This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning everyone.
I woke up with a little bit of a headache, not sure what that's about. Hopefully this coffee will take care of that quickly. Just a usual day here. I could mow, I'm thinking I'll wait until closer to the long weekend, so that we can enjoy it for our outside time over the weekend.
Yep, DH is having a bit of a rough patch with his eye problem last week and now the tooth.
Susie - so glad the dinner was a success. It sounds like a lot of work. What was it that you served?
RobinMD - I guess I'd never really considered the implications, but OMG a mountain trail rescue must be very challenging. Not only the trail, but all of the equipment and supplies that have to be lugged in, and then back out with an incapacitated human in tow. Yikes. I imagine that would challenge a person of even the best fitness level. I didn't realize that you were so close to the AT. Isn't it sad about the recent AT occurrences in VA?
So happy so many are reporting good scale results. You guys are keeping me inspired. I'm just sort of hovering at the moment, but it's fine. I've drifted a little from my "main meal in the afternoon" plan and am back to eating a couple of smaller meals and my body is not liking that as much. Always such a challenge to find that perfect balance between what our body likes and what our brain likes, isn't it? Haha.
Okay, off to start a load of towels. How does a house with only 2 people ALWAYS have laundry to be done? #lifemystery

Good morning, Lora, and ATF. Just so you know, I live alone and always have laundry waiting to be done. In fact, started a load when I got up this morning... Hope your headache doesn't stick around.
I slept pretty well, am starting the day off with a dentist appointment, my very favorite activity in the world. Not. And ending it with needing to attend an event that will determine whether we get the $100,000 for a new substance use outreach van. It's a big dinner event and our fundraising person will do an 8 minute presentation along with the other finalists, and then these women vote. My PR director would have gone but he came down yesterday with some weird vertigo and is going to urgent care today. So I'm stepping in. I prepped and packed lunch and dinner so I guess I'm ready. I won't get home until really late tonight which is a bummer. Glad we have a 3 day weekend coming up!
After a hot day yesterday the weather has cooled down, in the upper 50's right now and it feels good. I'm sure by tonight I'll be wanting to turn some heat on again! Ha.
Have a great day all, must run.

Good morning Lora and Andi and ATF -
Andi - I started reading your post and saw something about a dentist appointment and then $100,000. I thought that seemed really expensive for dental work but I kept reading. I hope you're feeling better.
Lora I'm one person and there's always laundry :-) I hope DH feels better soon and that your headache resolves quickly.
One of my coworkers came in a few minutes ago and asked if we could get together for a drink tonight. I said yes. So we'll see how that goes. (she's my counterpart - nothing date like about this - I am realizing that read weird)
I applied for another job last night. I was looking at my excel sheet of what I've applied for in the past 14 months. There's a lot of red (indicating rejections) but there's a lot I haven't heard back from yet. I'm not sure how to take that. At this point I'm just going to keep pushing and applying for what I see.
Ate in the dining hall yesterday (I get a meal plan in summer that equates to lunch each work day) but I regretted it. Going to go home and have what is already made today.

Thanks for the laundry support! Ever since I officially graduated into real adulthood (ie moving out of my parents house), I've had a what I now know is a silly pipe dream of having every piece of laundry washed, dried and put away...all at the same time. Even if it's just for a few hours. Ha! Around here, it doesn't seem to last for minutes though Oh, and the headache passed pretty quickly with the influx of a big steaming mug of the nectar of life (aka coffee). Amanda - have fun with your colleague this evening. Oh, was also wondering if you have your updated resume out on Linked In and other sites like that? DH is constantly getting inquiries, even though he's not actively looking. Andi - sorry for your really long day, but good job prepping for it. Fingers crossed that you get the $$!!

Up and off to morning Balance & Stretch class...got out of the house a little too late though and decided not to go into the exercise room once I got there (there was a substitute teacher anyway - so I just left and went to DD's and took a walk with her and DGD - not much exercise there though). Back home and then off to Tap AND our "performance" on the tiny stage there - ha - maybe I will send you a pic if DH got any good ones.
Back home and catching up here...then off to pick up DGS and take him to an early dinner as a surprise for him and then Bridge tonight at 6:00. DGS is supposed to be here tomorrow morning at 7:20, so I hope I can still get to my morning class at 8:00 and get back in time to take DGD to pre-school by 9:30. At least I do not have to pick here up at 12:30 tomorrow so should make it to Mah jongg on time easily! Since DXH will be here Wed - Sun, I probably won't see the grands the rest of this week.
Lora - I had appetizers: 2 different hummus blends with 2 different GF types of crackers and grapes, 3 different wines plus a sparkling wine with berry and limeade juices to make mimosa type drinks. DD also suggested that I make ice cubes with the berry juice, so I did that and put 2 blueberries in each cube - so cute. The main course was a "Loaded Chicken and Potato Casserole, Health Salad - a recipe of my grandmother's (in her own handwriting) which is sauerkraut, finely chopped carrots, green peppers,& onions with a mixture of vinegar, oil, and sugar, and Green Beans. Then for dessert a coconut cake recipe of my mother-in-law (no longer with us)...it was all kind of a tribute to passed (thinking of Mother's Day)...plus individual mini GF key-lime pies that my DD actually gave me since she had a baby shower for her sister-in-law the day before and had these left over. I think it is more the stress of getting everything set than the actual work... we sat in the dining room for dinner and then in the family room area for dessert. It was very nice. I think your big, open room would lend itself better to this.
Andi - hope all goes well at the dentist (all 3 granddaughters are going this afternoon). They love it too - NOT.
AManda - had to laugh at the $100,000 dental appt. I always hated applying for jobs...keep it up though, something will work out.
BBl...

Susie, I'm exhausted reading about your day and I'm the one with the fulltime job!!! I don't know how you do it, really I don't. Your menu for your get-together looks so good and I love how you celebrated various mothers via their recipes. Btw, the dentist was fine, just I was numb for hours after 5 minutes of work. I'm just so anxious about pain I always ask for Novocaine but this time it was definitely overkill. He just did some bonding in places where my gums have receded and exposed tooth, so no big deal at all.
I have to leave at 5 to go the fancy country club for the event tonight. Yes, please keep fingers crossed everyone. Luckily I am not the one presenting because I'd be a basket case. Staffing an "information table" should be well within my wheelhouse and is my assigned job. I just saw one of the staff who will share her story tonight at the event and she is so excited - she's a real success story, old time crack cocaine user, messed up life, got clean, started working for us as a volunteer and is now not only a fulltime employee but is also representing the agency tonight. She came in to give me a hug. Makes my whole job worthwhile, moments like this.
OK, I won't be back again today but will check in tomorrow morning after training. Going into work a little late...
