I felt that full, borderline uncomfortable. Today will be a lot of leftovers and trying to keep things in control... Tomorrow is travel day home....

Hi Amy - Congrats on getting back in the game. For me tracking and regularly attending meetings are key, so I think you're on the right track. The third component for me is reading and posting daily on this message thread. I've been doing so for something like 10 years. The non-judgmental support here has been life changing for me. So welcome aboard!! This is a new day, fresh with no mistakes in it!!
Jan - I'll understand if you go out and get hammered after this graduation. What a roller coaster ride it's been. Fingers crossed for both of your boys. Your best decision during this stressful time has been to start counting points and calories. Otherwise heaven only knows what this emotional ride may have led to.
Lori - I have to disagree. I think you made the best possible choices. You are, after all, on vacation and deserve to give yourself a little leeway. Hoping the day of rest does wonders for your ankle. And wishing you a safe trip home.
