WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Short walk with friend after pool, walked home from clubhouse, another short walk alone later.
I started something new. I am reading on my porch for 1/2 hour every day. I never relax like that and I'm loving it. If it's not porch weather, I'll just use the recliner. After all, I am retired. Seems silly that I don't make the time to read for pleasure during the day.

Yes! It’s Saturday! I went shopping yesterday afternoon to look for graduation decorations. I ended up going into a store that I haven’t shopped at for years. $150 later I walked out with several huge bags. It was all stuff I’ve been looking for: new living room curtains ($26 for the entire set), new sheets and pillow cases (pillow cases were $2.99 a set and I think the sheets were $11.99), a new inside doormat for our patio door ($3.99).......I mean really. Everything is top quality, just past season and close outs. Crazy really. I eventually did shop for party decorations and didn’t do nearly as well.
Nancy, your pants are loose? How wonderful! Yes to reading on your porch in the afternoon. That is a simple pleasure that you’ve probably waited your whole life for. So glad you’re making the time. I do not plan my food a day in advance, but I typically have a general idea of what I’ll eat. I’m a broken record when it comes to food, I eat the same things most days.
Lori, thanks for the Mandevilla recommendation. They’ll look nice among my geraniums :-)
Kathy, how did the rest of the day go? A two mile walk is a great way to start the day. Sometimes one or two healthy things a day is the best we can do. It’s ok! You will get there.

C40. D1. I've tracked my food for today and have 2 hours of housework planned for APs. Yesterday was pretty bad... Today is a new day. I've gained back all of the 25# I lost last year. I am so tired of this yo-you. Searching for a lifelong balance - somehow. In 2018 I was OP from May through September. October through May I was off plan nearly the whole time.
It is cold, rainy, and windy outside. Tonight I might go out to dinner with DH (I planned in 12 points). We haven't done that in ages.
Nancy - great idea to spend some time reading and relaxing each day. Yes! You are retired! :-) Sadly, the candy bar was a Nestle Crunch, which I don't even like, which is why DH bought them. He said "you don't even like those." It was just intense sugar craving - anything would do. Sugar is what does me in.... Apart from that I do ok.
Jan - sounds like you found a fun store and the graduation planning is going well? Can't be too far off now! And you will have summer soccer to look forward to. You are a much better sports mom than I am - I just don't enjoy that so much. Spelling bee, however, has me on pins and needles :-)
Lori - I hope that graduation week goes well for you... I'm guessing the summer is a bit easier once the students are away. Thank you for the encouragement.
Hi to all who follow!

Enjoyed a nice relaxing morning and delicious waffle with banana, blueberries and strawberries. Heading to my niece’s (17) dance recital, this will be her last one. I’ve attended everyone since she was 5....
Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend!!

Jan - Great unexpected shopping spree. Enjoy your new treasures.
Kathy - I love to watch spelling bees. You'll find the balance. I promise. Stopping by here each day is a great step in the right direction. How about telling us each time you pass up a temptation, especially a sugary one. My new attempt is to record in a journal each unplanned temptation and whether or not I succumb. It's been about 50/50 lately which I'm considering an improvement.
Lori - How lovely that you've made the effort to attend your niece's recitals these many years. I'm sure it's meant a lot to her. Is she off to college next year?
