I used to be a slave to the numbers on the scale and worked hard to break that old and very firmly ingrained habit. I worked at it and at one point was happily only weighing myself monthly.
Recently returning to weekly meetings I now find myself starting to do the same thing from which I had weaned myself---being unduly affected by the numbers on the scale, whether there is a loss or a gain. HATE it. I am perfectly fine with slow weight loss but for some reason the actual numbers are what upset me. I'm starting to slip into that "oh what the heck I am not losing so I might as well eat this" mode with gains and an "I did good so I can indulge a little" attitude with losses. BAD, and something which I have not done for a long time.
Is it possible to go to meetings now and not be weighed but still check in? Every-other-week weigh-ins would be okay for me, I think, but the weekly thing is having an adverse effect on me and I can feel it. I recognize that I do need a bit of oversight and accountability and the support of meetings but I don't like how I am starting to feel a creeping obsession with scale numbers.

As far as I know you can attend meetings without getting weighed in. You are only required to weigh in once a month. I say that as that is how it USED to be....not really sure now, but if I were you, I would call them or chat to find the answer. So much has changed with how they do things. Good luck

Alrighty---chatted with a WW Coach online. Yes, you can attend meetings without getting weighed. She didn't mention any requirement to weigh in at all but I believe it is still monthly for LT people in order to get the vouchers? You'll get points towards Rewards as long as you check in but there is no need to get weighed if you don't want to. I guess this all goes along with the "wellness" aspect without always an emphasis on weight loss. My thing right now is that I am definitely getting support from the meetings but don't want to fall into the obsession with numbers trap that I have fallen victim to in the past. I'll play it by ear from now on---no set pattern to weigh-ins, stay for meetings, avoid obsessing. And rack up those Reward Points for that shoe bag---woohooo!

I so understand what you are talking about. I think one of my biggest downfalls was "diet mentality and numbers on the scale" for most of my life. About 10 years ago I said enough - I would never "pay" again to lose weight and I was finished with the obsession. I immediately started staying "the same" as far as size and weight (weighing only about once a month or less) - this went for quite a few years...in the past 2 years I have lost about 10 pounds not doing a lot differently but obviously, something changed. Letting go of the obsession was the best gift I ever gave myself. Marie

Yes, lifetime members weigh one a month to get their voucher. At least Mindy hasn't taken that away

DebDoesWW, LOL but it **may** be coming. Of course watch the number of active LT members drop by a huge number if they take the free tools away. fullmahina, my understanding is that—since this is no longer about weight and weight loss—WW doesn’t care if you EVER weigh in as long as they are getting your monthly fee. Personally, I weigh in once a month and collect my LT voucher. But if I were over goal I would still weigh in once a month or **not at all**. Why? Because I am NOT attending a meeting; my friends and I are using their meeting room during open hours at the staff’s invitation. Hence, technically, we’re not attending a meeting and need not weigh or pay. I know one of the LT members in our little group has inched over the top of her free range and has stopped weighing in or checking in so she doesn’t have to pay. She’ll pay the one-time weekly fee when she gets back under the magic 2#.

You haven't had to weigh in for a long time unless you were a LT member for the monthly weigh in. You can even skip that weigh in but you don't get free etools and have to pay.
