This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Well, that's weird. I typed a post and thought it had posted, but apparently it did not.
Oh well, let's try again. Not much happening here at the moment. The roof repair guys got here yesterday and as soon as they pulled into the driveway the bottom fell out and it started pouring. They hung around for about a 1/2 hour, but no change. Of course about 10 minutes after they left the rain stopped and the sun popped out. Anyway, they're supposed to be coming back today to check on the damage from last weeks high winds, and give us a repair quote.
That's about it for now. I hope everybody had a good sleep last night and that Thursday treats you kindly.

Good morning everyone -
Had a steak last night. It's not usually my go to but it was really good.
Lots of negativity around the office right now that came out of nowhere yesterday. I just closed my door because I can't just listen to people complain all the time. I can't.
After dinner last night, swung by the store to pick up stuff for a potluck today. I made a recipe off skinnytaste - it's like a summer pasta with zucchini, tomatoes, and corn. Made that and crawled into bed. Tonight I have my nephew's band concert to go to. I am looking forward to it but the concert doesn't start until 7:30 pm. So, lol, I feel like I'll get home late (aka 9 pm).
Jana I hope they're figuring out what's going on and that you have a good day.
WAving at Andi, Robin, Susie. Lora what a bummer about the roof repair - hopefully you can get a quote today.

Good morning everyone.
RobinS everything my DS is going through is complications from her original hysterectomy. I am not sure it is something that would need the Mayo Clinic. I appreciate the suggestion though.
DS talked to her Dr. yesterday. She has an appointment with him on the 21st. He told her to come prepared to be admitted to the hospital. She does have one more surgery to get through. I am not sure when that will be.
Lora I hope you are able to get the roof estimate today.
Amanda sorry for the drama in your office. Hopefully things are better today. I don't blame you for not wanting to listen to be people being negative.
I had another decent food day yesterday. A little more snacky last night than the night before but all foods on my plan. I just need to be careful with that - regardless of what plan I am following over eating is over eating.
Appears that I might be in the office alone today which is fine with me. LOL
The weather is beautiful so far today. Makes me wish I was at home laying in a hammock (I don't actually own a hammock lol).
Waving to all.

Hi ROs...slept well, but went to bed with a darn headache again. I made an appt with the neurologist I saw in Sept...cheez, I thought it was just a couple of months ago and turns out it was 8 months ago! The soonest he has is June 12, so I guess if I really start to freak out, I will call my GP because someone there will be able to see me the day I call (if I sound urgent enough). I am trying not to take any meds right now because they say that the headache just rebounds back when you do that...we'll see how many days I can do that - ha - I am guessing not many! I saw on the news that some kind of tree/grass/whatever pollen is REALLY high right now, so maybe that could be the issue.
Lora - sorry about losing the previous post AND the roof guys having to leave yesterday. They planted 2 trees in my front yard 2 days ago...just out of the blue...they look really nice, but we never know what the developer will do...ha...they planted pin oaks all the way down the street. I think they are planting maples over on the next street. I guess lots of things like this happen in new communities. They are supposed to complete the bocce ball and pickleball courts in the next couple of weeks.
Amanda - I do not often have steak either, but I just finished the leftover steak I brought home from DS's house on Sunday, and believe it or not, it was as "melt in your mouth" good as it was then. It was pretty rare in the center for me so I wanted to just nook it a little (which I did). Oh my golly it was delicious. Smart move to close the door so you didn't have to listen to the complaints. Enjoy the concert...I'm sure they just LOVE all of your support.
Jana - I am going outside and read... I will funnel my happiness in the sun and warmth to you!!!

Good afternoon all. Having a pretty easy day today. All the personnel craziness happened yesterday so hopefully we're done with it for this week. Susie, please send some of that happiness in the sun to me as well, ok? I did get out for a walk at lunch time but it's not the same as lying in a hammock reading and sleeping.
Susie, sorry about the headache. I thought with headaches you're supposed to take meds early so you get on top of the pain before it develops. I don't remember hearing about rebound but you're definitely more of an expert than I am on this, sadly. Hope you're feeling better. I love steak, eat it more often than I should, but at least I am buying pastured, humanely raised, etc. etc. beef. I figure it's got to be better for me. Am having a filet tonight as a matter of fact. Wish I had an outdoor grill.
Jana, does that mean that DS is back out of the hospital again? I hope so. Congrats on the decent food day yesterday. I'm going for Day 1 myself today. Back doing BLE. Now I remember why WW, in any of its iterations, didn't work for me. As a friend said to me last night, "normal" is just a setting on the dryer, doesn't apply to people with eating issues. Hahaha. Enjoy your alone time in the office.
Lora, hope your roofers came back. Are they going to repair the boards that came down over your patio as well?
I have a meeting in a few minutes and then it's home time! Tomorrow I will mostly work at home, have a meeting with staff and supervisors in one of our offices close to my house, so a good way to start the weekend. The meeting of both boards went really well, although my treasurer aggravated me. One of the metaphors used for merger talks is that it's like a marriage. So, it's been over a year to get us to this point, plus the meeting last night of all the major players in this process, and the treasurer says to me at the end that we should play hard to get. I got a little testy with him and said "we've been playing hard to get for over a year now. Aren't we done with that?" He likes to be provocative, I think, but this is SO not a game! I complained about him to my board president. We'll see if that helps. Never a dull moment.
I have training tomorrow morning and think I won't get to the gym tonight, will go to our local produce place and also to Aldi. Avocados were $2 each in the supermarket and I'm hoping that even if Aldi doesn't have a deal like Lora found that time, it still might be cheaper than that. I was at Shop Rite this morning at 7 AM, got most of the shopping done but you know I'll be back there over the weekend...
I'll check back in here when I get home. Hope everyone had a good day.

Hi everyone,
The roof guys were back, stomped around on top of the house for awhile, took a bunch of measurements, and then gave us a way too big dollar amount. Lol. Oh the pleasures of home ownership, right? DH and I will discuss it this evening and go from there. I've spent most of the day painting and picking up around the house. It's hot and very humid out, so not that great of a day to be outside. Unfortunately, I have a whole summer full of those kinds of days coming up. Susie - tree pollen in ATL used to create havoc with my headaches. Fortunately, I don't seem to be suffering at that same level here. Not sure if it's just a different kind of trees, or a lesser concentration, or (as I suspect) a combo of all that plus just flat out cleaner air. Pollution is bad there, and then when you add pollen to that, it's just combo for misery. I hope you get some relief soon. I know it's just miserable.
Amanda - I can't say I blame you a bit for closing yourself away from the negativity. There were many, many days at my job when I wish I could have done that, cube life was often just the pits. There were a few times that I just moved to a small conference room when it was available. Had to LOL at your steak comment, we're actually having steak tonight along with side salad w/blue cheese dressing.
Jana - So glad DS is getting to see her Dr. This is the one at the University hospital, right? I'm guessing he'll want to run tests and try to narrow down the cause(s) of the nausea and resulting dehydration. I sure hope they get this fixed for her. Although the 21st feels like kind of a long time. Hugs and best wishes for her. I'm a little jealous of your hammock weather (even without the hammock). I walked out to the mailbox when the roof guys left, thinking that I might change into my boots and take a walk/hike. But NOPE, not happening. They humidity is suffocating. So I'm just back in the house being lazy instead. I really need time to ease into this summer thing. Lol

Andi - so glad the meeting went well overall. Sorry the treasurer is something of a butt. There's one in every crowd, right? My usual Aldi price on avocados is 86 cents each, so not the GREAT deal I got that one time, but certainly better than $2! Good Luck!!

Andi - well, I didn't last long without any kind of meds...took an extra strength tylenol (acetaminophen) and the pain moved from one side to the other for awhile - lol. I buy the grass-fed, more expensive beef too (when I do, which is rare...usually when I get it, I do so at a restaurant, so I'm sure that is probably the less expensive kind). Man, I know you just want this whole merger thing over with! Jana and Andi - Well, the outside didn't work out so well, even in the sun, the wind was blowing so it wasn't as warm and pleasant as I thought...ended up coming inside and lying on the sofa covered up with a blanket.
Lora - Can you just have the problem areas of the roof fixed or get another estimate? I guess we can count on everything being expensive.
I have a !meeting this evening and need to stop and get a baby shower card (already have the gift), so I will be heading out soon).

Susie - I'm sorry for the persistent headache. How miserable. We could just have the problem areas fixed, but they found quite a few loose shingles, missing nails etc. This is the original roof, and I suspect that it was probably put on by somebody cutting corners. It looks like by the time we fixed the problem areas, we might as well go ahead and replace the whole thing. They were showing me the issues, there are truly loose shingles here and there all over the roof. Also, we wouldn't want to miss any, we currently have no leaks, and absolutely want to keep it that way. Plus we were looking at eventually switching out to a metal roof anyway, so that's another part of the conversation. Do we stick with conventional shingles, or bite the bullet if we're replacing the whole thing and go ahead and go with the metal (which has a 40 - 60 year lifespan). So much more durable than conventional asphalt shingles which is more like 10 - 20 years (closer to 10 in this part of the country between heat, hail, wind, and tornadoes). Thought I was done with house decisions for a while...Ha!

Good evening all. I got to the produce store but didn't make it to Aldi's. All I really needed there was an avocado and I decided just to come home, will pick up the avocado and a few other things over the weekend. I'm home most of the day tomorrow except for a meeting with staff in the middle of the day so I'll have time to do some cooking. I also have 2 extremely overripe bananas I'm going to have to figure out what to do with or just chuck. Dinner was delicious - fabulous filet, 10 ozs of green beans and a frozen mixed vegetable, butter for the veggies. I may make some tea shortly, my favorite Bengal Spice.
Lora, my guess is you'll buy the metal roof - sounds like the sensible thing to do and will save you money (and headaches) in the long run. But ouch, I know you were not looking forward to more home expenses. I think it goes with the territory though, no? One of the reasons that renting is getting increasingly tempting to me...
Susie, sorry you had to go out this evening with the headache. And here it was a beautiful day out but too cool to lie in the sun, I think. Wonderful for walking though. Actually I'm not looking forward to having the merger done with; it's actually fascinating to me and I've never done anything like this before. Plus, when it's over I'll be retired and that brings with it a whole host of different uncertainties.
OK, off to do some reading and relaxing. I put the groceries away and am not going to do any meal prep tonight at all.
