This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Dang it! Just lost my post. How aggravating. Well, not in the mood to recreate all of that, so I'll pop back in later and try to get it all put back together.
Hoping Wednesday treats you all kindly. BBL

Good morning.
Last night was interesting. DF and DM argue and bicker all night long. Neither one of them can hear the other one so they respond to each other with what they think they hear. DF finally went to bed and then DM had to tell me every detail of every TV show she has watched in the last week. I shouldn't complain. She doesn't get out much so it really is all she has to talk about. I do not watch a lot of TV. Most of my evenings are spent with DH while he watches TV and I sit and read or play a game on my tablet so I am used to my evenings being kind of quiet and laid back.
I take DM to the orthopedic Dr. today. I will be leaving work 2 hours before the appointment. I will need to help her clean up and get into some clean clothes and the Dr. is 45 minutes away. DM is not a very fast person when she isn't injured so I want to give us plenty of time to get to where we are going.
Lora I read both of the articles you posted yesterday and I liked them both. Again thank you for sharing those with us.

Good morning everyone -
Not much to report on my end today. Robin asked about job searching I think - it's not an every year thing I just am looking for a new opportunity. Very persistently.
Was gonna have dinner out last night but in the spirit of saving money and having control, I came home and had some of skinnytaste's crock pot chicken taco chili. It's 0 points until you add sour cream which is minimal.
This week feels really stressful - that's what you get for taking vacation time right? There's just so much to do before I leave and my parents are staying with me this weekend - my niece has a couple of things (dance recital and baptism at church) so I need to spend tonight getting the apartment ready. Tomorrow night we have a staff outing at mini-golf. Then my parents arrive Friday after work. Sheesh. Gonna need this vacay.
Tomorrow we have an all-day retreat that I'm hoping will not take all day - if we get out of that early I will feel much better about where I'm at with work stuff.
Jana I hope the appointment goes well today. It's surprising to me that with a broken shoulder your mom is home - is she in a sling or anything? That must be miserable.
Waving to everyone!

Amanda my DM is at home and she is in a sling. it is better that she is home as DF does not do "alone" well. Even with all their bickering they can't live without the other one - it is very odd.
Good luck on your search. Hang in there. I looked for a new job for years before I found the one that is just the right one for me. I may complain about where I work sometimes but I really do like the people I work with and the company I work for.

Happy Hump Day!
Lora, that is so aggravating! I am never quite sure what I do, but I'll hit enter, or something, and poof! Gone.
Amanda, the mini golf does sound a little fun! Hope you get everything done that you need to... good luck with the ongoing job search. I'm doing the same.
Jana, good luck getting DM to the doctor. I hope it goes well. Hopefully, they will be able to make her more comfortable, too.
Not much going on. My doctor is out today, so I stayed home. There would be nothing for me to do there, and I have LOTS I still need to do here. We are under a severe storm watch again today, so I am glad I will be here. It is really hot again, and I'm just not used to it at all. I am getting texts from my nieces and nephews, if it would be ok to come over and swim this summer! We are all thinking about relief!
I will bbl. I'm going to try to find something to eat and go outside and transplant some zinnia "babies".... Waving to everyone!

Hello all. RobinMD, I am reading your post about it being so hot and I am freezing here, wearing a long sleeve shirt and a fleece! The meeting I went to this morning was in a ballroom with way too much a/c and although I complained, things didn't get adjusted much (and I acknowledge I am sensitive to cold), and I finally fled before noon just to get out of there and warm up in my car. I should know that any meetings during the summer in a hotel ballroom are going to be too cold for me and I need to bring a jacket. A warm one. I'm home now but it's 67 degrees in my house and I am still cold but don't want to put the heat on. Crazy. So I'll just complain and get under a blanket if this continues. These in between temps are the hardest for me to deal with.
Lora, sorry you lost your post. Mercifully that doesn't often happen to me, but when it does, it's when I've written something really meaningful to me that can't be recreated and I get so mad.
Amanda, it sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead, not to mention stuff happening at work. I agree with Jana - took me 3 years to find the job I'm in now (or at least the organization I'm with now), and I was close to despairing by the time it came up. But it's been the right one for me despite my complaints. Hope something works out for you soon.
Jana, oh my, sounds like a challenging evening. I'm used to a lot of peace and quiet myself and I never watch TV anymore. I only watched political stuff before that and i finally couldn't take it anymore, just read newspapers online and reading for fun when I'm home. Plus FB and catching up with you guys. Good luck at the doc today.
I get to work at home now which is wonderful. My trainer canceled our session today so I will go to the gym tonight. Tomorrow night I have a finance committee meeting so tomorrow will be a DOR. The scale is inching its way down. Hope to hit the top of my goal weigh range again by the time I go out to DD a week from Friday, only 1 pound to go so I think I will make it. It will be easier to stay OP there if I'm not still trying to take weight off from my last visit to the overeating ditch.
Have a great day all.

Okay, taking a little break and trying again. Sadly, I don't even remember what I wrote about this morning...but I'm sure it was profoundly insightful! Ha!
I've been just kind of chilling today. I did some painting and just stopped for a bit to let a layer of paint dry and to grab a lunch. Scrambled eggs and a quick guacamole really hit the spot. Simple, quick, filling and flavorful.
Andi - sorry for your cold meeting. In my building whenever a conference room was booked, they automatically took the thermostat for that room down 10 degrees. I kind of get it, as we had lots of projectors and such running and creating heat, and then fill it up with people and things get miserable fast. But still, sometimes it was definitely overkill. And heaven forbid your bladder is full. Because then the cold just intensifies that problem as well! Ha!
RobinMD - Oh gosh, I hope you don't get terrible storms. It seems we've had more than our share here since we moved back to AL.
Jana - Hope the appt. is going smoothly with DM and the Dr. Let us know. I can't believe you cracked you ribs when you took your tumble. At least it wasn't your ankle though, right? We have a million hole in one corner of the front yard. It makes me nervous to walk out there for just that reason. It's also a very bumpy ride through that area on the mower. We had a rotten armadillo last fall that was out there every night digging for grubs. He made quite the mess for us.
Amanda - enjoy the mini golf and try to laugh and de-stress a little. Are you headed to Disney for vacation? I may have missed that.
Today was day 2 of now weighing. It felt less angsty this morning than yesterday morning did. I've never gone more than a week without stepping on the scale. My weight field in my fitbit app probably thinks I've died or something. Lol.
I got some good news a little bit ago. My ExDSIL is coming out Saturday morning. We're going to do the river walk, then lunch, do some rock painting and patio time, and maybe dinner as well. I'm really looking forward to spending time with her. It's going to be awesome.

Hello all. I'm a little exhausted.
Dr appointment went better than expected. They did some new xrays and fitted my mom with a different sling. If her shoulder starts to heal and the bone doesn't shift they think she will not need surgery. They scheduled her with a follow up on Monday and they have an office much closer to home. They will repeat the xrays and continue to monitor the healing.
I'm not staying with DPs tonight. I hope I don't get a phone call in the middle of the night.
I've gone most of the day without pain meds because I knew I would be driving all over looking forward to my quiet night.

I guess I have to read back a bit to catch up on some things. Jana, great that your DM may not need surgery.
RobinMD, I don't remember where you live, but there has been a lot of severe weather in odd places. Right now it has been pouring rain for about an hour and a half, but at least I got the dog walked before the rain.
Andi, I know what you mean about over-air conditioning. Sometimes I bring a jacket or sweater even though it might be hot out. I am happy when I don't have to use AC or heat, which is the case right now.
Lora, I saw your pic of your painted rock. Very nice. Must be relaxing to do.
Amanda, enjoy your visit with your DP's, although I am sure it is stressful getting everything ready.
Nothing much new with me. We are going on a cruise to Alaska, leaving 2 weeks from tomorrow for Vancouver, so trying to get things ready. We will be in Vancouver for 3 nights before we get on the ship, then will fly right back after.

Hi again,
Andi, I have to laugh.... I keep a jacket in the car, because I get so cold when I go into a grocery store! I know exactly how you feel!
Jana, I'm really glad your DM doesn't need surgery. That can be so tough to get over, with the elderly. Always good when they don't need anesthesia! I hope you get a really good rest tonight...
Robin, I live in south central Maryland, about 18 miles north of Harper's Ferry, WVA, where Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia come together. We get strong thunder storms here sometimes, but no too many tornadoes.
I got a few more transplants moved today. I also planted a couple of herbs I bought yesterday, and some salvia cuttings that I have been keeping over the winter, to plant again. I am not seeing my hummingbirds much yet, but I have had a couple of sightings, so they will be around after nesting. I need to pick up about 10 bags of mulch, and I'll be mostly done. I have a big papaya to take for lunch tomorrow. I cut it in half, scooped out the seeds, and will drizzle lemon juice on it, and scoop it out with a spoon. I also threw in a few strawberries, that I bought fresh at the vegetable stand.... the difference in flavor, from store-bought, is just amazing. I have a lot of wild black raspberries on my property, and those are going to be ready pretty soon. Then I have lots of blackberries that follow in July. By that time, I am sick of picking berries.... Love them, though!
Well I am just about done for the day! I'm going to get my stuff ready for work, and head to bed. I will be back tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great evening.
