Doris Day led an interesting life. After being sidelined as a dancer by an injury when she was young, she went on to become first a well-known band singer and then shot to fame in the movies. She survived several bad marriages, including one husband who exploited her and conspired with an attorney; she discovered on his death that she was virtually bankrupt, sued, and recovered several million dollars from the crooked attorney. After her 3rd bad marriage, she gave up. She was a life-long lover and advocate of dogs, and maintained her residence in Carmel Valley, CA on a large property where her tribe of dogs could roam and play in safety. The dogs had their own wing in her house.
So I’d say that Doris led a fulfilled life, overcame adversity several times, and led a peaceful, private life after retirement as a performer.
Brava, Doris. Rest in peace.

My absolute favorite Doris Day movie was and always will be 'Midnight Lace'. Ditto, along with The Man Who Knew Too Much.

My favorite Doris Day was Please Don't Eat the Daisies. Little did I know that I would have twins I loved that movie AND the TV series by the same name. Found out there was no tooth fairy watching that TV show. And of course, if there was no tooth fairy..... My Mom was out and my poor Dad was home with us kids. He seriously didn't know how to handle it. LOL

I hope one of the tv stations does a Doris Day movie week/weekend. I'd love to watch some of those movies again. TCM To Honor Doris Day with June Movie Marathon. TCM will celebrate the life and career of actress Doris Day with a full day marathon of her most iconic on screen performances. TCM on June 9 will offer a 24-hour, 13-film tribute to the actress and singer who died today (May 13) of pneumonia at the age of 97.
