but I am close to goal and am older and have been working on weight loss for a long time. I truly think your body gets conditioned to dieting after years of doing it and simply does not respond to calorie reduction as readily as it did when it was on its earlier weight loss journeys. And yes, the age thing is real. I remember many moons ago, if I wanted to lose a little to look better for a particular event I could fast for one day and lose 5-7 pounds. Now if I do something like that I might lose a pound or two and immediately gain it back with my morning coffee. Back in the old days I could consistently lose at least two pounds per week if I followed a diet---ANY diet. Now I am lucky if I average 0.5 to 1 pound per week and that includes the ups along with the downs. As per my WW weigh-in record I am now losing 0.6 pounds per week and I have learned to be content with that. Would I like to lose faster? Of course I would. But if I stay at this snail's pace I will lose over thirty pounds in the coming year. Slow and steady is just fine with me.

Fullmahina I agree. I also think our bodies get stuck at certain weight set points where it stayed for a long period of time. I have certain weights where I have to severely restrict calories in order to break past that set point but once I pass it, the weight tends to drop off a little easier with normal and reasonable calorie restriction. But what a pain when trying to get past the set point! It can be extremely discouraging.
