WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

25 points 1655 calories 24 APs
TGIF! My headache lasted most of the day. It finally went away sometime during the evening class that I subbed. I feel great this morning.
Nancy, it never occurred to me that you’d need to be fingerprinted for a medical marijuana card. I guess it makes sense, given the current legislation.
Cindy, I agree with Nancy. I think 1100 calories is too low. It’s harder to get all of the nutrients your body needs when you are that restricted. And yes, you’re setting yourself up for a binge because eventually you get tired of feeling deprived. Would you consider 1200-1400 calories? You could mix it up, staying at 1200 most days, giving yourself a little treat and doing 1300 or 1400 calories every few days.
Lori, I wonder if your leg cramps were from the rum.

Jan - The finger printing is for me as caregiver since I'll be going to the dispensary without DH. Caregivers require registration, finger printing and a background check. Whatever it takes, right? Very happy to know you're feeling so much better this morning.

Hi Girlfriends! C1D4 okay, I might increase my calorie intake. I was wondering what ya'll think about those small red potatoes, boiled? DH is on a kick with them. Anyway, I ate some last night with butter buds. Jan, glad your headache is gone. I used to have them once a month, until after going through the change, getting old, they disappeared. (g) Lori, way to go on the bbq. Ya'll isn't it something how so many of activities are centered around food! A woman in my Sunday School class mentioned she takes Spring Valley Magnesium, 500 mg a day that stopped her night leg cramps. I started taking it at night and mine stopped. Got them at WalMart. Well, got a big day with lots to do. Love ya'll, Cindy

Feel so much better after a good nights sleep. Work was crazy busy today, just got to read the posts...
Nancy, the reason I passed on the corn on the cob was the sloppiness of it and didn't want to have to floss...lol. I enjoy having it at home! Jan, I'm thinking your right about the rum even though it was a good choice, it definitely is not something I have too often. So glad your headache went away!! Cindy, I agree with Nancy and Jan regarding calories - you should do the profile on Myfitnesspal and see how many calories they calculate for you....a lot of members find they do not lose if they are not eating enough. and Thanks for the magnesium suggestion - can't hurt, I'm just not good about taking something on a daily basis when I only occasional have the issue...
So glad the workday is over!!

Cindy - small red potatoes, boiled, with butter buds are a great starchy vegetable. Just be sure to weigh the potatoes (after cooking) and measure the buds and have a sensible portion, maybe 3 oz. Nothing is off limits on this program as long as it is accounted for. Congrats on hitting D4. No reason, either, that you need to start at C1. Do you remember where you left off last time? I'd never get to C97 if I kept starting over. So very happy to have you back with us. I smile every time I see your darling blue elephant. BTW - interesting about the leg cramps. I was getting them for a while and read that they refleted a deficiency in magnesium and b12. I was going to as my doctor to check them out on my next blood test.
Lori - Have you been able to get the mini 25 cal 3 musketeers? I can't find them anywhere. You must be psyched for a weekend after a busy work week. I felt the same way about the magnesium since the night leg cramps come and go. After I read about it, I've stopped having the cramps <g>.

Lori, funny about the corn, but I would have probably done the same thing.
Nancy, are you still drinking the cherry juice?
Cindy, you can have anything, you just have to count it. I love potatoes!
I’m officially tired. Three mile run, Pound class, interval class, and 30 mile bike ride. I wasn’t even sure how to count the APs on that. It seems to calculate way too high if I enter the time. My heart rate monitor said the bike ride burned over 1000 calories, which surprised me. Other than my knees hurting, I felt like I could have kept going. I set out with the goal of 40 miles, but after 15 I knew my knees wouldn’t last so I turned around. I went to a path about half an hour from my house, one I’ve never been on. I think it runs 50 or 60 miles, and with a few connectors it’s 100 miles long. The change of scenery was so nice, and it’s not as busy as some other trails.

Jan - Are you familiar with the Pelotonia bike ride for cancer research? It's somehow affiliated with Ohio State. I think it was 180 miles in two days or 90 miles in 1 day. I'm pretty sure DS did the 90 miles for the last 4 or 5 years. I don't think he can this year because of his shoulder. Yes I am still drinking the cherry juice. I intend never to stop.

C40. D1. Sigh.... WI today was the highest number I've seen in a few years. Put on another 4# in just the past two weeks. I feel hopeless, but will be better about checking in here. It's 6:30am and at around 7am, I'm heading out the door for a 5 mile walk with the dogs. My plan: - Walk
- Plan and Track
- Check in here as often as possible (staying in a cabin in the north woods for two nights next week :-)
I'm traveling next week Monday-Saturday. It will be impossible to pack cold foods for the entire week, so I'm not sure what I'll do. I'll plan it out while walking. I planned a heavy travel week because my kids are at Bible camp for the next two weeks. Nancy - I hope DH gets some relief and good for you for going through all the hoops. Good job with the tracking and being flexible with the points. Jan - you are amazing at fitting in all the activity in your days! Way to go! I got a kayak for my birthday last weekend and plan to include that in my activity life. Cindy!! So nice to see you back. I hope that EDESIA, Beth, Meg, Jane and all the others are doing well. I miss our larger group. Even when I don't check in, I'm thinking of you all. Kathy
