This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning & happy Friday,
No news from here. We haven't mad the final decision on the roof yet, as far as metal or shingles. I think DH is going to do a little more investigation and make a few calls.
It looks to be clear and sunny through the weekend with highs around 90. It sounds a little hot to me for this time of year, but I guess it's better than rain and storms.
I hope everybody has a great Friday. I'll check back later.

Good morning and happy, happy Friday to everyone!
Update on DS - she is still in the hospital. When they do her wound care, they also change out her ostomy connection (I am not sure what the correct word for this is - it has like a little rubber gasket that seals the opening of the bag against her skin so it does not leak) - when they changed all this out the ostomy (fecal matter) leaked into her wound. They cleaned everything up the best they could but were concerned of possible infection so they kept her at the hospital to monitor that. She has been in touch with her University Dr. and he has told her she can come back to the University before Tuesday if she feels like she needs to - but when she goes back they are admitting her. The downside to that is it is 2 hours from where she currently lives so it is harder on her DH, but it is a better hospital and she is close to the specialist. I am not sure what they are going to do right now.
Yesterday I snuck out of work early because I was dying to be outside -lol. I have a huge umbrella outside that I can sit under. I went to move the umbrella and the stand and I dropped the bottom on my left big toe - OUCH Now my toe is swollen and pretty painful. I did enjoy being outside - I napped for a little bit. I read for a little bit and I played with the dogs for a bit. I also had a glass of wine while I was reading. It was very relaxing and felt wonderful. I hope tonight when I get off I can sit outside some more. DH plans on grilling some cheddar jalapeno sausages on the grill tonight.
Susie I am sorry about the continued headaches.
I need to go back and read the posts from yesterday - my memory is horrible

Good morning all. Wow, Lora, that does sound like summer temps! Sounds like you'll be indoors a bunch today.
Jana, thanks for the update on DSister. I can't believe that at the hospital they had a leak issue. Poor DS! If they admit her at the university hospital would they also be reversing the ostomy? Good for you for playing hooky yesterday and getting outside, but sorry about the toe. I whacked my toe when I was at DSon's house a week ago and it got all purple, which is now gone, but the toe is still swollen. Doesn't hurt at least. Life is dangerous, right?
I'm working at home this morning although so far have done some cooking (eggplant in tomato sauce, roasting butternut squash and broccoli) and made a banana oat pancake for breakfast with chicken sausage. No work done yet... Have to be at a meeting locally at noon and that's about it for me today, back home to my sofa. I did get to training this morning so at least I've had some activity.
Have a great day, all.

Andi the goal for DS is to have the ostomy reversed. She lost so much weight the 4 months she was in the hospital that they wanted her to get some nutrition built back up before doing a 4th surgery this year on her. Originally the appointment on the 21st was to check in to see how she was doing and to start discussing when that 4th surgery might be able to take place. With the problems of the dehydration I am not sure what they will do when she gets there.
I forgot to mention - we found a 2nd house that we want to look at on Saturday. The square footage of the 2nd house is smaller (it is about half the size of the first house) but it is on 13 acres of land. It is also beautiful but we would have to figure out how to expand it when it was time for my DP to move in with us. The 2nd house does not have the water views that the first house has but it is a secluded lot (which is what we are looking for) and there are a lot of things about the 2nd house that I like as well, both houses are in the same general area.

Andi - I hope all goes smoothly with the noon meeting. You're quite the little kitchen fairy this morning, aren't you? Good for you. It's so much easier to keep the eating wise when we have things prepped and ready to go.
Jana - Nice! So glad that you've found another possibility to look at. I think that's what helped DH and I narrow down what exactly we HAD to have and what we were willing to compromise on. Having things to compare and contrast made it easier for us to come to a final decision, I think.

Good Morning - got up early and went to my gym class...lots of weight lifting. Got a message that my cleaning lady will arrive around 11:30... so any time now. This is a good time for me...gave me a chance to get things organized here and get to the gym first. DH has already left for his 12:15 aqua session... I will probably stop there after I run my errands.
Lora - does the metal roof cost more than the shingles? I would be tempted to go with the metal. Good decision to keep researching.
Jana - no, no about the leak into the wound...cheez! I agree with Andi...can't believe this happened in the hospital...poor DS...she has been through it for sure! Yeah for sneaking out of work! Later in the day, the breeze did die down a little, but by then I was comfy on the sofa. Warm today, but overcast. HH this afternoon at the clubhouse. Your glass of wine in the sunshine sounds wonderful. So exciting about the 2 new house finds...did DS finding his house make you want to start looking again? So sorry about the toe...yeow!
Andi - my golly that eggplant in tomato sauce sounds yummy ...and that pancake with sausage...you are making me hungry. I may have stop at the store and buy an eggplant! Well, since you have already been to your training session this morning, you deserve a relaxing afternoon.
OK...off and running as usual

Hi everyone! I have been having terrible internet issues at home for weeks now... I don't usually have time at work, but it has been a little slow this morning.
Jana, from your description, both places sound really nice! I always like acreage. I am currently thinking about moving to a smaller place with a smaller mortgage...
Lora, hope you enjoy the weather..it will be nice for a morning walk! I will be interested to see what you decide on the roof.
Andi, all the cooking sounds delicious! Nice to work from home sometimes...
I have this weekend off, but I did pick up an overnight shift Saturday night, on the medic unit. There's a full moon, so who knows ...anything could happen. I figure even if I get busy, I can rest on Sunday!
Time for lunch... I hope to bbl, depending on my internet!

Susie - Dang girl! So productive already! Good for you! Material wise the metal roof is only slightly more expensive than traditional asphalt shingles. But it's more expensive to install. So overall a more expensive initial investment, however it would last the rest of my lifetime, and the upkeep/potential repair needs are minimal. DH made some calls and did some research and found out that the company that came out to quote us for shingle are also one of the highest rated and most experienced in this part of the state for metal roof installation. So depending on what the price difference is, we'll have to weigh that out with all the other factors. I love the look of the metal and there are tons of them around here.
Robin - totally get that you're considering a downsize. With our move to Alabama, we went from 2900 sq. ft. to just under 1700. From 2 story to single story. It's honestly made a HUGE difference in the amount of actual house work that I'm doing. Plus we did several levels of major ridding and purging before we actually moved, simply because this house has so much less storage space than the ATL house. But SOOOOOO worth it all. It's amazing how having less "stuff" actually feels like real weight off your being. The mortgage payment is just short of 1/2 of the ATL one. Of course, we ended up with a whole lot of yard to mow..Lol. But that's what we wanted - and since I'm not working and now have the JD, it's a breeze.

Got my errands run (well, except one) and heading outside to read, then HH at 5:00 and a game (Left-Right-Center - anyone heard of that) at the clubhouse.
RobinMD - It was really nice for us to downsize - we got rid of soooooo much stuff. Like Lora said, it will make your life so much easier. If I remember correctly, you have a HUGE yard, plus other acreage to care for... How are the doggies?
Lora - how many rocks have you hidden so far? I think you said one had been found because it was not where you left it-=--is that right?
