We are in a long canal going toward the Black Sea and the town of Constanta as well as a resort at Mamaia. I am not sure if I will be brave enough to step in to the cold black sea but I guess several of the other passengers will. I will see when we get there. Tonight we pack our bags and spend the next two nights in Bucharest. Our last tours will be a tour of Bucharest and then a long day trip to Transylvania and back. I already dread the long airplane ride home and my bloated swollen body when I get off the plane but My husband and I have already started planning meals and exercise for the days after we return and we will have a quiet memorial day though he refuses to eat fish that day π

Today I am with friends. The Russian woman I met at the store can't make it today because she has tourists from Russia here to visit religious sites. Maybe next week. It will be a good day. The FIRE on the facing mountain was contained. There are some forests but not like in the USA. Fires can spread but nothing like the ones that make the news in other parts of the world - thank goodness!
I can:
* Have fun * Hydrate (usually don't drink as much water in someone else's house) * laugh * look the food over and do a mental points-check before putting food on my plate
SUSI: I have tried to make up menus and found I often don't want what I decided a week ago I would eat. I usually plan meal by meal. I also never know what produce will be fresh when I shop. I have thought it would be nice to have several meals with known calories/points/CORE-SFT "knowns" and choose from them depending on the day. I suppose I could come up with menus based on the produce I buy...though I forgot that we had arugula/roca until hubby reminded me and with that I usually make pasta but instead had it in a wrap with hummus and sun dried tomatoes for dinner last night. I keep thinking I should "plan" but so far never really have EXCEPT when I was a newbie and had the week's menus prepared by WW. I would follow whatever menu it was and swap out what I couldn't find.
LADONNA: I woke the morning of the fire across the valley to the smell of the fires so closed all the windows. I hate the smell of burning and the ash it can bring into the house. It didn't last too long. Never heard what caused it or how much was burned. Good job at the fish-fry!
BEE: Lovely photo and beautiful morning, indeed!
JUNE: How wonderful that you have a great niece to enjoy!
ANN: Green beans...on their own leave me iffy but the way they are fixed here can be tasty:
* fry onions, add the bite size flat beans, fry some more, season with local mixed spice and salt, cook till tender over low heat * fry onions, add green beans in bit size pieces, add tomatoes and garlic, salt and pepper and cook till tender * as above though you fry ground meat with the onions and garlic then add the tomatoes and seasonings then eat over rice * boil bite size beans (round thin ones) and then drain. Add lemon juice, garlic and olive oil. Season with salt and pepper
The last one is a recipe I made at my sister's and she uses the big thick round beans and boils them whole then does the lemon-olive oil-garlic sauce and serves them as appetizers.
PAM: Hope you feel better soon!
BECKY: See the note to Ann on green beans
DIVA: Asked hubby about the fire and he said it was probably people clearing land hoping to build OR removing weeds...sometimes it gets away from the fire starter but he hadn't heard anything and it was contained quickly. This happened on the main highway near a tunnel and then it rained and with nothing there to hold the soil...the landslide covered the freeway and it is still not back to normal.

59* now, high in the mid-70*s, sunny with low humidity... lovely Spring weather, finally!
DivaTaxi will run as usual. MHMR is off-duty; GrammyWags is taking today in full. Tonight the Kressling has YM, providing color guard for the township's Support Our Troops Rally. That's going to be at the main library/health center veterans memorial, which is walking distance from our house. He doesn't have soccer practice; that will be on Friday. K'ling2 probably has practice, and we're not sure where the Zigster will end up.
MousekeTWO had a quiet Tuesday with us - lounging on our loveseat watching Paw Patrol and nibbling on dry cereal - but his temp went back up mid-afternoon. He'll have another "relaxing day" today, with GrammyWags, and I will be completely off-duty from the MousekeHouse.
As I posted late yesterday, Toots had rehearsal last night and Son#1 cancelled soccer practice. The township has not mowed the field and the grass is up to the knees of the group that he'd work with - the little ones. They don't have games this weekend so they can miss the practice. This meant that I was <gasp!> HOME ALONE - what an odd occurrence!
All the winter bedding and towels are packed away, and now I'm eyeing up my clothes closet <hmmmm>. And I didn't get my errands done yesterday, so I might piggyback a couple of others in there.
I can smell the coffee... βββ...
πΏπΉπΏπΉπΏπΉπΏπΉπΏ Have a healthy-eating day, all. πΏπΉπΏπΉπΏπΉπΏπΉπΏ

Ann Sending you a big, warm hug. We were so lucky to have had wonderful sisters. Hope that today brings more sunshine your way & you have a nice walk in the 'hood.
Audrey Enjoy the last leg of your European jaunt. I might dip a toe or two into the water if it had healing properties or if it made a good story. Otherwise, nah. . . Great that you two are in sync w/ post-vacation menu planning & walking. Becky A friend once told me that Fairbanks, Alaska is supposed to have N average of 74 degrees. That alwaysstuck in my head, b/c it seems so implausible. But I never cared enough to confirm that "fact" shared by her tour guide. Did your DH have an luck when he called the dr office?
Bee j Hope that you enjoyed your BS yesterday.
Cathy I understand completely. I can plan a meal in advance, and then feel like <meh> in a half hour! I was thinking about that this morning. Asking myself-- what could I do to better support myself at this time in my life? Goodcatch remembering that there are vegetables in your fridge that want to become "something" and what that could be.
LaDonna Great job at the seafood buffet! Nice when you can order a smaller, healthier option. Pam Hope that you feel better today!
Mj That has to feel mighty unusual to be "alone" and unscheduled. . . So what did you forage to eat? Plz come to my house and tackle any one of R's "areas." Hope that M2 feels better today. Susi Are you now in the last phase of gearing up for another summer season? Has to be exciting to get underway.

Ann Ha ha ha . . As a child, I always got a creepy vibe from Mr. Green Jeans. There was something about him. Then again, I did not like a lot of children's programming. I remembering asking my mother just what was wrong w/ Timmy's mother. How many times would she rely on Lassie to save Timmy from danger?

Mawnin' ALL!
All this talk abot The Captain, Mr Green Jeans and the crew reminds of one of the books they used to read --- Stone Soup. To me, one of the greatest lessons on what you can accomplish by sharing. I had 6 kids so I watched a lot of them. Did y'all know that Bob Keeshan (Capt.) also played Clarabell the Clown on Howdy Doody?
Now, after all that reminiscing, I am WILLING and AWARE this morning.
Went outside this morning andhad a great surprise --- my Gardenia Jasminoide had a bloom. Yea, yea, yea ...
Below is sunrise on the back 40. Gonna be a glorious day --- racing on up to 90ΒΊ.

MJ thanks for the hug. June I had to LOL on not liking children's programs. Only thing that I was afraid of (and still am) are dolls and clowns and puppets They just freak me out. (((hugs))) back to you and you are right. We were blessed with wonderful sisters Bee I did read that the captain played Clarabell on Howdy Doody. I also read that he was a Marine. Funny how certain things stick in your head...yet I can't remember day to day stuff LOL. It's still cool here but sunny. In a bit I plan on getting my act together and head on out for a walk. Sometimes just being outside and seeing people will cheer me up. Bee I'm willing and aware right along with you. Again, love the picture. WAving.....................
