Planning is one of the best tools to make any program work for you. It allows you to make food choices when your mind is sane instead of when you're hungry and are more likely to make poor choices. It makes things easier because you know what's for dinner and can mentally prepare yourself and know how much time it will take to prepare. Because you have a plan you'll likely have bought the food you'll need so don't need to go hunting or even worse food shopping. We all know what happens when you're hungry and are faced with food choices.
QOTD: What dinners will you make this week? Take into account your schedule and days you might need something quick. Figure out when you'll shop for what you need and make a shopping list Bonus: Find a new recipe to try.

I don't really do any detailed planning. I have some things in mind for different meals and have a grocery list on my phone notes for when I do go grocery shopping.
Tonight I'm going to make chili. A good meal for a cold day, although it isn't as cold today as it was yesterday.

I don't plan in the same way or as detailed way as Cindy posted. I do cook ahead and freeze portions every couple of weeks. Plus, keep on hand on-program items. So, that keeps me on track, because the options are right here for making good choices.
I will be doing some planning this week - I have the week between Christmas and New Year off (mostly...have to work a few hours one day) so will be stocking the freezer.

I just. I got back from a weekend trip and have not been able to plan meals for this week. I have two away from home dinners already on Monday and Tuesday. I will do the best I can under the circumstances .

I have a general idea. I eat pretty much the same for breakfast and lunch with a few changes sometimes. I have the foods on hand I need and decide in the morning what protein to thaw for dinner that evening. I am going to start cooking more and freezing for double meals. I am tired of cooking and it will be nice to pull a meal from the freezer. Marie

I am not much of a planner, more of a fly by the seat person. I should have done better planning today. It was our annual family cookie baking day, I cracked & ate about 4 cookies. Oh well, stuff happens, back on plan. I did make a great pot of chicken noodle soup today. It is WW friendly. I melted about 1/2 pack of ff cream cheese in it. Very good!!! I have plenty for DH & myself to have tomorrow. If I can only stay out of the cookies!!

Figure out when you'll shop for what you need and make a shopping list Bonus: Find a new recipe to try. I will be cleaning out the leftovers from the fridge this week. There is about a quart of soup, salsa, 4 dozen eggs (what can I say, there was a really good sale on them ), several different breads, lots of salad making stuff, etc. I don't have any plans to do any shopping except maybe for some milk. I will probably take my lunch most of this week to work- usually lunch eat out 1 time a week which cold still happen.

I love your chart for planning meals for the week, Cindy!
What dinners will you make this week? Take into account your schedule and days you might need something quick. Sunday: Mostly burritos Monday: finish off the burritos and maybe something with the leftover turkey - potatoes and turkey in hash? (will grocery shop) Tuesday: shorbat addas (lentil soup with chard and potatoes) - for my daughter to eat when she gets off the plane Wednesday - January 9: Probably whatever my daughter has been craving for the past few years.
I have a new clay pot roasting thingy that I want to try out - hope to find a recipe to try while my daughter is here.
