This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ******************** It is National Running Day and National Veggie Burger Day.
I wonāt be doing any running. I never liked running even as a kid, but I did and I do like walking. I rate restaurants by the quality of their veggie burger.
Have a healthful day.

Although I havenāt been running, it has been a busy morning so far cleaning, prepping dinner and working out. My sciatica was bugging me upon getting out of bed and the best thing for it is activity. I just have to watch how I bend and reach. I started a free download book called Innocent in Las Vegas, a Tiffany Black mystery. I have read the first 3. chapters and itās pretty good. It is raining again today so I will probably get a little reading in. Linda, I never thought you could take more than one allergy pill either. I hope it helps you out. Poor Micki. I hope his medicine helps his itchies. Becky, the bike doesnāt seem to bother my knees or hips. The treadmill, OTOH, is pain in my tush, hips and knees. If I canāt walk outside I walk the house. I hope you are seeing a decrease in your pain level. You havenāt mentioned the kitties lately. Are they doing okay? Liz, it's hump day! šŖ Kathy, what have you been up to? Karen, your DB has quite the following! I hope the caravan is doing well. I am sure he will make good friends. Anyone who is that giving usually attracts nice people. Did you get in a swim this morning? It is nice to have no numb toes. Did the numbness affect your balance any? Are you back in your ātoeā shoes yet? I guess your article writers are absent minded. The attendant did wash the car and left the antenna on the front seat. I went in and told them that there is no way I could reach the top to reattach the antenna, so one of the guys put it back on for me. Tall vehicle, short driver.

Thanks for the start Chele.I'm not a runner either. You have had a busy day.I'm sorry about your sciatica and I'm hoping the activity helped. We were supposed to get rain today. We got a very light shower last night but nothing but a mist this morning.I see blue sky out there now but it's still way too humid.I notice my right hip hurts when I walk but for some reason my hamstrings hurt after riding the bike.My Garmin beeps when I have been inactive for an hour and sometimes I walk during commercials for my house walking.Today I did two 30 min sessions on the bike and we went to HEB.I started out for a walk but it's too humid and there wasn't a breath of air.I got to one of our farm gates and the knees started hurting so that's when I turned around and decided to do the second 30 min on the bike.I hope you got some reading done.
Waves to all.

Chele, no running for me either. I never liked the pounding and prefer walking or aerobics. The treadmill doesn't bother me, but walking is better with a view. I still haven't found a restaurant with a good veggie burger. No rain here again, but we're supposed to get some next week. The pond out back is really low, but the turtles are enjoying munching on the plants in there. That's nice that they wash the car at the dealer. Mine usually gets dusty there and I have to wash it afterwards. I hope the sciatica isn't bothering you too much. Karen, how is the caravan doing? That's great that DB has so much help with moving. Did you get any inputs on the newsletter? I think you've spoiled them and they know you'll get it done. Becky, that's quite a bit of activity for one day. It's way beyond my comfort level for walking outside right now, so don't blame you for turning around. Linda, enjoy the dinner. You and Bob sure have been through a lot the past few weeks. I'm sure you could substitute a nice veggie burger for the steak in honor of National Veggie Burger Day. Liz, two more days to the weekend! Hope this week hasn't been too crazy.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Happy Running/Veggie Burger Day. I also heard it's National Donut Day. I miss running, but it doesn't make my body comfortable right now and may never again. If I could get my balance, feet, and legs to cooperate, I'd be back out there in a minute. Losing 50 lbs would probably help as well. What's your favorite restaurant based on their veggie burger? I have found that a lot of the chain restaurants get pre-made ones, where the individual restaurants a lot of times make their own. Asheville has a number of smaller establishments that have delicious ones. How's the sciatica? I hope all that activity encouraged its swift departure. Reading is perfect on a rainy day. I heard it was raining in Cincy, so I wondered about you. I did swim this morning and it started raining while I was in the lake. I was already wet and it wasn't raining that hard so I finished what I planned. We'll see about "toe shoes" tomorrow. It's supposed to be raining, so a good day to not be wearing sandals. LOL about the car washer putting your antenna on the seat. Put it back the way you found it, please! DB tends to make friends easily and living in a southern town with his HVAC expertise will also make him a popular guy.
Becky, I hope your blue skies stayed for the entire day. I miss that deep Texas blue sky. I would stay inside to avoid the humidity as well, so I hope you can work out the hamstring pain. Are you stretching them? Your seat isn't tilted, is it? That might put more pressure on the hammies. I hope you can work it out so you don't have the pain.
I would definitely hit Costco or WM for the Zyrtec, Linda. No sense spending any more than you have to. I don't like the sound of "sooner or later it should settle". Hoping for sooner--much sooner. Anything exciting at the museum today? Is Micki a dog who never meets a stranger? Phoebe was like that and would get her little feelings hurt if a human was in close proximity and ignored her. Hope you enjoyed your steak. What did you have for dessert?
Kathy, sorry to hear your pond level is low but glad the turtles are still feasting. The caravan made it to their destination late yesterday and I haven't heard anything today, so I assume they are in major unpacking mode. I did get the climate article for the newsletter but still nothing from the president. I found out today that the treasurer has decided to quit over the contentiousness at last month's meeting. He's a good guy and a hard worker so I hate that. I sent him an email asking him to reconsider, but I don't know if it will do any good. I don't know about the group being spoiled by my work ethic, but I wish some of them wouldn't make me stress so much.
I heard from Liz and she sends her regards. Bandage change went well, but no PT until her wound heals. She also said that the mock survey is going well but their list is a bit longer than she had anticipated. Zoe's surgery may be late this month. Liz will check in later in the week if she can.
We awoke a little after 5 to the sound of a wretching dog, so it's a good thing I had planned to change the bed today anyway. We think she has allergies and some of her recent vomiting has been sinus drainage. I had another load of laundry to do, then went for a swim. After that, I made a batch of Asian cucumber and carrot slaw, went to fetch the CSA order, then cooked part of a beautiful head of cauliflower for Dale for dinner. We also got cherry tomatoes, slicer tomatoes, kale, chard, and celery. I had some raw cauliflower and I think it's the best cauli I've every had. Probably picked yesterday or this morning. For dinner, I had some chard, 1/2 purple sweet potato, tofu, cauli, shiitakes, and roasted corn with a drizzle of poke sauce. While Dale is gone, I plan to concentrate on eating those kinds of meals. Osteo tomorrow and then I will go in search of a hanging planter I like for my new string of dolphins succulent. My special soil came today so I need to get it transplanted as soon as possible so we can get it hung up when Dale comes home from Indiana next week.

Kathy The humidity was just too high for walking outside.Made it feel way hotter than it was.We didn't get rain either but maybe in the heat of the afternoon tomorrow. There was a dust storm in west TX today and we may get part of their system. As long as the dust stays away it will be okay.
Karen It was cloudy and humid until around 3:00 when the blue skies appeared. It's feeling better out there now but we will see with another chance of rain tomorrow. Thanks for the update on Liz.Poor Arya.KK hacks some but nothing ever comes out so I decided to buy them some Iams Proactive for cats.I don't know if it will help but it's worth a try. After Scooter's last bout with being sick I got her the same Iams Proactive for dogs. She seems to like it okay.I like cauli but not raw.Kenneth grilled pork chops on the inside grill tonight and tomorrow night we will split a pork chop and a baked sweet potato. We both like sweet potatoes more than we like regular potatoes now.

Yes, Micki does not understand why everyone does not want to pet him. He actually cries and drags me up a driveway if he sees a neighbor he likes. They think it's cute and a,ways stop for him. He oretty much prefers the people over the dogs at day care/boarding. He would like to investigate the turtles,..cautiously!
Ouch for Liz. Hope it gets a bit of rest.
Dogs have pollen issues too, for sure.
Dinner was very good! Micki smelled the doggy bag immediately and got a little then a short walk. Everybody here tired today, so early night..
