Yesterday was a good day. I ended up making delicious healthy food and enjoyed it all. Beets are becoming a favorite with the spiralizer/ribbon maker device I have and with the red cabbage and other things put with them (raisins, craisins, vinegar, onions, garlic, etc) it was delicious and there are leftovers. Will talk to children and granddaughters later today, I think, and am looking forward to it.
I can and will:
* hydrate * choose whole grains and fresh produce at every meal * be happy
AUDREY: Not sure if the Christmas Lima Beans are heirloom or not but when I bought them thought they would be mottled like that when cooked BUT the colors kind of merge when cooked so just dark. They are meaty in texture (kind of) and look like butter/broad beans. I still have some and will have them for lunch with wild & brown rice.
ANN: They may be an heirloom bean or a hybrid or something. Hubby is going to try to plant/grow them but have a feeling they won't develop as they are not germinating in water. I have never had fried bread except perhaps donut type things...with cheese, too? Oh my!
MJ: Your weather sounds a bit cooler than here but I am thrilled it has been a bit cooler the last 48 hours.
JUNE: Lebanon is, in many ways, similar to California for geography and climate so there is plenty of fresh produce year round...and way too much food! The Christmas beans are imported...from California or somewhere like that. I am now out so will be using up some of the other dry beans in the cupboard.
SUSI: Thank you for sharing how you plan and what you planned to eat yesterday. I usually use what hubby brings from the garden or buys at the produce market...it can be interesting. You mentioned "putting up the pool" - what kind of pool is it?
BECKY: I think it is time to find a new physician to see about your knee/injections!
PAM: I have often wondered why a whole roast turkey is not on the menu except on holidays. Hope you enjoy it AND what will you prepare as side dishes?

Thanks for starting us Ann. Glad you had a good day Bee Welcome home Audrey! Becky - Hope you are holding up before the injections. Cathy - I have a 10' round 30" high pool that I put on my deck. I have a tiki bar, TV, large table that seats 10, 4 lounge chairs, a grill and small fridge out there. Plus I have a HUGE shed, veggie garden, herb garden and large yard for playing games. That and the beach are my 2 happy places. Coffee, walking Charlie to feed the ferals, spin class, Wharton State Forrest for a walking trail and then a picnic lunch at the lake. I picked up an Italian sub to share with Carol along with baked chips and cotton candy grapes. Tomato sammy for breakfast as I found some that taste like "real" tomatoes at this time of the year. My garden is looking good and healthy. I know it will be another 6-8 weeks before I can start picking, but watching it grow is also satisfying.

66* now, forecast is for 89* and partly-cloudy, and humid <bleckh>. My new plantings will be happy.
WW workshop topic yesterday was about "taking a break from weight loss" - by which WW: WeightWatchers Reimagined means continuing to pay and focusing on the "wellness works" aspects of the current version of the program, not on weight loss. They're big on all these mindset/movement things now. We had a good discussion (not topic-based) about the irrational fear that gaining ANY weight while we're actually working the program means we're hopeless cases for whom NO weight management program will EVER work (and these comments originated with folks who've had success OP although perhaps not goal/lifetime). One gal was going through a tough time - it's about a year since her morbidly-obese mom died and she shared a lot of guilt about "shoulda/woulda/coulda done WW THEN and helped her" mixed in with a bunch of that irrational fear I mentioned above.
When the coach finally circled around to the topic she asked for reasons that people might "take a break from weight loss" and after folks suggested things like medical reasons, family stress, vacations, etc., SHE suggested "or just test yourself" - and I laughed at her. LIFE TESTS US. We don't have to dream up silly self-challenges, "Let's see what happens if I choose to not follow the program for [name that duration]..." Especially since, theoretically, we are supposed to be learning (more like teaching ourselves) how to follow some semblance of healthy eating no matter what.
<stepping off soapbox>...
After the workshop I did my plantings and a bit of weeding too. Then we headed to the Time To Eat Diner for noon (not terrible traffic, but heavier than at 9 AM). We had a fun KSMB[runch]; 3 out of 5 ordered breakfast. Toots & I are not thrilled with a Saturday-mid-day get together but we'll roll with it for a while. Then NASCAR Xfinity. Then a trip to Home Depot to get paint for the basement steps, which is my Memorial Weekend house project. I'll start after breakfast π
Today? Painting. Maybe Sunday Steak Dinner. NASCAR Coca Cola 600 (Charlotte NC) tonight.
But first... coffee... βββ... and peacefulness...
πΏπΉπΏπΉπΏπΉπΏπΉπΏ Have a healthy-eating day, all. πΏπΉπΏπΉπΏπΉπΏπΉπΏ

Good morning all. Slept well and hope y'all did also. Susi that does it. I KNOW I want to move in with you LOL. Enjoy the fruits of your labor Cathy happy you had a wonderful day. Your beets prepared that way sound delish! I also enjoy beets spiralized. I normally just add vinegar and onion/roasted garlic powder to it and serve them cold. I shall try it with the raisins next time around. Hi Becky hope you are not in too much discomfort. Hang in there! Audrey great goal to concentrate on shopping for healthy food for the coming week. I know that whatever damage you've done will be reversed. Bee yup if it works don't fix it LOL....I'll be willing and aware right along with you today. It's nice and sunny out there so I'll also get a hood walk in. Waving to all and wishing all a wonderful and OP Sunday! Will CBL

MJ we were posting at the same time. Yes I read the article on the weekly topic and gave it the 'eye roll' LOL. I agree with you 100% which is why I no longer torture myself to sit and listen to that sort of thing. The monthly 'fly by' weigh in to keep my lifetime status works for me. I wish they would get back to basics but I don't see that happening anytime soon...not with the 'fearless Mindy' running the show!
Enjoy the steak dinner.

Just got off my trusty scale and only up .2 I'll accept that as a Memorial Day 'gift' and thank my lucky stars. It should have been worse....perhaps the walking helped to off set it.....

MJ - I agree that the topics are getting irrelevant for weight loss. I can understand not beating yourself up but to deliberately stop trying to reach a goal makes no sense to me. Stay cool! Ann - Not too bad!

I've got the first coat of paint on the stairs (risers, sides, handrail posts, and alternate treads).
This afternoon I'll second-coat the risers, sides, and posts, and first-coat the remaining treads.
After NASCAR, I'll second-coat all the treads (go out the back cellar door) and the job will be done.
Must remember to put Toots' ice cream in the upstairs freezer... LOL...
He's not a painter so he's done some yard work, tidied up the crawl space and is now cleaning the dryer vent (a twice-a-year job; it's 15' long, aluminum, and runs under the crawl space).

High of 58 and raining cats and dogs. We will wait before we do grocery shopping. Weighed this morning and am officially back on track, tracking, hydrating and moving. Much to do today so no personals but I slept well and have laundry in the washer and dryer. By Wednesday it will be back to the mid 80s.

Sorry for your rain Audrey. No fun grocery shopping in that.
Back from picking up produce. Time now to prep.
We are hosting a chicken bbq tomorrow. It was a last minute decision. I have all I need for that.
Will pop in later.
