I am the last one up and enjoying the peace and quiet before heading off to bed myself.
I finished all the company prep just in time to get a shower and head to the airport to pick up DD3, Madison, Leah and DMIL. They made the trip fine, but everyone was glad to get settled in and enjoy some of DH's spaghetti & meatballs, salad and garlic bread topped with olive salad mix. They were awfully tired and on Eastern time, so even an early bedtime here was late for them.
Leah screamed when I tried to hold her at the airport, but went straight to "Pop" when we got home, the little stinker! She did let me hold her later. She is finally starting to say a few words and "Nah" and "No" are favorites. Madison is SO excited to be here and settled right in with the Barbie dolls. After dinner she said, "Grammie, it's been quite a while since I got to watch your iPad...". We made her hold out until after bath and jammies and then let her watch a while before bedtime. She loves YouTube Kids.
DD's MIL is a sweetheart and we are so glad to have her here. She and I got along great right from the start of DD3 & DSIL's engagement and marriage. She loves to read and we talk about books a lot. I don't think DD could have made the trip without her help.
Remember the links I posted a while back on the Morganza Spillway? Well, it looks like they will open some gates again this year. The decision will be made next week, but it looks pretty certain and the farmers and ranchers are moving cattle and equipment out in anticipation. All crops will be a total loss and it will mean the end of crawfish season. One guy had 900 crawfish traps to move out of the spillway. I hope I can still find a sack for DH to boil on Friday. The river has been at flood stage since January and is rising again.
Heading to bed. Sue, you and DH are in our thoughts and prayers.
