Karen, I went to future DDIL's parents, they always have big holiday BBQ's, not always at their house though, but they invited us. DH was still not feeling well enough to go out. The city is quieter on the weekends, but particularly quiet on a holiday weekend when lots of people leave the city for the long weekend. It's easy to get restaurant reservations, and the streets aren't gridlocked, as long as we avoid July 4th when they do the Fireworks over the east river. I am about 20 miles from the tunnel into the city. Yesterday, once I got out of the tunnel and onto the avenue to take uptown to DS's, the lights were timed in my direction and I didn't have to stop once. We then had to drive out of the other side of the city because her parents lived outside the city to the northwest. Coming back, the only traffic I had was on the bridge from New Jersey. They not only invite their immediate family, the parents siblings family (her mother doesn't talk to her brother, so only the dad's side), they invite the DSIL's brothers and family. On the car ride home DS was trying to relate that relationship to who it would be for them. Once we realized that it would be like them growing up and inviting future DDIL's sisters and family, he realized of course he could see himself doing something like that. There were some people I still couldn't figure out who they were connected to, but were there.
It is a beautiful day here, and it will be in the 70's. I might try to go out shoe shopping. I need black black flats, I ordered a pair of Clark's from Amazon, but I don't like them. Maybe I will go to DSW. It's a huge discount shoe store, I know there are stores around the country, just not sure where.

Happy Memorial Day--Thank you veterans for all you gave for the rest of us and to those families who lost loved ones fighting for out country!
Karen---Yes the rain we are getting now will be heading your way. Your patio looks awesome and the hummingbirds think you are awesome too I bet. Good job on getting those photos on here. You Rock!! Guessing your knees are getting stronger that you are able to do more vacumming and before you know it you will be walking around like the other gal. May be you two will even get to be walking buddies. Always fun to make new friends.
Gareth---Great way to declutter and I bet the grands love it.
Gotta run---we go in every year for our Memorial Day program so need to get ready. Raining so no yardwork when I get back home. Looks like I will cave and make some rhubarb torte.

Well, we decided on a Bosch dishwasher. It was on sale and top rated by Consumer Reports. We bought it at Lowes which was really busy Saturday. At first, there was only one employee in appliances, but they called for help and eventually there were 3 working in that area. The woman who waited on us didn't usually work in that section, but the manager of the department was working and he doubled checked all the paper work. It should be installed this weekend. It's been a long time since we've had to handwash all our dishes.
Karen, your condo looks very nice. I hope you get your area mowed. My DH would love it if someone would just show up and mow our yard. There are all sorts of yard services around, but he is not ready to spend the money for that.
We have friends who live on the Oklahoma/Arkansas border. They are not flooded, thank goodness. The pictures they posted are unbelievable. It's hard to imagine that much water.
It is very sunny today, but the humidity is 64%
Everyone have a good day.

Carol, glad you decided on the dishwasher. Do you have a garbage disposal in your sink? I remember having some kind of problem where there was a hose that needed to be uncapped when ours was connected.
Pinky, have fun at your Memorial Day event, although not sure where you are going. I somehow thought that DSW was nationwide. I ended up finding 2 pairs of flats, one navy, one black, so I am set for a while. I will take them on the cruise along with the Sketchers I found yesterday at TJ Maxx. Now for DH to just decide what he wants to bring. I am wearing a top today that I know will be one I will take, It was buried on my shelves in the closet, it has long sleeves which can be rolled up and buttoned to stay a bit shorter, and is a knit, which is comfortable and easy to pack, and can be layered. I keep looking at the weather forecast for Alaska. I am hoping it will warm up again a bit there.

I thought DSW was nation wide, too. The nearest one to us is a suburb north of Dallas. I need some pants so it sounds like I need to try TJMaxx. I haven't been doing a whole lot of shopping lately. I have 2 pair of Sketchers slip-ons. I really like them, very comfortable.
Yes, we have a garbage disposal. I think there is already a hose hooked up to the dishwasher.
Just face timed with DGS. He is doing great, talking more and more. They went to a splash park close to their house. They are taking it easy today. They usually do a lot on weekends-grocery shopping, yard work, library-so they are happy for a day to just hang out.

Carol, so that is where we must have had the problem, the new hose that hooks up to the garbage disposal wasn't uncapped. Sometimes I am lucky at TJ Maxx, other times not, but if I am in that shopping center, I often pop in to take a look. Tomorrow I should get my tops from Kohl's, but I have a feeling that I ordered them too big. At least there is one that I can return them to if they aren't good.
