So did Biden step-in it once again? He's known for putting his foot in his mouth sometimes. I didn't hear the actual comment, but from what I am reading it seems he said he longed for a time from the past when people on different sides of an issue could still be civil and work together. Is that right? So if that's the case, I'm not really seeing the outraged shock that other Dem candidates are coming up with over it. Biden has a long history of working for civil rights. He didn't say he agreed with the segregationists he worked with, from what I am reading, but rather that he respected them as people and that he was able to work with them in a civil manner. Is there more here that I'm just not getting? Nobody thinks segregation was anything but flat out WRONG, but I don't hear him saying that. Certainly it is a far cry from saying that neo-Nazis are "good people." When you're from the south, as I am, you often feel uncomfortable speaking about issues regarding race particularly black/white issues. Afraid that someone will brand you as racist, when that's not your intent. Certainly it's not my intent. But I would like to see us be able to discuss issues in a civil manner again. I don't see how it helps us to always have an "us against them" attitude. It seems like that's what this FM in the White House now is always doing. That's what Mitch McConnell and his Republican buddies have been doing every since Obama won the Presidency. We can clearly see where that got us. However, back in the days when people did negotiate civilly even on abhorrent issues, we did get some good laws passed. So have we reached a time where civility is impossible dealing with any faction that doesn't see eye to eye with us? If so, how is anything ever going to get any better? Look at the Kennedys, especially Teddy, who accomplished so much and worked not only across party lines but also with people he was in agreement about absolutely nothing with and yet managed to find a way to move forward for the greater good. Am I looking at this the wrong way?

I think what Cory Booker is upset about, is that Biden mentioned that he was never called "boy" ...Well, of course he wouldn't be because he (Biden) is white not black, & that is what set Booker off because he feels that Biden doesn't "get it" when it comes to segregationists that he (Biden) worked with in the past & how hurtful the "boy" comment is to black men.
I like Joe Biden per say, but to me he represents way too much of the past. And yes, he does seem to step all over himself sometimes, with comments not really thought thru. For me, I'm just tired of the same old names, Clintons, Bushes, Biden, etc. I guess, I'm just longing for new, fresh, younger, faces, ideas, etc. I'm probably living in la la land thinking that would be better, but I'm just mentally weary of the same old politics by the same old politicians day in day out.

I agree that for Biden to talk about never being called "boy" was a ridiculous comment to make. I had not read that. I also agree that I'd like to see some fresh faces and ideas. But what I don't want is to see more and more of the "them against us" mentality, "I'll never compromise," etc. If somebody doesn't compromise on something, then nothing gets done at all, and that seems to be the stalemate we've been in for the past 10 years (note I am blaming that on the Republicans and not on Obama, because he tried to work with them and they refused at every turn). All that gets accomplished is that hate grows stronger. So in my perfect world we'd have a new face and name with fresh ideas and enthusiasm, and everybody would join hands and work together for the common good after singing a round of Kum-ba-ya. I know that is a total fantasy, but still that's what I'd like to see and since I can't have that then I'd like to get as close to it as possible even if it's just waving at each other across the aisle. Even that would be progress compared to what we have now. I really haven't heard what Booker was saying, so I need to listen to that. Booker just doesn't do anything for me, or at least he hasn't thus far in his campaign. Maybe he'll wow me at the debates. I don't want someone who is going to bend over backwards to be accommodating, but I don't want someone who's going to say it's always going to be my way or no way either. Surely there must be someone out there who can do that. I think Mayor Pete could do that, but I worry that he might not have enough experience. I really like EW, but I'm not sure she can get Republicans to work with her. Kamala I haven't really formed a firm opinion about yet. Beto definitely leaves me cold. I like Amy Klobuchar, but I don't know if she's tough enough. Bernie is not doing it for me this time around either. I like a lot of his ideas, but he hasn't convinced me he could get them accomplished. At least there is a lot of time to learn more about the candidates before the election, but I do want someone who will be a uniter instead of a divider. I am just sick of the ugliness as I am sure all of you are as well.

As for Pete B. not having enough experience, well, did JA?...LOL I'd take Pete B. experience over JA any day. I'm pretty much on the same page as you, Joyce, on the candidates. I wanted Bernie over Hilary last time around, but, I think his time has passed. There are so many candidates I don't really know & who really have no name recognition, but that really shouldn't disqualify them if they have good ideas. I will have to watch the debates closely, I guess. I doubt the Republican Party as it stands now will ever for the most part work with a Democratic President, no matter who it is. As long as Mitch McConnell is in charge of the Senate, kiss that bipartisanship bye bye. I'm just getting really discouraged. In my fantasy world, I would love to see EW beat JA ....Karma at its best. LOL....I really like Pete B & if he can't make it thru to the nomination, I would love him to be VP .... I do like Kamala H. & Amy K. too, but they just don't seem to be breaking thru. I think things will change once the debates start. I really don't want the Dems to start eating each other in nasty comments or name calling. Just stick to the issues & bring forth the ideas. Probably asking way too much.
That damn JA in the WH is going to get us into a war with Iran, isn't he!? I thought Jared brought peace to the middle east (sarcasm) but guess JA had to go meddle. He is brought all this on himself, & now he might be able to back peddle out of the mess he started!

He is brought all this on himself, & now he might be able to back peddle out of the mess he started! I am very much afraid that is exactly what he's going to do, and I'm not sure he even wants to back peddle out of it. I think he may want to start a war. Presidents in the past have a history of not being voted out of office during a war. A lot of his base just want to bomb someone, they don't care who it is or over what. They're just blood thirsty. A war would most likely even further energize his base of idiots, and Iran makes a good "let's hate 'em" poster country. Good one about Jared bringing peace to the Middle East. LOL! Jared supposedly was going to solve all our problems. After all, he's been in charge of absolutely everything, while Ivanka's primary role seems to always be to smile prettily and wear fancy designer clothes where just one small item cost more than the average worker brings home in his weekly paycheck. I miss Michelle and her fashion choices that were sometimes from The Gap. She had a beautiful smile too, and you felt it was genuine.

And now some stuff has been dug up about Biden helping his son's business dealings while he was Veep. It really frosts my cake that you-know-who is never called out by his supporters for all his misdeeds, while any Democrat has to be like Caesar's wife: above suspicion.

Well, I wish in my wildest dreams that all of JA rabid supporters who attend his rally are the first ones sent over to the war in Iran that their "King Con" has started!! Don't send my Grandkids over to clean up his mess or appease his supporters. It is just darn scary!!!

Actually I'm more worried about Bolton than DT. I don't think the current White House Occupant has any interest in actual military action anywhere - just a lot of bluster and saber rattling for him.
Caveat: he did do those air strikes in Syria.

Lindsey Graham is such a warmonger, but then he always has been so that's not anything new.

You have to be a special kind of soulless to be willing to stand up in court and argue that the government doesn't need to give soap or toothbrushes to detained children.

Whenever I see Lindsey Graham I throw up.
Amy, I like Elizabeth Warren too!
It's time to give women a chance. I posted that not too long ago and someone said they wouldn't vote for a woman just because she's a woman. Really? I wouldn't vote for a man just because he's a man and I've been voting since I was 18. I had no comment to such a stupid remark. I don't do stupid.

Happy First Day of Summer......Altho, it was so chilly here this morning, we turned the furnace on...LOL
This Iran situation is getting way worrisome. JA calling off the strikes at last minute is troubling. I don't believe his reasoning for doing it & that's the problem, I don't believe ANYTHING that comes out of his mouth. I would bet the world doesn't believe his words!! I'm relieved the bombing was called off, but I bet Lindsey Graham, John Bolton & Tom Cotton are upset being the war hawks they are. I wonder if the job of President is becoming "real" to this JA & not just a game to brag & make money by being in the Oval Office. I heard on CNN yesterday, that when John Kerry was Secretary of State & the Navy boat with sailors aboard was captured by Iran, that Kerry got on the phone with Iran & within hours the boat & sailors were returned. JA has blown pretty any chance of talking to Iran after he blew up the Iran deal months ago. He just wanted to destroy everything Obama had his hand in & now we are where we are...on the brink of war with Iran. UGH!

I agree @lka5, this Iran business is unnerving. The conflict has really escalated since SOD James Mattis resigned. The fact that we are on our third SOD in six months doesn't bode well and this asshat's constant lies only increase the danger.
