Thanks for starting us up June.I hope you and R are doing okay.
Tomorrow we are going to a visitation for an older friend who died. The funeral home is very small so we may just go to the visitation and not stay for the funeral. It's in another town and there will be a lot of people there.
I plan to be willing and aware, track using the GHG's,hydrate and try to get in all my steps.
Enjoy Memorial Day all.

My mother's oldest brother was in the army in WWI but returned safely. My father was the baby of his family and his father died in Latvia when he was a baby so his mother hid him from the census takers to avoid him being drafted. My husband served in Vietnam and came home safely but several of my high school classmates died in that war.
We are having another quiet day. I got so much done yesterday, but, of course, there is more to do. It rained most of the day and I am not sure how much we got but the weather will change quickly with highs of 90 and 91 next weekend. Today I will finish going through the mail and putting away travel materials and then sort the gifts we bought. For dinner we are having a small grilled tri tip with steamed broccoli and salad as well as a small portion of our first butterstick squash. I tracked everything yesterday and plan to do the same today. I hope we all have a restful day.

I had to look up Memorial Day...had heard there is a difference between Veterans's Day, Memorial Day and other commemorative days. I just read a book about undercover ATF who died in service and wondered if there is a day to commemorate men and women who die serving the country but as firemen, policemen, FBI, CIA, etc. Have to go google. Thinking about it, though, I don't know of any family member that died in the service...well...maybe a cousin of my mother's but I never met him. Dad and both of my grandparents served in the military but they all came home.
Today I can:
* hydrate * eat healthy foods in moderation * be happy

Sincere thanks to those who died so we could be free. June - Hope you and R and your parents are doing well. Sorry for your loss Becky. Audrey - So much to do after a nice long vacation. Ann - I am thankful as well Cathy - Armed Forces Day for those who currently wear the uniform (my nephew in the Navy), Veteran's Day for those who used to wear the uniform (my late dad and all my late uncles), Memorial Day for those who died in services (sadly several of my classmates in Viet Nam) I am planned but need to track. I have a frittata in the oven. Charlie had a bad night so I was up at 5:30 cleaning up poop, pee and puke. Thank goodness for pee pads so it wasn't as bad as it could be. The down side of an aging pet. But he is happy and pain free so that's all I can ask for. We had a great day yesterday exploring sections of Wharton State Forrest. It's over 122k acres and the largest state park in NJ with a stop at my favorite winery on the way home. Today I have to work.

Good morning, all!!!
Prayers continue... esp for our ailing posters & Loved Ones... and those under particular stress... and {{{HUGS}}}... and thankYouThankYouTHANKYOU for your prayers for me and my family...
Extra prayers for all our posters & Loved Ones with medStuff going on this week...
And more prayers for those in the midwest affected by the wicked weather...
And for those who gave their lives in service to our country; we will not forget...
And a couple to St. Francis for Charlie, that this is a quick malaise and that he's back to his good old self quickly. ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨
I slept late: 6 AM.
67* now, forecast is for low-80*s and partly-cloudy, and not too humid. Last night's rain ensured that the garden is already watered.
The basement stairs are all done. While I have the paint out... I'd like to paint a couple of other things down there... pegboard, the back cellar door, perhaps the outdoor cellarway... maybe... or not 😉.
NASCAR Coca Cola 600 (Charlotte NC) was exciting from the first flag to the last, but went until after 11 PM. Our NJ driver, Martin Truex, Jr., pulled off a wild pass on the last restart to win.
Today? SSD-on-Monday, at Charlie Brown's. A very quick trip to ShopRite for some "today" sales (ice cream for DaBoyz). Some gardening, just for fun.
But first... coffee... ☕☕☕...
✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ Have a healthy-eating day, all. ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨

Becky so sorry re: the loss of your friend.
Susi sending warm healing vibes for Charlie. We went through that with Rachel not too long ago and the Vet suggested that I add 1/4 tsp of miralax mixed in with her can food. It helped a lot. You can do this twice a day as needed.
MJ enjoy your 'fun gardening'
Wishing AWF a happy Memorial Day. Time to unplug and get a move on.

Good morning
Had a very restless night, which probably does not happen more than a handful of times in a year. I asleep like the dead-- head on pillow, asleep in 1 minute or less most nights, and stay asleep all night. At least,, I sent myself back to sleep and made up the "awake" time. So I am not feeling "blah."
Ann Have a wonderful, unplugged day. Hope that you have many pleasant walks around your 'hood & carl bbqs something tasty.
Audrey Hop ethat the unpacking & sorting is accomplished in short order.

Becky Sincerest condolences for the passing of your longtime friend. The family will be comforted and your friend's memory will be honored.
Cathy I saw the meme making it's way around FB which differentiated the differences between the observances. Made me think of this: Veteran's Day was set on Nov. 11, the day the armistice was signed to end WW I. I often think of this war, b/c there is little understanding in the USA just how impactful it was. Poor R just had to listen to me talk about conditions in the trenches, shell shock, "men w/ no faces," and so on. We were in mt car & I was driving-- so no escape for him.
solid plan for a Monday!
Susi you are the best dog "mom." Charlie is lucky to have you. Nice that you could trek around your fav park and stop at a winery. Hope you can walk along the boardwalk at lunch.
LaDonna Hop e that the beach was a nice respite and that you "girls" had lots of laughs & fun.
Mj Wow== that sounds like some race! Glad that you got your first painting project accomplished.
Pam Hope tha your holiday is a a good one.

Memorial Day goals
Will likely take l/o 1/2 burger or baked chx from yesterday to my sister's house, since I do not eat BBQ. Only making 1 pan of brownies to share. Am planning for one brownie and that's that. Would like to come home & go for a walk near running water. SO can choose from two local parks feature creeks or two local lakes.

Susi, I hope Charlie is better. Lily Belle must have been on a starvation diet when we were gone because she ate so much yesterday. She seemed normal but some time between our bed time and when we woke up she went all over the kitchen and computer room floors. DH cleaned one room and I did the other. She was fine when I walked her but heeded to run outside about 1/2 hour after we returned. I am going to be careful not to feed her too much today and pay attention to her.
June, have you seen Peter Jackson's film about the British enlisted men who fought in the trenches during WWI? I am sure you and R would love it. It is the one movie my husband has seen in a theater this year. This is from Wikipedia: They Shall Not Grow Old is a 2018 documentary film directed and produced by Peter Jackson. The film was created using original footage of World War I from the Imperial War Museum's archives, most of it previously unseen, alongside audio from BBC and Imperial War Museum (IWM) interviews of British servicemen who fought in the conflict. Most of the footage has been colorized and transformed with modern production techniques, with the addition of sound effects and voice acting to be more evocative and feel closer to the soldiers' actual experiences.

I am also remembering the brave who fought for our freedom.
Cathy Great goals.
Suze Great explanation of Memorial Day vs Armed Forces Day and Veterans Day.I'm sorry about Charlie. We went through that with Scooter for awhile. She couldn't keep even her dry kibble down.We changed to a better brand of dog food and using probiotic powder mixed in her food and she seems to be over that and her ear infection.I hope it's short lived for Charlie as well.I am glad you enjoyed your trip yesterday and sorry you have to work today.I'm sure it's very busy there today.
MJ Enjoy your dinner at Charlie Brown's and your gardening just for fun.
June I'm sorry about your restless night.I'm glad you aren't feeling blah from lack of sleep.Great goals.
Thanks for the condolences all.He wasn't a close friend but we have known him for a long time.Kenneth had known him longer than me.By time the funeral started it was standing room only.He had suffered from Alzheimer's the last few days and passed away at home.He was a long time rancher.Being a holiday there was an awesome turnout and they were going to have a lunch for family and friends after the gravesite at the town's high school. We didn't stay that long.My knees were already hurting after sitting for 2 hours.
I will be OP today.I will probably get in my 7500 step Garmin goal but I'm not sure about getting in 10K steps.I walked this morning before we left but I don't know if I can do the bike with both of my knees hurting and I won't push today.Probably just some house walking during commercials.
Have a good day all.
